Healthkon
Technology enabled healthcare delivery to the underserved, globally
- Provide an 'in-clinic' experience
- Enhance outreach
- Impact health outcome
Problem Statement: 57 countries spanning across developing and underdeveloped nations have fewer than 23 health workers (Doctors, nurses and mid-wives) per 10,000 populations. These are considered as minimum health workforce needed to achieve 80% coverage of essential health interventions by WHO. These countries are located across the Indian sub continent, SE Asia, Middle East, East thru Central & West Africa and Latin America. Outreach and effective healthcare delivery to the target segment therefore, remains a critical issue in providing minimum legal coverage by conventional means.
Proposed Solution: The Healthkon solution is an ‘in-clinic’ experience for both the underserved patient and remote Doctor, using technology at its core to bridge the urban – rural divide. The deliverable of this encounter is a prescription, printed out for the remote patient subsequent to a quick and efficient workflow, that involves all stakeholders for effective & efficient healthcare delivery.
Workflow comprises 3 simple steps: Firstly, upload and store medical history; secondly, measure current vital parameters including temperature; NIBP; Pulse & Oximetry; Blood Glucose; ECG / EKG (3 & 12 Lead); Auscultation via e-stethoscope. These parameters are measured using an award winning Multi vitals monitoring device. The third step is to enable a HD quality, video interaction between the Doctor and patient. Capability however, exists for 1+4 participants. The Doctor can see patient vitals captured along with past trends to prescribe line of treatment while having a video interaction with the patient, accompanied by Health worker. Prescription can be printed out at the patient end post consultation.
Impact: Healthkon aims to make primary healthcare delivery accessible, effective and efficient to the many millions of underserved BoP population across the globe by enhancing the outreach of the provider, using ICT infrastructure and IoT point of care devices.

Healthkon, a cloud based solution deploys low bandwidth, HD quality video solution specifically to address areas having poor connectivity using existing ICT (Information and Communications Technologies). This has been integrated with an IoT point of care device to provide a seamless 'in-clinic' experience through the platform.
The solution uses existing technologies in an innovative process to bring about the desired experience.
Technology is at the core of the solution as it is hosted on the cloud, uses ICT as a vehicle and deploys an IoT point of care device which is seamlessly integrated into the platform. This enables global coverage and efficient delivery.
The solution has achieved product market fit as it has been tested through pilots and evinced interest by major providers and Governments. The goal over the next 12 months is to consolidate upon existing opportunities and focus on growth across the under developed and developing world.
Vision for the next 3 -5 years is to refine the delivery model basis initial deployments in the current year to make the platform and device more efficient using AI and ML, once sufficient data points are available.
Growth focus on taking the solution to impact the lives of people across under developed and developing nations (57 Countries as a TAM), having a critical shortage of health service providers shall be key basis lessons learnt from initial deployments.

The Healthkon platform has been hosted on the Azure cloud in a scalable configuration. Point of Care devices are shipped to the providers to be deployed in the region, post training the trainers. The device can be easily used by the Community Healthcare Worker or Nurse at the point of care and vitals get populated to the EMR / EHR against the patient record.
The web based platform can be accessed basis access permissions available with the provider to bring the Doctor, Nurse, CHW and patient together seamlessly to deliver healthcare to the intended community.
A pilot run during Aug thru Oct 2017 for the State government of Maharashtra, India showcased the solution for the village Social Transformation Program in the rural district of Marathwada. Rural population in excess of 40,000 was served for the period.
The solution has been selected for deployment across 164 centers in Andhra Pradesh, India that would serve more than 800,000 semi urban poor, for a government run program managed by a prestigious Indian Provider.
The solution is going through selection and trial process with an East African Government that aims to bring Digital Health into mainstream healthcare delivery.
Populations across Semi Urban and Rural areas of the State of Andhra Pradesh shall be provided monitoring and access to specialist opinion of a prestigious Provider through the Healthkon solution. This effectively shall contribute in controlling rampant spread of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) prevalent amongst the target population.
Introducing Digital Health for Primary Healthcare delivery by a national government in East Africa is the most encouraging element in building capability and ensuring cost effective healthcare. Given the opportunity, the Healthkon solution maybe deployed in more than 1500 health centers that addresses a population of 9M people.

The revenue model is to provide licensed access to the platform on a recurring annual basis or Transactional revenue as the case maybe. Additionally, pass through sales of the medical devices integrated to the platform add to the revenue.
The solution is hosted on the Azure cloud and is scalable and robust. Economies of scale kick in for cost and the solution is reasonably priced for the providers to monetize their costs as well.
