Census Identification Application

To enable vulnerable people, that is the elderly  and the poor, that  do not have access to IDs to be able to get one through an application that already has their information through a census data. This census data enables the application to identify people who are of legal age and do not have an ID due to their age or environment and processes their information and produce their IDs. This application would enable  the government and even other organizations to know the number of people in their country or organization,  where they could be located and how they could be contacted and provided with their IDs. Even in this era of the pandemic this application reduces the stress of queuing to get an ID.

In Ghana, it has been estimated that by 2050, the population of the aged would be 14.1 percent of the population. This means that, as the years  go by the number of the aged in the society would increase thereby making some of them not have access to IDs. As for the poor, especially those in the farming and rural communities, they do not have enough financial support to transport them to various centers and they are not well educated about the importance of an ID. In Ghana, during the registration of the IDs in 2020, there was a report of 80 percent of the legal population registering for it. But the electoral commission has to do an exhibition to  be sure of the number of people that has registered. But what about the 20 percent? It is because they were among the vulnerable people who were either not educated enough about the importance of the IDs or are not in an environment where  such an important event could be advertised or they are among the people that are too weak to go to the centers.

The target population is the aged and the poor especially those in the rural environment. Mostly such people do not have an extensive education on the importance of the IDs or have access to the appropriate technologies to access the processes of getting one.  The application to be invented makes sure such people in various locations are located and their data or information are taken so as to be recognized when they are of the legal age or are old enough to get the IDs and finally get it.With this, they are able to access benefits of acquiring an ID.

The Mission Billion Challenge is set to transform the lives of billions of people, and so is my initiative. The problem of vulnerable people not having access to IDs is a problem that is quite bad in our world as everything revolves around the ID. In Ghana, without the ID you can't open a bank account or get a passport, hence this application would enable a lot of people especially the vulnerable that are of legal ages to get an ID and that would enable them access the benefits involved.

The Ghana statistical service is responsible for the collection of data census in the country. They help to update information on the attributes of the population and also  the number of the population. But this application aims to take  the number of the population and also identify eligible people who are to have access to an ID and automatically creates one for them.

This application would consists of the manufacture of a combination of two machines that is the tabulating machine to get the information of the population which includes the sex, picture and age and the printing machine to execute the task of printing out the  IDs.  This machine would use a battery system that would last for a week, hence when taken to various communities with vulnerable people, there is  more time for the census to be taken and most vulnerable people are reached out to.

This application aims to get vulnerable people into the digital identification systems. It does this by identifying where such vulnerable people can be located and placed on the system and also giving them IDs to show that they have been registered. This i believe would bring to notice that everyone deserves a chance to have a system of identification that proves their citizenship.

This application would not only store census data on a local platform since most of these vulnerable people are in rural areas but it would be recognized digitally on the national platform. Hence anyone who is registered could access all the opportunities that goes with being on the digital identification system like being able to apply for a passport or even open a bank account.

The application would be less expensive to any organization that would want to use it. It will be portable and easy to handle and would not require any Internet connectivity to work especially in the rural areas.

The application would not require any internet connectivity to work. And before it would be introduced to people with low literacy aand numeracy skills, there would be a form of education that would take them through a practical way of using the application.

In a year, this application hopes to serve about 500  vulnerable people and about 2500 vulnerable  people in five years. 

My goal within a year is to make this application a reality and help others who do not have the privilege of accessing an ID get one and also be able to gain the benefits of having one. Also within the next five years, i hope to see that this application is not only a reality in my country but also to the world.

For an application like this, the amount needed to finance it is quite huge and that is one of my biggest limitation. Also it requires a certain level of technical support which i do not have at the moment. 

With the financial limitations, i hope to get grants or investments that could help finance the work and also employ the necessary people that would provide the technical support needed. 

As of  the moment, i am the only one on the solution team. 

This application will draw the attention of organizations and even the government to help vulnerable people  have access to proper facilities that will enable them to not only get into the identification system but also to gain a level of development in their lives. An example would be that the poor that are quite literate can be employed to manage or even help with the taking of the census.

The work will be sustained through donations and grants from organizations  in the early stages and that would help with the creation of the application.The profits earned from selling would be used to invest into creating  a more stronger brand that would help keep the project running. Since it is focused on helping the vulnerable, some of these people would have the opportunity to work with us to great the greater brand.

The type of funding required for this work would be a grant that hopefully would be raised after 6 months of finalizing on the  application and hope to raise an amount of about ten thousand dollars.

This application is going to impact a lot of vulnerable people especially in my country and this platform given by Mission Billion Challenge will enable this dream become a reality by helping with the funding that would enable me to get skilled professionals on board to create this application.

Two heads they say are better than one. These partnership goals would help me  fasten the creation of the idea,  and i would  be professionally guided on how to keep the application running the legal way and also get the right professionals to make it sustainable.

Partnering with investment companies and also other manufacturing companies. The investment companies would  provide funds that would be channeled to the manufacturing companies to create the application.
