Digi-Access
Digi-Access uses a video, voice and messaging interaction system, that will enable live conversations between the registrar and the registrant, to obtain crucial information that will aid in the registration process. It will be a complete digital identification system that will enable registrations, data storage, sharing and authentication. In developing countries, in Africa and Asia in which some segments of the population may have low literacy and numeracy levels, as well as limited digital skills, Digi-Access would offer easy to use features and services to countries in their national language and dominant local dialects. My project aims to work in partnership with identification organisations of countries, public and private sector entities to enhance digital authentication mechanisms for more vulnerable persons living with physical disabilities. Thus, this will enable billions of people around the world to gain a proof of legal identity, gaining access to social inclusion.
Billions of people;mostly vulnerable groups in the developing world lack proof of legal identity. In 2019, UNICEF helped facilitate more than 21 million birth registrations giving more children proof of legal identity. With Digi-Access, vulnerable groups, civil servants and informal sector workers will gain access to applying for an ID, and proving who they are; both physically and digitally in any country. My project will enable billions of people from around the world, mostly; the poor, people living in remote areas, women and girls, migrants and refugees living with physical disability gain access to healthcare, education, employment, social transfers, legal aid as well as reduce the risk of been trafficked. My solution, through its easy to use features on App will allow individuals of low literacy and numeracy levels as well as limited digital skills gain access to education on the scheme and services in their dominant local languages. Also, multiple people can access services with a single smartphone.
Digi-Access is focused on aiding vulnerable populations especially refugees, migrants, disabled persons, women, children living with disabilities to gain a proof of legal identity. A digital identity that gives access to social transfers, education, legal redress and employment without interfering with the rights and privacy of individuals. Digital authentication with enhanced security mechanisms will allow limited data sharing with public and private sector institutions, to allow easy access to services;such as opening a bank account or buying a sim card. To enhance inclusivity, development and widespread of Digi-Access, my project will take into account the concerns, complaints, and opinions of involved parties. The scheme aims to engage people in the development of the project by advertising Digi-Access; its features and capabilities on social media channels, on radio and television channels in various countries, conduct surveys in both national languages and local dialects to ensure people are involved in the development strategies of the system.
- How can countries ensure that everyone—especially vulnerable and marginalized groups—are able to apply/register for an ID in a way that protects people’s health, data, and the integrity of the ID system?
My solution, Digi-Access focuses on solving the problems highlighted by the Mission Billion Challenge Global Prize. Firstly, Digi-Access will provide a digital and legal identity to physically disabled persons, and ensure secured authentication mechanisms to these persons to enhance inclusivity, access to social benefits, protect health and the integrity of the identification system, satisfying the two dimensions of the challenge. Secondly, with just a smartphone, multiple people can access user-friendly features, registrations, information sharing, and education services in their national and local dialects breaking the barriers of low literacy and numeracy levels as wells as limited digital skills.
- Idea: A plan or concept by an individual or organization.
- A new business model or process
The uniqueness of my solution is mainly based on its ability to enable vulnerable persons living with physical disabilities, to apply for a legal identification that an be used both physically and digitally. It consists of a live interaction system with specially designed features, thus any disabled person will have access to a specialized feature base on their disability.
The messaging, audio chatting, video and sign language chatting features of Digi-Access will enable any person with physical disability apply for an ID and also access customer services. Also, by triggering a location tab on a smartphone, users of Digi- Access will gain access to different languages dorminantly spoken in a particular location, hence persons can find suitable languages to access services.
To protect privacy and data of users, my solution aims to use enhanced security mechanisms, such as iris, eye , face and voice recognitions, fingerprints, passwords and electronic signatures. This will prevent unnecessary access to people's information without their knowledge and also enable disabled persons to share crucial contents to private and public sector institutions to access their services with ease.
In partnership with governmental identification organizations, my solution focuses to give special registration services and legal identities; whether residential and non- residential identities to vulnerable groups such as the poor, people in remote areas, women and girls, migrants and refugees living with physical disabilities.
Also, my solution aims to work in partnership with private and public sector institutions such as banks, telecommunication companies, hospitals, e- commerce shops. This partnership will enable these institutions to gain limited access to informations about these disabled persons and as well as enhance services provided to these persons both physically and digitally. Enhanced security mechanisms will be developed with these institutions to enable disabled persons gain access to their services easily.

The inability of vulnerable groups to apply for an ID in a manner that protects health and the integrity of the ID system is the challenge at hand.
A lot of vulnerable groups are affected because they lack proof of legal identities, but my solution is focused on providing legal and digital identities to physically disabled persons in a way that protects health and the integrity of the ID system.
In partnership with private and public sector institutions, physically disabled persons when given a legal identity will be able to proof their identity through limited data sharing with these institutions to enable access to services.
The long-term outcome of my solution is that inclusiveness will be broadened for disabled persons.Through replications in various countries more and more persons can apply and authenticate who they are through our platform.Through my solution more people will gain access to economic, social and political inclusion.
The Theory of change for long term outcome include: Digi-Access giving physically disabled persons access to identities and authentication mechanisms - accesaing public and private sector services through data sharing - access to economic, political, social inclusion.
National Identification Organizations of countries, are mostly responsible for giving people access to citizenships and legal identities. But most of these institutions lack specialized mechanisms to enable disabled persons to apply for an ID and to prove who they are digitally.
My solution can be incorporated into digital identification systems by creating a specialized live interaction system, in partnership with these identification organisations. This system will also contain digital storage centres and enhance ID verification through my App or on the web to allow registrations and authentication on a smartphone.
Every individual will have a digital identity account. In that account they can access their personal data and notifications of organisations who have access to their data and what their data was used for. Disabled person can also know all their transactions through the App.
