- Pre-Seed
craftzone.com.ng is an E-learning platform where Afrocentric crafts educations in different categories are delivered through high qualitative, interactive and instructional videos with downloadable workshops and sales of materials, It aims to solve the problem of time, accessibilty and cost for women of all ages interested in learning crafts for business.
Craftzone.com.ng started out of a need to provide easy and affordable access to craft trainings given by popularly known industry experts in the Afrocentric crafting community.
It will solve the problem of many women who has the passion and desires to learn craft-works but are limited due to time/funds/availability of the training, easy access will be provided to women all over the world within the age of 16- 60 who typically would like to learn and expand their craft knowledge to start a business but find it difficult due to several restrictions like time/money.
It is an interactive platform that encourages interaction between crafters within the same crafting community both within the platform and special Facebook groups created for this purpose.
Currently we have a course on making traditional bride and groom cake toppers which were what we used to do the pilot; we also have in post-production stage a course on beaded jewellery and another on beaded flower vase.
A handful of women have been able to develop new skills or improve their skills through this video and this has a positive effect on their income generating power.
Challenges
Due to the high cost of equipment’s for video production and the human resource needed, we have not been able to extend to different kinds of craft to accommodate the varied interest of women all over the world.
If we are able to scale, we will be able to approach more industry experts in different craft categories and produce more videos, which in turn will be able to accommodate more women interested in the varied craftworks.
With a video production - studio, equipment and human resource of our own, growing the platform will become less challenging and we will be able to do more so as to reach more women.
Time: Women are hampered with other responsibilities that does not give them the flexibility of being able to go for a physical training. Our Video courses can be accessed anywhere anytime with a smartphone or a PC.
