Sustaining Quality Education.
My name is Namazzi Mary Proscovia. A female Ugandan Catholic aged forty. Am married with five children but currently taking care of ten members in a family. Am a qualified primary school teacher with experience of twenty years. During the years of my experience , I started working as a teacher on probation for six years,then I was confirmed and in 2009 I was promoted to being a senior teacher, after five years I was promoted to being a Deputy headteacher,and after three years I was promoted to being a headteacher for which am currently serving.In the previous twenty years of my experience,I have not only been teaching in class but carrying out different roles for example guidance and counseling, music, liturgy, welfare, agriculture and store keeping.
The problem am committed to solving is poor performance of learners in St Mary's Mayanja primary school.The children in my school are really performing very poorly.The school has a population of 989 pupils but their performance has not been good since I started serving in the school but to my notes ,it has been influenced by a number of factors. The project am proposing is Sustaining Quality Education in St. Mary's Mayanja primary school.The project will elevate humanity through seminars, workshops and refresher courses to teachers.It will also elevate humanity through providing pupils with wholesome education whereby children's talents will be developed in music ,dance an drama,games and vocational skills.It will also elevate humanity through providing scholastic materials to the vulnerable children, inspiring pupils to agricultural skills and providing lunch to all school children.
The specific problem am solving is poor performance. The school has population of 989pupils but it is unlucky that only 5% are trying out to perform better. 95% of the children we teach in class sincerely perform very poorly. But during the years of my experience ,I have tried to research on it's causes and I found out the following; lack of scholastic materials by both teachers and pupils, incompetent teachers, negative attitude of teachers ,pupils and parents, poverty of their parents,failure to put English into practice, lack of motivation on the side of teachers, pupils and parents.Poor performance is not only on the school am heading but also in other schools in my country. You find that 90%of the pupils in my country perform poorly. It is a challenge in my community in my country and around the globe but some times causes differ according to the location.
My project is Sustaining Quality Education in St Mary's Mayanja primary school. The project will fund the headteacher to go for development and leadership courses. It will fund seminars, workshops and refresher courses to teachers.It will also fund safety and security in the school. It will fund providing scholastic materials to teachers and the vulnerable children.It will fund starting up agricultural projects for example piggery, poultry,crop and dairy farming from which the products will be used to support pupils lunch.The project will also fund developing pupils talents in music,dance and drama, games and vocational skills. The project will fund the welfare of people in the school community so as to target good relationship among people in the school community.The project shall ensure that the above activities are implemented successfully inorder to target quality education hence producing high class graduates and self reliant citizens.

The project relates to the elevate prize in that if the leader of the school community is supported, there will be growth and development. The project also relates to the dimension in that it focused on solving issues that are so difficult in the community. Therefore, the project and the elevate prize align so we'll to the dimension I selected.
During the years of my service there are different kinds of children I have experienced. There are children who are fully supported by their parents to study,there are children who want to study but cannot get the needs of the school due to poverty of their parents or else being orphans. You find they a child comes to school without a book or pen and in the long run loses interest. A child coming to school without anything to eat and spends the day on an empty stomach cannot retain learnt knowledge.With all the above experiences during my service ,I felt worth saving the existing generation if am supported with a helping hand. When I read through the elevate prize I was happy to see that it is supporting leaders and I laid down my project to be submitted. I involved the staff members, school management committee so as to lay out solutions to the problems of the school.
Am passionate about my project because I feel so brave as a woman to lead a progressing and developing community. I also feel so proud when am able to communicate and live with people of different ethnic groups and people from different parts of the world. The world is so easy and enjoyable if you are educated. Addressing poor performance of pupils in St.Mary's Mayanja primary school is so important to me because allows me to find solutions to solve it . Am motivated to pursue this work because I feel so proud when the school I am heading produces high class learner, self reliant, talented,human in relationship with other people and cooperative with other society members. I feel so great when I have played a role in a number of success. My personal connection to the community am engaging is that am also a resident in the local area .
I am well positioned to deliver this project because I am a qualified teacher with an experience of twenty years for which am tipped with experience of producing quality learners regardless of the challenges that have been hindering me . I am equipped with the following skills ; effective communication , confidence, decision making, problem solving, enthusiasm, empathy,enter-personal relationship,love for nature and patience. Inmy back ground,I managed to study from goog schools and I have tried my best to progress my curriculum vitae which has made me to aspire. The schools I have taught,I have also tried out that learners receive the best of what I can though it was backed by a number of factors for its success. uniquely,am positioned to deliver the project and alive the problem because am assured responsibility of heading the school. The school am heading I have experienced it for the last three years and am well conversant of most of the challenges that are regarding it's progress.I have tried out to solve some problems at local basis so am aware of what my stake holders can afford and what they cannot afford. So seeking support am really aware of where it's needed and am ready to use it profitably for the development of the school,my community,my nation and the world at large.
Am able to overcome challenges. When I was posted to the school ,I found out that the school had five acres of land ,the two acres of land were under use and the other three were bushy . There was a wrangle between the headteacher and the staff and it was about poor feeding. Our meals could only be posho and beans daily ,the teachers could refuse to take lunch and then afternoon lessons could not go on.The headteacher could quarrel with them but they resisted taking posho and beans daily ,this brought about disorder in the school and children could miss lessons.Being a solver,I could send pupils to come with hoes from home ,we started cultivating the school garden,planted bananas, pumpkins ,egg plants,cassava and sweet potatoes.The products from the school garden were prepared for the teacher's meals. By today, teachers have been sharing balanced meals and there is no chaos rooted from feeding .That challenge was solved and today , teachers are happy.
I have the ability to lead others because during my past experience , I was allocated responsibility and I carried it on effectively with good faith. To highlight on my leadership potential,I was posted to the school am heading as a Deputy headteacher but in just two months,I was promoted to being a headteacher. This came about by the chaos I found in the school . There was resistance of the staff members not to be led by the headteacher I was deputizing because of his harsh treatment . There was a gap between the headteacher and the staff ,the staff could nolonger listen to the headteacher's instructions neither could they put into action what he had said. I tried all my effort to link the gap but it was a very had time to me .I could have guidance and counseling sessions with different individuals to calm down the situation in the school. The school resumed fairly because the staff members could listen to me and adhere to my suggestions because we could compromise.So the staff , school management committee,the district education office compromised that the deputy should become the headteacher of the school.
