SHADE

Lawrence serve as Healthcare Data Analyst in Ghana Health Service Administration in Techniman municipal. He was responsible for analyzing the municipal public and clinical health service data to make insight for decision making. He is a graduate Medical Laboratory technologist from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. 

His passion for socioeconomic growth of mankind made him to pursue a certificate in Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship from Draper University.

Lawrence E Donsah is an aspiring social enterpreneur, Founder and CEO of Sustainable High-impact Advocacy development Ecosystem, SHADE located in Lexington, Kentucky, United States.

1. SHADE is solving the social-financial gap of NGOs that have limited funding to solve most problems.

2. SHADE is committed to solve poverty, hunger, ill-health, poor education, gender inequality, poor drinking water, unstable power, unemployment, poor shelter and difficult to access financing.

3. SHADE use business models to genetate funding to support the most people in need in our societies.

Influx of donor funding is variable. Financial-social gap is widening. People who need the most aid are increasing. Sustainable funding for social causes are limiting. SHADE exist to address these challenges. In sub Saharan Africa where SHADE will mostly operate, about 50% of the population are in poverty. the region also accounts for 98% of all new born deaths world. Most of the people are jobless and majority especially girls lack education. 

We want to build a social enterprise businesses that bootstrap to generate revenue to solve some of these problems. 

SHADE target are people in sub Saharan Africa in poverty, hunger, ill-health and difficult accessing funding to start a business. SHADE will be a network membership-based social enterprise. Each member has to contribute $1.99 to be eligible to access SHADE social enterprise businesses for funding or investment opportunities.

SHADE social business spins across industries. For instance in Healthcare we will have a business name PARC (Physician Access Remote Care)- On demand care where patients will call doctors to care for them at home.

Agriculture: We have PlantBux- A crowdfarming platform where users can invest in variety of farm produce.

SHADE social enterprise businesses fall under industries not limited to Healthcare, Agribusiness, FinTech, Education. We are building income generating businesses within one ecosystem, SHADE to solve the problems. 

Many Non-profits are not providing services because of lack of funding. Most rely on donor funding. I saw this as a challenge to use businesses to make a social impact.

Therefore I came out with "Sustainable High-impact Advocacy Development Ecosystem", SHADE- A network of social enterprises that will help change socioeconomic status quo by providing people who need the most aid access to competitive funding and investment opportunities to improve their living conditions.

As growing child in Africa, I know what it means when your mother has to battle to decide to use the little money she has for your tuition fees, healthcare of food. I know how it takes for people to have difficult to access healthcare or funding to start a small business to survive. These reasons made me to establish SHADE for needy people to come for rest in terms of getting affordable healthcare, food and nutrition, portable drinking water and alleviating from poverty by having access to small loans with low interest for businesses.

I am Healthcare Data Analyst. I know the socioeconomic determinants of health that include education, unemployment, income, shelter. Wealth is Health and I believe if the people socioeconomic status are improve, they will have good health to do their daily activities and to help others in need.

SHADE is an idea stage social enterprise. I have personally gone through a challenge of not further my education because my mother has no money. After college, I have to stop going to a university to work for a year to raise funds for my education. When I confront with problems, I probe in to know the root cause of the problem and solve from there.

During my service as healthcare data analyst I realize there were increase in maternal deaths. Maternal health records indicate most mothers do not attend prenatal care. But can we conclude as the main cause of death? No.

I realize most of them die because of poverty. How will a pregnant woman access healthcare if she does not have food in the house. Most of the women will choose to go to farms for food even during their prenatal care schedule dates.

My ability to find the root cause of every challenges and find possible ways to solve them is my greatest strength.

As healthcare data analyst, I was also part of health administration management team. I am part of influencing decision such as health interventions. During my roles I realize there were increase in HIV/AIDS and as a leader and coordinator of HIV/AIDS, I organize HIV know your status campaign to in order to identify cases early and treat them.

SHADE is innovative because it is a bootstrap social enterprise business network. We form many business across industries under SHADE.

SHADE will serve about 12 million people in Ghana

There will be a process measure and outcome measure. During the project data will be collected on the state of the people, number that the project recruit and the percentage of people the project impacted.

SHADE currently face startup challenges such as financial and technical support. We need funds to design a high performing website to engage users. Moreover we need startup capital to implement some of our social enterprise businesses

As a solopreneur I am raising personal funding for this project. I am also seeking funding and grants from organization and that is while I am at Elevate prize.

Currently SHADE has no partners

SHADE will be a network membership-based social enterprise. We are providing them business opportunities other healthcare, agribusiness, renewable energy, education. These will be affordable for the community people to engage.

SHADE will be a network membership-based social enterprise. Each member will contribute $1.99 to be eligible to access SHADE businesses for funding or investment. Moreover each of the SHADE social enterprises will generate funds for a social cause.

My estimate expenses will be $100,000.00. This will include startup expenses and initial capital to start one enterprise business under SHADE that has potential to increase revenue. This project is under Agribusiness called PlantBux.

PlantBux is crowdfarming online platform where users can invest in varieties of farms.
