Challenges for implementation of the digital economy- are low level of internet access, low technology adaptation by firms, lack of access to financing and weak IT skills.  the cost of smartphones remains high, contributing to the low internet use – around 30% – among the population. 

High-interest rates stand in the way of e-commerce expansion, while angel investment and venture capital funds are few and far between.

However UNACTA assessment acknowledges Tanzania has rolled out a series of e-government services, soon to be extended to its semi-autonomous region of Zanzibar. 

The country’s economic growth has averaged 6% to 7% annually over the last decade. Increasing foreign investments also bodes well for its future.

UNCTAD’s assessment found a growing awareness of the benefits of new technologies among Tanzanians.

To advance the digital economy for all we will work together with internet providers, institutions, government officials to provide quality equitable affordable internet services, smartphones, and computers at low cost.

Moreover, the solvers Team and Faith Medical Tanzania clinics will work together to develop a plan how we can accommodate all parties mentioned above to execute the project successfully.

Digital economy refers to an economy that is based on digital computing technologies, which is conducting business through markets based on the internet and the World Wide Web. 
The digital economy uses new services which were impossible before, such as online shopping, home deliveries for grocery, to create online data which can give new insights. 

The mass production of data from Cameras, financial institutions, can help inform governments and charities regarding the economy, social and well-being.

How to solve the problem 

Solution: 

Unity is the key to achieve digital economy for all-Faith Medical  Tanzania Clinics ,Sawa organization and government officials, HP company and Internet providers will work together to improve quality of internet service and reduce the price of smartphones, computers, and Internet services.

 Our organization will conducts short courses, Long courses , seminars , and  conferences regarding computer skills applications to youth, women, and young adult to an amble  digital economy technology to prosper.

Digital economy technology 

The target population is 5-50 years of age, particularly children, youth, women, and young adults. This population is underserved because they cannot afford smartphones, computers and the internet services and they do not have anybody to help them 

The majority of children, youth and women they have no access to a stable and consistent job that can help generate income, this can affect them in many ways such as the deprivation of access to communication in all forms.

For example, online banking was formed to allow customers to access their banking information easily without the need to be physically present in the bank. Instead, those without smartphones aren't  given such easy access.

To achieve our goal which is the digital economy for all Is  By partnership with HP company, Internet providers and solver team who will help us with computers and funds necessary to improve the livelihood of the youth, women, refugees, and disabled population economically, socially, and politically. 

As we develop our solution we are working with solver Education team to engage more that 100 youth aged 14-24 in zoom in conferences which will be healed on June 17,July the 8th, 13 and July 21/2021. The conference will equip youth with knowledge ready.to improve their confidence and self esteem.

Tanzania is well-connected in terms of hard infrastructure, but the cost of smartphones, computers that includes access to the internet remains high, contributing to the low internet use – around 30% – among its population assessment from UNCTAD.

Bringing more investors, stakeholders, and other organizations to partnership with local organizations to develop digital economic technologies which will include  providing quality equitable affordable smartphones, internet, and computers, thus will increase skilled workforce on the ground, access to high speed internet to the majority of Tanzanian, Economic growth, employment  opportunities awareness, self eastern, and confidence.

The population who are using internet is only 30-40% in Tanzania. Our goal is to reach 75% of the population which is possible.

Secondly, provide training for workers to adapt effectively within the IT department. in addition to that will training children, young women, young adults, entrepreneurs,  from  Dar es salaam, Dodoma, Morogoro, kigoma( refugees campy) Njombe, Pwani, and Zanzibar.

Our goal is to bring awareness and skills regarding  digital economy for everyone.

We will use mass media communication, seminars, workshops, meetings, TV lessons, group dialogue, distribute brochures or inserts. Additionally, will do a collective effort to make sure that the massage regarding digital economy for everyone is accessible as planned.

Our solution provides a new significant approved approach, it includes all individual to use digital technologies that means no one will be left behind. 

Our aim is to reach out to 45,000,000 Tanzanian to be able to use digital technologies by 2025.

How it could be catalytic 

1) mobile phone keeps families together, communities informed, and countries engaged. Mobile phones are the entry point for many into the digital economy, but they are expensive -people cannot afford to connect.To provide quality and affordable smartphones, computers, and internet services we have to work together with internet providers, HP company and smartphones providers to bring down the cost of smartphones, computers and internet services.

2)To Build a backbone network to connect the whole country with high-capacity bandwidth which is essential for supporting larger data flows that allows a reliable internet connection to be used for business, education, health, agriculture production  and more.example  Ugandan they have backbone network to support their services. 

3)Invest in public access.  public access opens the digital economy to more voices and new communities. In both urban and rural areas public access, like Wi-Fi access points, community centres, libraries, and other institutions, helps to connect everyone and expand users’ average data allowance, especially those who struggle to afford the cost of a reliable connection.

