V-Trace : Support and Secure Covid-19 distribution in LMIC
V-Trace is a vaccines traceability platform for Low and Medium Income Countries for Covid-19 vaccines to ensure proper dispensing and blocking any potential diversion or counterfeit product insertion.
Millions of live are at stake in LMIC due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a safe and efficient vaccines distribution is key.

- Respond (Decrease transmission & spread), such as: Optimal preventive interventions & uptake maximization, Cutting through “infodemic” & enabling better response, Data-driven learnings for increased efficacy of interventions
The V-Trace, Vaccines Traceability platform, solves many issue in distribution:
- Block Counterfeited vaccines from entering the supply chain (https://www.oecd.org/gov/illic...)
- Detect Shipment Diversion to ensure proper distribution to critical populations
- Real Time Visibility for tracking the flow of product along the distribution channels, allowing to take fast corrective action if shipments are not handle properly.
- Cold Chain Monitoring to ensure the product integrity
- Dispensing clinics efficiency at real time monitoring. Mobile or web tools are available to authenticate the vaccines, validate its integrity (as cold chain respect), and report in real time any product issue or side effect.
- Real Time Control Tower: giving specific access to public institution to the vaccination campaign.
We partner with Bureau Veritas for data validation along the distribution and make spot check of inventory level to ensure no diversion are performed.
The usage of the platform will
- Reduce vaccines wastage by 50%
- Improve meeting distribution targets by 25%
- Reduce time by 25% time to reach the heard community, so huge impact on economic
- Save at least thousands of people life
This is in line with our BCorp mission
The platform is designed for the public institution or NGO in charge of vaccines distribution or any other critical supplies.
We target LMIC as they don't have any system in place to handle the large scale distribution and they are at high risk of vaccines diversion and counterfeited vaccines.
We are in contact with many government and NGO around the world to understand their requirements.
The platform is in line with OPTEL's vision:
A connected world, powered by OPTEL's Intelligent Supply Chain® (ISC) platform, that provides full transparency and optimized performance; earning the trust of CONSUMERS, while encouraging social and environmental responsibility and accountability
- Proof of Concept: A venture or organisation building and testing its prototype, research, product, service, or business/policy model, and has built preliminary evidence or data
- Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning
- Big Data
- GIS and Geospatial Technology
- Imaging and Sensor Technology
- Internet of Things
- Software and Mobile Applications
Fast, Efficient and Secure vaccines distribution!!
Saving thousands of life, and putting in place digital supply chain in LMIC for the future.
The usage of the platform will
- Reduce vaccines wastage by 50%
- Improve meeting distribution targets by 25%
- Reduce time by 25% time to reach the heard community, so huge impact on economic
- Save at least thousands of people life
Saving life!!
Improve health care system in LMIC by providing simple to use platform to improve drug supply chain.
Save millions in waste, lost product or robbery for NGOs and governments.
The VTrace platform, once installed, can keep track of any type of medicine, as Oxytocin or other critical vaccines. It should become a critical element in the health care system efficiency of LMIC.
We expect that countries leveraging digital traceability platform as VTrace will lower their health care cost at least by 5%, reducing waste of drugs and medical devices, while improving availabilities significantly.
With the Covid-19 variant and low protection time of current vaccines, we expect to see vaccinations campaign persist for the next 3 years, so countries around the world will have to streamline their immunization campaign, opening huge opportunities to the VTrace platform.
After the pandemic, the proposed traceability platform will allow to track all king of drugs and medication in LMIC.
If properly used at dispensing points, we expect to detect new epidemic in real time by monitoring the consumption of OTX and RX products in a country, allowing health agency to investigate at the early stage of the next pandemic.
Over three year, the usage of this platform will save at least 100,000 lives and save over $1B of medication that would be diverted or wasted along faulty supply chain.
Impact will be measured and reported in real time by the number of scan and request to the platform.
The performance depends on the support of local instance to take part of the processes, and government support.
Key indicators will be:
- Number of vaccines tracked
- Number of immunization event
- Counterfeited product detection
- Shipment Diversion detection
- Stolen shipment reinsertion
- Cold chain data captured
- Number of audits

Budget availability from LMIC governments: we need to make it very low cost.
ITime to market, we need more budget to accelerate the TRL by investing now in completing the platform.
Commercialization: we more budget to build a BusDev and Sales team to find partners, as Bureau Veritas, Gavi, Gates, Health Agencies, etc
- For-profit, including B-Corp or similar models
We work with
- most of the pharmaceutical manufacturers are our customers in US, Europe and some in Asia to secure their supply chain and comply with regulations
- some of the largest Food & Beverage brands to deploy transparency
- Canadian governments, as the Aluminum traceability
- Some NGO as USAID and other to pilot transparency projects
The commercialization and deployment of V-Trace in LMIC required building trustable relationship with NGO and Health Agencies in those countries.
The Trinity Challenge will give high visibility and be a reference to help OPTEL and Bureau Veritas to position this offering in this network.
Of course, having the funding to make the platform scalable is critical and a priority, while making sure to have frictionless deployment and lower the cost of the solution for LMIC.
In LMIC many NGO are involved in providing vaccines and support distribution. The following are key actors we need to connect with:
- CEPI.net: The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) is a global partnership launched in 2017 to develop vaccines to stop future epidemics.
- GABI.org: the Vaccine Alliance, helps vaccinate almost half the world’s children against deadly and debilitating infectious diseases
- Gates Foundation
- UNICEF
- USAID
In the private sectors, we are targeting:
- Bureau Veritas, we are already partner for field audits on the vaccines distribution
- Major vaccines manufacturers
