Tuberculosis

•Tuberculosis is a contagious disease caused by mycobacterium. It may occur in the lungs or in any part of the body.

•TB in lungs is called pulmonary tuberculosis while TB in parts other than the lungs is known as extrapulmonary tuberculosis.

•Although curable, TB may ultimately result into Multi drug resistant TB (MDR) if the treatment isn’t taken seriously. Unfortunately, the chances of survival after acquiring MDR are too little.

Facts

•Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide.

•Seven countries account for 64% of the total, with India leading the count, followed by Indonesia, China, Philippines, Pakistan, Nigeria, and South Africa.

•In 2015, 9.6 million people were diagnosed with tb. In 2016, 10.4 million people fell ill with TB

•In 2016, an estimated 1 million children became ill with TB and 250 000 children died of TB (including children with HIV associated TB).

•TB is a leading killer of HIV-positive people: in 2016, 40% of HIV deaths were due to TB.

•An estimated 53 million lives were saved through TB diagnosis between 2000 and 2016

Drawbacks of present System

•If a person is found to be infected with TB bacteria, other tests are needed to see if the person has latent TB infection or TB disease.

•Time is taken before a substantial report is produced.

•Storing sputum slides can be a risky affair for the people dealing with them.

Our Solution

•Titchy is an application which helps in earlier diagnosis of Tuberculosis.

•Titchy with its vast database of samples that are stored on cloud helps in generating the reports faster.

•Using machine learning and Artificial intelligence, microscopic image samples are compared to every pre-existing sample on the database.

•After comparison through machine learning the report is declared. 

How it is different.

•Titchy eliminates the need of storing sample slides as it possess a large and diverse database where all the necessary information extracted from the sample is stored. 

•A zoomed in image of the sample is stored and is compared with the images of other tested samples and on the basis of that comparison declares whether the patient is tested positive or not.

•All the functions are carried out using a single microscope so size of the system isn’t very big and is portable. 

•Since India has most number of people effected by  TB, the government of India has launched several programs wherein people hired by the government will go door to door to conduct TB tests. Use of Titchy for the same would make the entire process faster and more accurate.

Without technology advancement the report generation time can't be reduced.

Our Future Aspects are to Complete the R&D and increase the database.

•After proper research and development and expanding the database, Titchy will be capable of giving tests results within seconds.

•This will be a big relief as presently, it easily takes 3-4 days for the reports to be declared.

•Its always better to have the reports generated faster as for every minute an infected person doesn’t use protection, lives of many others are also put at stake.  

•Pathological labs would want to have this device as it is small in size and most of all, will give the reports in a short time span. People always desire a shorter duration between testing and report generation.

•Titchy will grab the attention of all small and large medical set ups as they’ll want to have a diagnosis device in house. As many small clinics can’t have larger detection machines due to space constraints.

•In countries like India where a large number of people are effected, Titchy might be used in various Tb detection programs.

•We will reach to customers mostly through government campaigns.

•We will be working mostly as a non-profit. So our customers will be several government organisations for non profit.

•We will be improving and updating our diagnose system time to time to enhance the services.

•We are at the stage of R&D right now. We are changing and updating our diagnose process constantly.

•We try to involve as much Pulmonologist and TB Specialists as we can and try to improve from their responses.

•Titchy's R&D work will get completed by august and from the we'll start testing.

•At first we will be doing test runs in out local hospitals and diagnose centers.

•We are having Engineers with skills like Machine learning skills, Artificial Intelligence.

•We are applying to solve to bring our idea in the eyes of important people.

•Solve will give us a huge platform to show others how we are trying to solve this problem.

•We want to remove destroy the roots of TB and being selected in Solve will play a major role.

•We use machine learning to compare images and it requires a huge amount   accurate data sets to compare and deliver the accurate results.

•We are looking for as much accurate data sets as we can to improve our results.
