20/20, by PEGASI
20/20 is the first healthcare Big Data SaaS for Latin America, aimed at preventing epidemics and increasing regional healthcare’s efficiency.
Electronic Health Records (EHR) software is among the recommended measures to be adopted by medical practitioners to reduce the level of medical error, adverse error, communication problems and infringement of the patient's privacy in Latin America, which severely complicate 1 out of 10 hospitalization cases and cause a patient's death in 3 out of 100 cases.
In order to address that reality, after 25 years of experience in the Latin American Healthcare IT market, we created 20/20. 20/20 is the first affordable and versatile EHR software platform for Latin America. It is based on a web browser, suitable of being used on any smart device (smartphones, laptops, etc.) and available with or without Internet access. 20/20 fully complies with HIPAA / HITECH to ensure our clients and their patients the security of their information, and allows Big Data mining to make Healthcare information a tool for regional development.
Within the same platform, 20/20 users find all the tools needed to handle clinical and administrative information:
- patients' demographic data handling, including personal records, appointments, ingress, egress and transfers;
- electronic medical records for over 30 different medical specialties (internal medicine, pediatry, gynecology, etc.);
- administrative modules such as inventory, accounting and human resources;
- clinical and pathological laboratory management, which allows test results to be available to patients online;
- imagenology laboratory management through a RIS / PACS suite; and
- personalized statistics creation suite.
20/20 works both online and offline, not requiring and active Internet connection. This technology developed by PEGASI is called BSYNC (R), and allows an active local server to synchronize bidirectionally with an online server whenever an Internet connection is available.
Due to its unique capability of operating on any environment and under any technological situation, 20/20 is perfectly able to provide advanced clinical information handling for frontline healthcare workers. For example, carrying out medical assistance on empoverished zones without Internet access by using a laptop as a server for a group of physicians who use their phones as an access point to the patient's clinical record, and afterwards syncing that information to an hospital's database, is an activity we've had experience with. Therefore, with 20/20 no information is lost and medical error is prevented by having clear, secure and quick access to clinical and administrative information.

- Effective and affordable healthcare services
- Coordination of care
20/20 is the application of several existing technologies on a massive scale to solve healthcare information problems in Latin America. Through a unified set of tools that we have honed for more than 25 years, we created the first complete healthcare SaaS that's Big Data ready for the region, which will provide clear, secure and fast access to clinical information for healthcare personnel and thus help create a more efficient medical ecosystem; reduce both public and private health investment; support clinical decision making and guarantee effective population Health planning through Machine Learning and Big Data mining.
20/20 is an Electronic Health Records (EHR) software platform built on Python both for front-end and back-end creation and Machine Learning algorythms, and a NoSQL (MongoDB) database for massive data handling and datalake consolidation.
Without the current state of Internet technology, the communication occurring for the input of information, data synchronization between offline and online servers, and datalake consolidation performed by 20/20 wouldn’t be possible.
We want to have around 2,000 medical centers using the platform: Dominican Republic (500), Peru (950), Ecuador (200), Bolivia (50), Guatemala (45), and Mexico (300). In July 2019, we want to have a 3% market penetration in Peru, and to begin marketing our solutions to large scale public and private medical institutions.
By June 2023 we want to have a 9% market penetration in Dominican Republic, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guatemala y central Mexico. We want to have around 12,000 medical centers using 20/20 handle all of their clinical and administrative information.
With that amount of users, there will be around 50,000,000 Electronic Health Records in our datalake, for Big Data mining and Machine Learning.
The growth of our datalake exponentially increases our capability of helping Latin America's physicians make more accurate healthcare decisions by analyzing data such as symptom association to diagnosis, treatment outcomes and accurate pinpointing of local endemic and epidemic diseases.

Local beneficiary relationship is handled by selected partners in the countries we start operations in, with logistical and material support from the parent office. Those partners coordinate sales groups specialized in healthcare sales and distribution, usually former medical sales representatives or pharmaceutical sales representatives. They also handle local CRM for existing clients. 24/7 technical attention is assured by our HQ.
Currently we've sold or donated 1,176 licenses of our installed solutions, and have over 8,000 users. Our current datalake holds around 8,5 million electronic health records of mostly Venezuelan patients.
On one hand, clinical and administrative users have told us in different surveys the key attributes they perceive are increased patient attention quality and speed, cost reduction and improvement of their research capacity. On the other, patients who have been given attention by physicians using our platform report faster attention times, increased treatment response and a more effective rapport with healthcare professionals.
We will serve people in 4 ways:
- Increase of access to efficient Healthcare: fast, clear and safe access to Healthcare information will improve outcome in 1 out of 10 hospitalization cases in Latin America, preventing 3 deaths for every 100 cases.
- Health cost reduction: 79% of physicians consider using an EHR Platform increases healthcare quality and efficiency.
- Collective Healthcare improvement: Big Data analysis allows detection of endemic and epidemic diseases, reducing their consequences.
- Rationalization of resources: reducing unnecessary study repetition and report printout can save up to 9 billion tons of paper waste.

- 10+ years
Our company has three officers:
- Our CEO, José Santiago. 20+ years in Latin American medical sales. Directing marketing, advertising, local distribution & PR efforts.
- Our COO, Luis Santiago. 10+ years in medical administration. Looking for investors, new business avenues and assembling the international operation.
- Our CTO, Oscar Matos. 15+ years in BI and Data Analytics. Directing development, testing and implementation for beta builds.
A lifetime license ends up being very costly for our target clients, so our licensing model is currently SaaS (Software as a Service). The SaaS model consists on a monthly, semester or annual payment made by the holder of the license, for its continuity and automatic update.
Our revenue and net worth greatly increases with each enrollment. We also invest heavily in R&D and CRM, in order to maintain current customer base and increase reach.
Having a community of incredible individuals that could help us think about, review and broadcast the ideas we have for tackling the difficult situation of healthcare information handling in Latin America is paramount to us.
Our solution is not a solution designed for profit, it's a dream that we share in PEGASI ever since we started in this line of work: making Healthcare affordable and efficient for Latin America, and using clinical information as a development tool for the region. For this, we think Solve is a great platform to help us move forward with that dream.
Our main barrier now is funding, considering we think we've developed the technology base we need to handle the problem as we described earlier on. With that barrier solved, we can begin expanding our solution to different data pick-up actors, such as private and public healthcare service providers, NGOs and other important Latin American actors. In this, we also think Solve can help, by providing us both with the contacts and the brand weight to be more effective.
