Wendy Green, a single mother of 2 children, both attending elementary school, is a consultant in the NYC area, focused on strategic partnerships for product and business development. Because of her network that spans the globe and across every industry, she was asked to help source PPE for very large buyers in early Feb. It did not take long to realize there was a desperate need to find reliable manufacturers and distributors and an even greater need to get it in that hands of the end user.

Problems

We created a vetted network of PPE suppliers and products that are well below the $ market, then ask for $0.01 back to supply masks to schools. We include extensive marketing, such as celebrity endorsements, limited edition prints and high value promo prize campaigns. This allows enterprise brands to be able to pull marketing budget, while emotionally connecting kids to our masks.
With 56M children and 4M+ teachers/admin in public schools in the US, it's necessary to provide adequate masks and sanitizers, to enable reopening schools safely. The overwhelming need of 1.2 BILLION masks PER MONTH is forcing many states to reduce or eliminate on site schooling for kids across the country. As a mother of a 6 yr old son with 7 food allergies, which makes him high risk, like many other school aged children. The thought of inadequate supply do to budget or politics is terrifying, but at the same time, school plays a critical role in developing social and emotional skills, improves mental health exercise and addresses racial inequities all that you cannot easily replicate online.
Other problems include the following:
- Compliance on mask wearing policies. Peer pressure is prevalent, looking down on you for wearing one, at every age, including adults! Need to flip the script!!
- The strain on working parents without full time childcare.
- Price gouging for masks and other(PPE)
- Lack of reliable, trustworthy suppliers of PPE.
- Lack of available inventory due to hoarding
- Enterprise corps and PPE; this unexpected expense has a ripple effect which forces them to cut media, advertising, impact projects and employee programs.
We provide masks to schools, peace of mind to parents, social impact, PR and targeted marketing to brands, transparency to the supply chain, verified suppliers to buyers, the "Cool Factor" to our masks and an increase of compliance to mask wearing policies across the USA.
We are affecting kids, Moms, Dads, teachers, brands and communities. We are affecting every family in this country who has a child in public school and every company their parents work for. We are affecting the future of our country, because without providing this generation with a basic education, what will the future bring? Through our partner Branded Global, the strategy is to GO BIG. Live&United(for profit) will be purchasing media, product placements in video games, blockbuster movies and pop cultureshottest celebrities seen wearing them, but the SOLE objective being an emotional connection.
We will campaign morning shows, late nights, NY Times, social, livestream, celebrity endorsements, founder interviews, all to share a feel good story; one about how transparency and generosity became the catalyst that took over the industry that was created by greed.
I was falling on my face trying trying to broker PPE, still being a good, honest person, in a horrible industry. I received a request for a quote for 750K masks per week, for 30 elementary schools in Texas. After researching and writing the quote, trying to figure out how I can help, trying to negotiate with my manufacturer contacts, taking $0 in margin, but nothing helped. Their situation was grim, no matter what I did. 1 month was more than their entire educational budget for the year. I explained my concern to the brokers that requested the quote and I refused to submit a formal proposal. I knew it would be pointless and I wanted to do more.
So my journey began...
The love of my children and my genuine, burning desire to show them that anyone can achieve the impossible is in itself, enough to carry this through, but there are SO many reasons.
Kids need face to face interactions with other kids, for growth, social, emotional and mental development. People learn from people.
Working parents are losing their minds trying to do it all.
Brands are scattering, trying to figure out how they are going to recover and absorb an insanely expensive unexpected expense of PPE, causing an enormous strain on their bottom line.
Buyers are forced to purchase their needed supply in an industry plagued with opportunistic brokers, driven by pure greed and show no concern for human lives.
Our program addresses so many issues, that so many people are struggling to find solutions for.
We have found a way to ELEVATE each other and that is something to be passionate about.