First we received Medical equipment from mission outreach springfied IL

We distributed the medical equipment in four government hospitals in rural area Morogoro and one  government hospital in urban area Dar es salaam.

Also we partnership with Sawa wanawake Tanzania, to improve schools at Mvumero District.

In one years we will serve 1,000,000 -The solution we are planning to serve  is different from first one.

Digital inclusion refers to the activities necessary to ensure that all individuals and communities, including the most disadvantaged, have access to and use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs)https://www.digitalinclusion.

Moreover we are focusing with digital economy for all our goal is to reach out to  at least 45,000,000 of Tanzanian people  to use internet services for daily activities.

Futhermore in order for Tanzanian people to adapt the technology, internet providers, stakeholders, institutions and Sawa organization we have to work together to provide quality equitable and affordable internet services for all.

In addition to that smartphone and computers is key for digital development  it helps to receive information, send information do an internet banking, ect. Smartphones and computers has to be affordable to allow many people to use.

Beside the affordability of the service, computers and smartphones we need to identify the users of the services to connect with them, evaluate the progress  and continue to connect more users through government officials and organizations.

In Tanzania internet users have increases. Acconding to the Citzen Magazine “Mobile internet subscribers in the country surpassed the 27-million mark at the end of September amid growing public dependency on the internet for executing day-to-day activities, particularly since the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

The latest data from the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) showed that the number of mobile internet subscribers stood at 27,900,069 at the end of September this year from 26,832,089 users recorded at the end of the first quarter, in March.

That is an increase of over a million users (1,067,980) in the period of nine months, according to the quarterly communication statistics report by the regulator.”

Above statisistics of internet users in Tanzania indicates that digital economy for all is possible- Tanzanian people has shown interest of advacing to new technology. What is needed is to improve the availability, relibility, affodability and sustanability of the service for all.

Our goal is reach 75% of the population which is roughly above 45,000,000 by 2025. The sustanable developing goal is to reach 100% internet users by 2030.

Our organizations has 12 full time staff and two part time including   two contractors.

Regarding digital economy project we will partnership with solver team, government officials,HP company, GM company, SAS, Toyota, blockchain compny Data, Internent providers, local and international to bring quality equitable affordable  high speed internet, smartphones and computers.

Faith Medical Tanzania Clinics has 10 members who has worked as Teachers, Administrators, an accountant, Doctors and IT,

Managing Director has worked as a middle school teacher and high school teacher for 15 years, moreover worked and studied in USA for 14 years. I working in nursing homes and in hospitals.

Director of Administration Martin Lukando has worked in the following area

1974 - 1977-East African Community as Meteorologist  Trainee 

1977- 1983-Meteorological Institute, Nairobi, Kenya as an Instructor

 1983 - 1987-Directorate of Meteorology, Tanzania as an Agricultural  Meteorologist 

1987 - 1990-Southern African Development Coordination Community (SADCC) as Agricultural  Meteorologist 1991 - 1994-FAO Food Security Project, Swaziland.

1994  - 2009 -Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) as Agricultural Meteorologist,  Director of Business  Services (DBS), and Director of Research  and Applied Meteorology (DRA)

The background of our team will help to improve and navigate an equitable classrooms for digital advancement technology.

Our experience to the communities we serve has helped us to understand exactly  what is needed to develop digital economy for all.
Our plan is to work with internet providers, donors, stakeholders , development agencies and government officials  to work on implementation of broadband in selected areas such as Dar es salaam. Dodoma, Iringa Njombe, Mtwara, Mbeya, Mwanza, Kilimanjaro, Morogoro, Pwani bukoba, kigoma, Shinyanga and Zanzibar. The plan will help to increase high speed internet connectivity in Tanzania.

Faith Medical Clinics has diversity working group with different backgrounds, different religion and different ethnic groups. For example I am from Njombe, others from Tanga, from Kilimanjaro, from Mwanza, Bukoba and Pwani.

We believe that diversity builds strength, fosters innovation and problem-solving by pushing everyone to look at things from different perspectives. Diversity also ensures that organizations are attracting and retaining top talent.

To build a successful team, we encourage each member  to maintain accountability. if each member is held accountable for their work they do their best. We encourage the team members to discuss how to improve our work and meet our goals.

Our goal this year  is to combine compatible personalities. We are asking to partner with MIT solve team faculty, members or, Solvers to give us  more skills in Leadership, capacity building, and marketing. we  believe that, group A can compose a Type-A superstars may become mired in power struggles, while a team of introverts might have a hard time choosing someone to lead the way.

Moreover we would like to partnership with GM Companies, HP,  Toyota, Verizon, Amazon. AT&T, Comcast, Apple companies and more to help with smartphones and more.

