Overcoming the digital divide in La Paz
We seek to resolve the unfair exclusion that our communities experience in terms of internet access from their homes by developing a Wi-Fi network infrastructure that reaches the most remote corners of our parish and that allows us to improve the quality of life of our neighbors. By having access to the Internet, these communities will be able to publicize the different production areas they develop, they will be able to improve their educational level by accessing distance education, they will improve their health with telemedicine sessions, among other improvements.
The project seeks to bring internet access to approximately 5,000 homes (20,000 people) that do not have the resources to purchase equipment and pay monthly payments,
Build an infrastructure using MESH architecture and wifi6 technology capable of solving the needs of the communities. This will allow a fast internet with a robust network
The project will benefit more than 160 communities that do not have internet access through traditional means, are rural communities where there is no cell phone or very little coverage and that do not have the ability to acquire satellite equipment that allows them to solve their situation. This project will expand as access points are installed in the communities, bringing well-being to their inhabitants. Once you have access to the Internet, improvements can be made such as: acquisition of goods and services, electronic purchases, access to study materials for the student population, enabling health modules to make consultations via telemedicine, among others.
- Provide low-income, remote, and refugee communities access to digital infrastructure and safe, affordable internet.
Once the main network has been established, the access points will be deployed in the communities that allow obtaining the service, this will solve the exchange problems (commercial, educational, health and safety)
- Pilot: An organization deploying a tested product, service, or business model in at least one community.
Currently the project works in La Paz, Zulia, Venezuela, it is used by 5 fixed people and 10 nomads, there is great acceptance in the use of it but due to limited resources and the current economic crisis in the country, we cannot afford an expansion of the scale considered
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
Born as a family business with similar interests in our community, we focus on solving the problems that we already know. From a more social point of view, we know the need for internet access for businesses and students and how to solve them. We know because we have experienced the same need. It is there, and taking advantage of that knowledge; that we seek to scale our project to reach more neighbors and communities by creating a network that covers all spaces wirelessly, with fair prices and friendlier access methods. How will we do it? Bringing wifi 6 and later, wifi 6E. Why? Because it is a technology that is more robust, it uses the free frequencies of 2.4 and 5.8 GHz simultaneously which will allow a more complete network than what is known so far with Wi-Fi. It will allow us access to distance classes, video security, videoconferences, telemedicine, add more points of sale, etc.
