Creating a peer-based platform for all students to educate, connect, and normalize conversations about mental health.

We are committed to solving the problem of a lack of awareness regarding mental illnesses and access to resources. We are proposing a multi-phase plan. Phase 1 includes contacting local middle schools to establish assemblies, workshops, and activities to introduce mental health to younger students. Phase 2 includes building a website for announcements, resources, and a dynamic survey that connects students to recommended guidance. Along with this, we will seek to recruit and train peer counselors to manage and provide guidance for students. Phase 3 involves spreading awareness and establishing partnerships with community groups and high schools. Once these connections are created, we plan to train and develop mentors through collaboration with high schools. Also, we plan to build an app that provides free, immediate access to mental health resources. This plan works to increase the awareness in school communities regarding mental illnesses and destigmatize these issues so further steps may be taken in the future to develop understanding and acceptance.
