kuishi maisha mazuri - Living the Good Life
Leveraging technology to save black and brown bodies around the world.
Research shows that stress from racism (and discrimination) negatively impacts the quality and quantity of life for African Americans. Our goal is to improve health outcomes by integrating new health and fitness habits-enabled by mobile technology and wearable devices for communities of color. We are developing a mobile app that allows patients to track activities against specific biometrics that represent markers for specific diseases and disease traits. This app (when connected to a wearable fitness device) will "buzz" at signs of increased heart rates not induced by exercise while focusing on routine actions to improve overall quality and quantity of life. Our global challenge is to expand from our target population to a global population to improve health outcomes for all communities impacted by social ills that negatively impact health and mortality.
- Effective and affordable healthcare services
The mobile app will improve health outcomes in communities of color where stress (from racism or discrimination) impair length and quality of life by enabling integrated tracking, education, and an iHAP (Individual Health Action Plan) to reduce negative stress, improve daily diet and exercise activities to improve health outcomes.
The mobile application will operate as separate modules.
1. iHAP (Individual Health Action Plan) - track activities to improve health quality
2. Health Education - on-demand learning about global health phenomena for contemporary (and holistic) treatment options
3. MedManagement - prescription drug management including recommendations for best drugs for treatment by ethnicity
4. Social Media - Ability to engage in "uplifting social communities to share encouragement and testimonies of improved health
The solution will launch the iHAP, Health Education, and Social Media modules in the application in the next 12 months.
In the next three to five years, the data collected (confidentially) will be stratified and compared across communities to refine treatment paths for specific diseases and disease traits. The insights from the data will be used to improve global health outcomes, leading to increased growth in application use, access to mobile phones and wearable devices for increased populations. Additionally, the physician consultation module and MedManagement will be available by recommendation from certified physicians to their patients.

The application will be accessible through the mobile application stores (i.e. iTunes, Google Play, Amazon AppStore, etc.).
We haven't launched the application yet. It is under development.
Refine number of people to be served...
Racism (through discrimination) predisposes African Americans to prolonged periods of stress which have been suggested to increase hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. African Americans of various ages, genders, and socio-economic backgrounds die younger than other races or suffer from poor quality of life. This application will focus on improving health outcomes to combat negative health trends from stress, poor diet, and generational diseases. Once matured, the application will be expanded to additional ethnic groups globally in all communities.

Our team has extensive experience in business development, marketing/branding, research, health & fitness, and homeopathic medicine.
Our revenue model is related to the volume of mobile applications, specifically health & fitness applications, in iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon Apps, etc.
We will target annual goals to increase (free) application downloads that increase traffic for application advertisers. Patients that don't want the ads will be able to purchase upgraded applications with no ads.
We hope that our application to Solve will provide us with feedback to refine our idea, gain insights to best scale it globally, and secure the $10,000 grant, which will help with financing either tech development or marketing/branding of the solution.
Some of the key barriers to success surround our lack of knowledge in the tech development space. Our team are primarily mobile app users and have broad understanding of mobile apps. Solve provides access to leaders that can build our app development capability to ensure our application is relevant and usable to patients.