My solution will enable ID applications, and authentication through data sharing without interfering with the rights and privacy of individuals. Also, my solution's live interaction system is such that disabled persons can access registration and customer services suitable with their conditions and in their preferred languages.
Digi- Access gives individuals access to different security mechanisms to which they can access and share valuable content digitally to private and public sector institutions. This security mechanisms comes in the form of face, iris, eye and voice recognitions, fingerprints, passwords and signatures.
In collaboration with private and public sector institutions, my solution involves linking Digi-Access platform to their platforms. This link will enable limited data sharing across both platforms to enable easy access to services.
Also, physical disabled persons would be able to use our specialized and enhanced security mechanisms to authenticate themselves among linked platforms, to access services and also to make digital payments. Examples of the institutions Digi-Access will be linked to include banks, hospitals, e- commerce shops, pharmacies and utility companies etc.
With the case of low literacy an numeracy levels, in some environments, the media is the best means of communication to people. And my solution aim to use that link to educate persons in their national and local languages on ways of using and services both on the App and on the web portal. These media channels will include through television, radio and social media platforms.
Also, individuals can education and customer services by hitting a link or feacture which will embedded into the App and web portal. The education will consist of images, videos and sounds. Digi-Access will be designed such that, even with the tiniest internet connection, one can access services. Also there will be a toll free number individuals can call to seek information.
- Persons with Disabilities
Currently, my solution is only an idea, so it does not operate in any country and has not offered any services to an person or organisation. My solution when developed will provide identity registrations to about less than 1000 people in a year.
In five years time, we will be offering services to more than 10,000 people. More than 10,000 people because, in every year the scheme will spread into other countries, and with partnership with other institutions, my solution will provide reliable and safe services.
The population of people my solution will directly and meaningfully affect will be less because my solution targets only persons living with physical disabilities.
My solution is currently an idea, but after development, my goals for a year will be to get people to understand the features of Digi-Access, how it is used to apply for a digital and legal ID and also, how to share crucial content to other institutions to gain access to their services.
Within 5 years, my solution's goal is to enhance services offered through Digi-Access, through more partnership with governmental identification organizations, public and private sector institutions to enable identity proofing of physically disabled persons in other countries and to enable data sharing across borders and continents.
With my solution being a concept, it is likely to face difficulties penetrating the open market within a year after development. Since there are already existing identification organisations, within the first year Digi-Access has to put in strategies and efforts to gain access to it's target population.
Also, with vulnerable groups speaking different languages, Digi-Access is likely to face a language barrier if it does not get specific dominant national and local languages embedded into the system and personnel or employees who speak multiple languages.
Within five years, the barriers Digi-Access will likely face include legal, technical and security issues. With the aspect of technical issues, my institution will have to develop more user friendly features and enhanced authentication methods, large data storage ecosystems, train more personnel or employees with digital skills to enable more people gain access to our services.
As more physically disabled persons begin to use Digi-Access to apply for ID's and share data digitally to access services on other platforms, it will become a target for cyber criminals to steal valuable stored data of people to use them for wrong activities.
Lastly, legal issues will be a problem that will hinder the goals of my solution since offering identification services that can be accessed across borders and continents, comes with providing services without violating the laws of countries and interfering with the rights and privacy of users.
My solution is likely to face barriers concerning penetrating the open market, security and technical issues, language and legal issues during the few years after development, but by understanding and solving these issues, Digi-Access will become a well strategised institution.
To penetrate the open market easily, Digi-Access aims to work in partnership with other identification organizations to offer its user friendly services and authentication mechanisms to these institutions for a period of time. With this partnership and through advertisements, Digi-Access will gain access to its own clients within a few years of operation.
The issue of technicality and security will be solved by working with third party organisations that will offer secured digital data storage, cyber security services, and provide training for employees of Digi-Access. Also, our personnel will be multi language speakers, so as they can provide services to persons in dorminant languages understood by many. This will break the language barrier and will enable more people to use Digi-Access.
Lastly, with legal issues, Digi-Access hopes to abide by identification laws of countries and ensure it's third party institutions respect the rights and privacy of users( physically disabled persons).
- Not registered as any organization
I worked on the idea alone
I developed the idea of Digi-Access, a complete identification system that will use an App and a web portal to allow physically disabled persons such as the blind and deaf to apply for a digital ID which can be legally used physically and digitally. I have no specialized technical skills but I hope to share my idea and work in partnership with institutions who have the skills and personnel and to learn from them as well. I hope to work with them so as to develop my concept, or to incorporate it into already existing identification systems.
Currently, my solution is an idea, and I have not partnered any organization.
Digi-Access will be providing services of giving individuals access to digital and legal identities in collaboration with governmental identification organisations, digital storage systems and identity proofing through specialized authentication mechanisms on our App and web portal for physically disabled persons.
Digi-Access will work in partnership with public and private sector institutions by linking our platform to their services and digital platforms. We hope to provide a limited data sharing ecosystem, so as our users can access their services with their digital proof of identity.
Also, Digi-Access will offer our specialized verification systems as services to other institutions at a cost, to enable them provide easy access accounts and secured services to their physically disabled clients easily.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
I hope to financially sustain my solution through partnerships. I hope to offer services to individuals, identification organisations, private and public sector institutions in order to generate revenue.
Digi-Access hopes to sell its services to identification organisations, public and private sector institutions to aid them provide quality services for their clients both physically and digitally.
My solution has not raised any fund
With my solution being an idea about a complete digital dentification system that enables physically disabled persons to apply for an ID, share and access personal informations through enhanced and secured security mechanisms.
There is no budget allocated to my solution in 2020. Amount: 0.00$
