RespirAID - Oxygen therapy for babies in low resource
Biodesign Innovation labs is developing affordable and accessible respiratory support devices for low resource setting hospitals to save babies
Respiratory illnesses is one of the main reason for deaths in developing countries and 1 in 5 deaths are due to respiratory illness. There is a need for medical intervention that aids children and adults to stabilize the patient and provide accessible healthcare solutions at a affordable cost.
Biodesign Innovation Labs develops an affordable and accessible respiratory support device that saves babies from emergency respiratory complications such as respiratory distress syndrome, pneumonia, hypoxia, hypoxemia, perinatal asphyxia when under low resource conditions. Our solution includes ventilation assist device that is an alternative for manual ventilation and high end mechanical ventilator, low cost respiratory support device for Pneumonia and hypoxemia for children below 5 years. Our main aim is to serve the underprileveged population in the developing countries who is having issues with accessing healthcare. Children below the age of 5 years having respiratory issues has mortality and morbidity in the developing countries and according to statistics every 20 seconds, there is a death due to Pneumonia. We are trying to provide accessible and affordable healthcare solution that can save lives and impact large population in the developing countries like India.
- Effective and affordable healthcare services
Our solution is affordable and accessible respiratory support devices that provides effective and standardized way of providing oxygen to babies suffering from respiratory distress. This can be deployed in resource settings where there is a need for ventilators. Patients conditions usually get worens during the transit to the nearest hospitals and this causes mortality, morbidity of children below the age of 5 in developing countries. We are providing a solution that is novel way of providing oxygen to babies during respiratory distress that is affordable and accessible by anyone.
Our technology is based on CPAP which is the integral part of our solutions .Babies under the age of 5 has high mortality rates in the developing countries due to Pneumonia. Our technology intends to provide the medical intervention that can save millions of babies' lives in the developing countries. The estimate cost below $100 USD and our core integral factors are easy to use, low skill requirement, assist control & CPAP mode. The limitations are regulatory process is time consuming and requires rigorous trials.
Our goal is to complete our clinical trials, complete regulatory requirements and commercialize our respiratory devices globally at an affordable cost and make it accessible to everyone. In order to do that we are looking to raise $ 5 million USD to enhance our development of products, invest in R&D, grow and scale our operations in different markets.
In the next five years, our goal is to impact one billion people globally with our accessible and affordable respiratory solutions. We are going to build strategic partnership to access different markets and help the periphery hospitals get accessible respiratory products which can be used to save babies and adults.
