For example, (The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Its latest research released in 2015 confirms that low-socioeconomic status (SES) students were less likely to complete their college education. Statistics from the huffman post;
What makes buying a home such a singular wealth-building method in the U.S. economy?
It appreciates.
If nothing else, it’s a fairly reliable long-term investment. For decades, home prices have appreciated annually at average rates from about 3% to 5%. While the mortgage payments remain the same, market prices tend to rise, creating valuable home equity that increases a family’s net worth.
It is enhanced by leverage.
The unique power of this investment, though, is that it appreciates based on the entire value of the home. Equity accumulates on not only what you’re able to pay, but also what you borrow. That means that rather than earning 4% appreciation on the $10,000 down payment you fronted—or $400—you build equity on the full $100,000 value of the house—$4,000—as if you had invested all of that money yourself. You leveraged your $10,000 into a $100,000 investment.
It is forced savings.
Lastly, paying off the balance of a mortgage month by month is a forced savings mechanism that builds equity at the same time. And when the mortgage is up, you have something to show for it: ownership of a house that you can sell.

Our goal for the next year will be to establish the inaugural group of clients through a series of evaluations and focus group data collection. Guide them through the modules of the program starting with an evaluation, unto life skills, career building support courses and financial literacy courses to become contributing members of society and break the poverty cycle.
The impact on the overall community is just as great as the impact on the individual. The newly acquired skills will help them find viable and sustainable employment. The five year plan would be to replicate this process on a higher scale by opening centers in low income minority and underserved communities across the United States.
The long term goal to break the poverty cycle through home ownership.
The barrier that currently exists is the finances to get the program off the ground. Once this barrier has been crossed. We will implement the Changing Lanes mission and begin to have a positive impact on the community. A barrier that may exists in the next five years is the lack of interest in other similar cities around the United States.
Our approach to addressing the financial barrier is applying for grants both private and governmental. We will also have a grassroots campaign to involve local businesses in the communities we are serving as well as other organizations which have similar target clients. These resources will help the program grow both in awareness and be able to provide the tools and materials necessary to be successful in the Changing Lanes Mission. For the barrier we foresee existing within the next five years, we will garner interest through the success rates of the program in previous cities and the impact it has had on these underserved, low income communities.
We would like to be collecting the following data to help us decide which candidate has the best possibility of being a success story:
