THE GLOBAL GREEN DIPLOMAT INITIATIVE
The mandate of global green diplomat is to promote green economy within the social, environmental and economic sectors of the society. The social focus is geared towards promotion of political diplomacy in a bid to promote peace and security within the society. This comes from existing societal conflicts such as conflict over natural resources, intergenerational and intergenerational conflicts. The environmental aspects look to promote diplomacy in key areas of environment which entails but not limited to UNFCCC, CBD and UNCD negotiations. This sector is looking to identify key contentious issues within these sectors and find amicable and diplomatic approaches to solutions. The economic pillar is looking to drive green grassroots economies and create green jobs within the society while trying to link local communities to global jobs while ensuring the principles of ILO and green jobs are maintained.
Unemployment for young people. I am seeking to create harmony between skills for young people and the job market. This is while through protecting the environment. This is targeted at young people from the ages of 18-35years with the aim of molding them from young people into young professionals.
I seek to conduct a needs based assessment on what is required in the job market and find a way to build these needs into skills to be inculcated to young people in preparation for the job market.
It is a green digital/tech company that is to be a platform where young people across the world can come and acquire skills to complement any form of basic or tertiary education that they may have. It is meant for grassroot communities and youths and is looking to also connect them to the global space while at the local/grassroot level.
It will serve as a bridge between technology and green economy. It will serve to create employment and target young people from the ages of 18 years to 35years to create employment as well as promote self-employment. Currently there is huge population of young people who are unemployed and this number is likely to go up with technological advancements. Technology is likely to take over their jobs and there is need to give young people smart alternatives. The COVID 19 has seen most companies go digital and as a result they have had to let go of employees to save costs. This technology will enhance the adaptive capacity of these young people in the event of such calamities.
- Equip everyone, regardless of age, gender, education, location, or ability, with culturally relevant digital literacy skills to enable participation in the digital economy.
The key focus is developing countries such as Africa and Asia. Currently these are the places with the highest number of young people. These are also the places with countries whose economies are still developing and thus needs to shift towards a green growth. A green economy will need the relevant consideration for environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss. These are also the places where digital uptake is most high given the high population of young people who have a high affinity to technology.
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model.
This initiative is being tested by a community in kenya who have links to 1440 wards and 47 counties of Kenya. The solution is also trying to link the grassroot and the international environmental discussions through the 26th conference of parties to the UNFCCC. The test is designed for 100 young people at the grassroot level in Kenya and 10 international youths. The results will give further guidelines.
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
It is looking to bridge the gap between employment and skills through a green digital transformation. It is the first green digital transformation looking at all aspects of the environment and society.
