SaFeet
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are more than 410 million diabetics around the world. About every 30 seconds a lower limb for a diabetic got amputated due to diabetes.
SaFeet is proactive protective IoT device uses
-Image processing using HD and heat cameras
-Digital cloud
After the image processing and the images are uploaded to a digital cloud. The doctors through a web site they can check the images and the reports, then provide a remote diagnosis for the diabetics. No need to have the doctors and the diabetics in the same place.
SaFeet aims to reduce the huge number of amputations due to diabetes and to provide a self-diagnosis tool for the diabetics without having to go to the doctors, except only in necessary cases. And on the other hand we can save the governmental expenses to be used in other fields
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) there are more than 410 million diabetics around the world. About every 30 seconds, a lower limb for a diabetic is amputated due to a disease called Diabetic Foot Autonomic Neuropathy (DFAN), which makes diabetics lose sensation in the lower limbs. What is worse is that approximately 40% of patients who lose a leg will lose the other within three years and nearly half of those who lost the other leg would face serious problems in the five years ahead [Costa,2017]. In fact, this number of amputation is due to the lack of clinics specializing in diabetic feet in many countries and most of the diabetics are not aware about how dangerous this disease is to their feet and lives.
SaFeet aims to ultimately decrease the likelihood for amputations; reducing the high rate of amputations by using internet of things (IOT) technologies. It detects the feet wounds and evaluate the level of risk based on stored data. SaFeet uploads the results with a medical report on a digital cloud for the doctor’s advice. The main goal is to provide a self-diagnostic tool for the diabetics without having to go to the doctors, except only in the necessary cases
SaFeet aims to save lives, by providing remote diagnosis tool for the countries that have lack of specialized clinics in diabetic feet.
- Improve healthcare access and outcomes, including around mental health and substance use disorders
SaFeet help governments to save expenses for the rehabilitation of patients, and spending money on other important areas for countries such as education, irrigation, drinking water and health . The plastic leg costs around $3K and the rehabilitation of one diabetic costs costs around $6K annually