The barriers for digital inclusion and economy are 

• High Cost of smartphone and computers
• Lack of awareness and knowledge of internet
• access - not everyone has the ability to connect to the internet and go online.

The Challenge- Digital Inclusion

If we received money from ASA Prize we will use the money to  install internet and computers at 4 public schools from four districts. Mkulanga, Morogoro rural area Temeke and kigoma at Furaha Primary School (refugees camps)

More over we will partnership with internet providers, HP to provide computers and internet services to those 4 schools, Also internet providers will install computer to the computer Lab. 
furthermore Internet providers will provide an IT person to train the students and manage the computers and computer Labs.

Quality equitable Digital education will provide new skills for children and youth in schools and refugees camps kigoma

Moreover Digital equitable inclusion will create new opportunities for youth -they will learn communication skills, collaboration, Google collaboration, software application, drone, IA, collaboration it will also increase their self esteem and confidence,

The 4 public high schools will be the sampling of the big picture of improving digital quality equitable education for all students in primary schools and secondary schools in Tanzania.

 Changing from traditional to digital technologies will change the way women , youth and young adults ( mama Nitilie  Machinga and Bodaboda) they way they think and do business. All youth and women will be connected to network by using smartphones therefore explore other opportunities such as taking classes and sells goods online, 

Faith Medical Tanzania Clinics with solver team we are qualified for the prize because we are going to work together to provide digital inclusion for all in Tanzania including refugees.

At Kigoma regional there three refugees Camp.

Furaha Primary School, in Nduta camp, Kigoma district hosts about 200 students, many of who are refugees.

 Classrooms, Benches and blackboards are few so teachers have to improvise with whatever they can to hold lessons.

There are not enough chairs. Students are sitting on the ground.

If selected-we will provide a training Center for refugees in Furaha Primary School, In addition to that we will work with Internet providers to provide smartphones for refugees at low cost. The Prize from Andan will substitute the low  cost of smartphones for refugees. Moreover will partnership with HP company to provide computers at the training Center Kigoma. 

The training will include- software application, google collaboration, computer designing (cards for weeding etc) website, crafting and much more.

The money given from Andan Prize will provide refugees with digital skills and crafting therefore they will be able to obtain Jobs or self employed

 The Prize from Andan will be part of our solution to provide quality equitable digital education and economy for all.

Refugees are still suffering we are planning to bring more stakeholders and donors to increase classrooms ,chairs computers and smartphones for the refugees.

First: partnership with internet providers from local and foreign investors  to help with IT training, installations of computers and internet services to schools, institutions government offices, companies, and organizations offices.

The goal is to increase internet users in Tanzania. In addition to that internet providers will sell smartphones and computers with low cost -the small potion of smartphones and computers will be paid with the money from HP Prize and other prizes. Smartphones  and computers will be on promotion or reduced price by 50%

To achieve the development sustainable goal we have to develop a plan which will allow internet providers, HP, stakeholders, Institutions and organizations who are willing to support the innovation to work together to improve the cost and quality of internet services, smartphones, and computers.

I am qualified for women Prize being a women myself I understand the importance of educating a women or a girls it saves lives and builds stronger families, communities and economies. An educated female population increases a country's productivity and fuels economic growth.

If selected to receive a women Prize-the funds will do the following- women will receive price reduced smartphones, and we will train them how to use smartphones for businesses and communication purposes.
Moreover women will be trained digital technologies such as E-mail, creating digital assets for multimedia and graphics projects, including websites, mobile apps, advertising, animation, social media, b cards interactive displays. Software application  google collaboration, Blockchain, drone, AI and entrepreneurship.

The skills will help women to get skilled jobs, or employe themselves.

We are qualified for the AI Humanity for prize because Our organizations innovation is digital economy for all. In order to develop digital economy AI technology is part of the equation- as we mentioned above that AI is the ability of machine to display human like capabilities. Learning AI technologies will provide knowledge such as Google Maps Ride-Hailing Applications. Face Detection and Recognition. Text Editors or Autocorrect. Search and Recommendation, Algorithms, Chatbots, Digital Assistants. Social Media, E-Payments and more. The knowledge will help the users to manage businesses, productions, and more.

If Selected the funds will help to develop youth from colleges- we would like to invest on youth to know more regarding the AI technology.

The student from University of Dar es salaam, Muzumbe, Mhimbili, Sua, KCMC,  Bugando, and other youth graduates -will receive training regarding the AI technology. The training will be at university halls, online, and in church places.

second I have been engaged with blockchain conferences-Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC) with Leader series with Netta Korin Co-Founder, Orbs on June 10 2021. Moreover I attended the conference regarding Innovative and Sustainable Digital asset Mining and navigate global economy. I found the events to be very useful. furthermore Blockchain will continue to be useful in the near future.