I failed every single day since February 5, trying to transact honestly and transparently as I always have, but this industry is was not kind. I have been stomped on, circumvented, scammed...you name it.
Regardless of my relentless fails, I cannot just sit back and not do something.
This project came to me, with a VERY limited window of time and no funding to solve a problem that the most powerful government in the world had already given up on.
I did what almost any other single mother, going through a divorce, with little support and no consulting work due to the pandemic, would NEVER do in a million years; I emptied my 401k and put every penny I had in my personal account into starting the 2 entities, with no regrets.
My ability to overcome adversity is simply because there is no other option but to transform, persevere, overcome, overpower, everyday, every obstacle. I'm all in.

My 2 kids and I were brushing our teeth a little over a month ago. My son started a conversation that I will remember vividly for the rest of my life. It has and will forever peel me off the ground from any loss. It went like this...
Clayton: "Mom, are you famous?"
Me: (chuckling) "No silly! I have friends that may be considered famous and know some, but I am just Mom."
Clayton: " Are you sure? I think you are Mom."
Me : ( perplexed) "No, I am definitely not. We don't have a fancy house and you see me working everyday to make sure we are ok. Why would you think that?"
Clayton: " Mom, you talk to a lot of people on the phone and people call you so late. I hear you talk to them and you are going to like save the world and stuff. Mom, you have got to be famous or something."

Innovation doesn't have to be complicated. I recently heard a TEDX from a Yao Huang, a woman I am now starting to work with through Live&United Adopt A Mask, she said, find a problem that needs solving and work backwards to solve it, then go solve it.
Well there you go.
The PPE industry is overpriced because of the middlemen getting obnoxiously rich. The schools have no budget and enterprise brands are sacrificing their marketing, using that budget to buy PPE instead of investing in marketing to keep the wheels turning, you just cut out the middlemen. If you lower margin, you'll attract brands and gain more market share. It's not greedy to ask for a penny or 2 if you are saving them 75 pennies.
I choose to top it off by adding co-marketing to show our gratitude at Adopt A Mask to ABC Brand for their support, which is keeping that brand top of mind in their target demographic... so they are not sacrificing. marketing at all.
Remove greed from your vocabulary and you have room for abundance.

Currently - We have just aligned with a 501C3, so we can now accept donations. The first school could potentially open in August, as early at the 13th, so we need to start raising capital.
Within a year, my objective is to serve 60M children and teachers, providing masks for at least 1 week per month ( 5 school days) as well as antimicrobial entryway tunnels, surface and skin protectors, HVAC air purifiers and Ionizers for every public school across the country.
In 5 years, I pray we will no longer be needing masks, but the sanitizing of all schools, using non toxic antimicrobials should continue indefinitely. This program has the potential to be self sustaining, simply by continuing our wholesale distribution of top quality products at factory direct pricing. I would like to expand the program to include donations to all tuition free schools worldwide.
I am not a hero, nor a superhero with superpowers like my kids seem to think. Without the help from organizations like Branded Global, ICEA and hopefully the Elevate Prize, I would have NEVER even dared to attempt such a "BIG IDEA" as some "non-believers" like to call it. I am blessed, so blessed to have reach that spans far enough to grab the attention of such powerful partners.My heroes are Kyle Kane, Karl Schlegel and Anthony Huneycutt. It is them that I will owe for protecting my children when others felt the task was too daunting.
How I want to elevate humanity is by carrying the message of hope, of belief in yourself to achieve the impossible, but most importantly of GRATITUDE!

Public schools need about 1.2 billion masks per month, plus antimicrobials and sanitizing solutions. Fund raising goals per month are an ambitious $500M per month to fill about 1/4 of their need. I could use some help over here...
I reduced the fiscal agent fees down to 10% from 15%, through negotiations. Because the for profit is absorbing the marketing costs due to the monetary benefit it will receive from them, the additional fees are estimated to be about $30K annually for legal, $35 annually for bookkeeping and $35K for an office administrator.

I need more man power to bring in more volume, to collect more pennies. I need TRUSTWORTHY, honest, experienced medical supply distributors. I also need investors that want to bring product in, to stock in a warehouse for on ecommerce and other on land sales.
