The Bateleur Initiative
Utilizing sustainable energy solutions to protect our vulnerable planet and our planet's most vulnerable.

- Recover (Improve health & economic system resilience), such as: Best protective interventions, especially for vulnerable populations, Avoid/mitigate negative second-order consequences, Integrate true costs of pandemic risk into economic systems
We aim to supply several communities with the assurance of the survival of their inhabitants. Specifically, through thorough research Elevate the Future research realized the importance of changing temperatures around the globe to be a tremendous catalyst in climate change which in turn is leading to bacteria previously slumbering to awaken(diseases humans don’t have immunity to) combined with how thousands of bird species around the world are now at threat of extinction for the same exact reason (rising temperatures) we would be solving two problems with one stone. With the revenue earned from the innovative photovoltaic panels we found, we aim to quench the desperate need for Covid-19 Vaccines in countries that are unable to afford and/or purchase vaccines.
Starting off with the South-East Texas area and focusing on individuals there, and building up to answer the lack of infrastructure in place to enhance economic resilience in the face of the Global Health Crisis.
- Proof of Concept: A venture or organisation building and testing its prototype, research, product, service, or business/policy model, and has built preliminary evidence or data
- Big Data
- GIS and Geospatial Technology
The Bateleur Initiative hopes to provide the public with a new and innovative way to utilize solar panels to generate energy utilizing dome-like structures placed upon a structure similar to Christmas trees to generate more energy in smaller spaces and to combat the negative effects usually produced by solar farms. In doing so, we would be allowing for the integration of solar farms into public spaces and exposure of the public to energy generating devices in a safe manner promoting inspiration. Through the revenue generated from the farms, we would be buying vaccines for individuals who either don’t access to vaccines or don’t the financial stability to afford them thereby helping individuals who have basic human rights to access these vaccines. Indirectly we would also be helping 389 bird species within the U.S. who are on the brink of extinction due to rising temperatures and thousands more around the globe thereby sustaining biodiversity in order to ensure survival.
The first few months would consist of reaching out to grants and funding, to get the money needed and all the while fundraising to hit our goals. Once we come close to the goal which we project we should be able to get to in at most 1 year. The next year would require reaching out to Colleges and Universities around Texas, for example, Rice, UVH, UT Austin, Texas A&M, among others to establish structures in parks and other open spaces. We believe colleges to be the best places as they are the ones who are most open to change especially if it means that social good integrated into the structure (buying vaccines). The following year we believe would become even easier as we believe these colleges would generate quite a buzz and help us expand to other colleges and universities both domestically and abroad to promote not only a new way to generate power but adding on other benefits of social good for not only other humans but animals around them.

Our model of measuring success against our impact goals is simply through quantity. By publicizing and analyzing how many people we vaccinate, how many kilowatt-hours of energy we generate, and the amount of structure we build to generate them.

Currently, our largest barrier would be the physical manifestation of the idea. For which we need capital. Once we have acquired an amount that suffices we would reach out to local governments in order to establish these structures and get our work moving.

We are applying to the Trinity Challenge, to raise awareness on the problems presented in our short and long-term goals. We hope to be able to collaborate with anyone who feels that they would be able to help us in our cause or if they feel they have a cause we would be able to help out with in any way. We feel one of the best ways to solve problems that plague our world is by ourselves taking the first step, the hardest step.
We would love to partner with any of the listed learning institutions in order to research and implement the solutions we have presented or any facet of our solutions.
We would also love to partner with the corporations listed for innovating current technology to mitigate the problems we face within the renewable energy field.
