The UMDA food project seeks to solve the problem of food unavailability common in West Africa. Our solution uses special techologies to discourage food wastages on the path of individuals who can afford food by leading them to buy, eat smart and healthy, and then redirect these saved(conserved) food items to those who can't afford food in West Africa. The end users of this solution would then visit our platforms online to request for free foods and the food items would be shipped to them for free. Our mission is to encourage people to buy and eat smart, while this happens, we have a team of health personnel who with other modalities get them to conserve their meals. We are bringing together food items markets/outlets to join our platform, and presently have more than 100 registered markets online. If scaled globally, more food items would be saved daily and redirected.

What specific problem are you solving?

The UMDA food project seeks to solve the problem of food unavailability in the West African region. We are trying as an informal sector to assist governments locally and globally by making it a global effort for everyone to help solve food shortages by reducing food wastages and then redirecting them to where they are needed. Many people in developing economies can not afford a good meal which is a basic necessity of life. Two out of every three persons go to bed without food in West Africa, and that builds up to the problem of insecurity and distrust in government. From the UN statistics, more food are wasted than consumed globally, therefore if we can find a way to discourage westages we would be able to feed that one out of the two persons who had nothing to eat.

Who does your solution serve, and in what ways will the solution impact their lives?

Our Target reach are West African countries but more precisely the poor and needy in rural/urban communities. We are currently staffing our organization with people from such countries and communities who would help trickle down our solutions to their communities and also get financial reward(wages) for their services. We have created an elaborate and interesting way of participating in our project such that using our platform becomes fun and rewarding.

Deploying features that use regionally interoperable foundational ID systems and can be accessed across borders, network providers, and languages — allowing workers to receive services and make contributions or withdrawals regardless of origin or location

First, our technology seeks to bring all global food items markets into one online community, hence the Universal Market Device Architecture(UMDA).

Secondly, thereafter we create an ideology of convenience and reward system to users such that they would prefer to shop for food items online.

Thirdly, when they come over, our health systems with other modalities educate and encourage them on food conservation.

Fourthly, with our global shipping partners, we ship these food items to where they have been requested.

We additionally appeal to direct donors to make food donations to the needy in order to compensate for possible shortages.
