Home-made personal protective equipments
Hello, my name is Sebastine Odiba Simon, self employed heavy equipment Mechanic but have passion for making of home made products like liquid soaps, hand sanitizers and nose mask. I am a go getter with proven track of success in training youths on how to make extra cash through making home-made soaps and sanitizers.
Reduce spread of CONVID-19 by producing sanitizers and nose mask, liquid soaps and train people to be self-employed. Organize training on how to produce home-made liquid soaps, sanitizers and nose mask. My project helps elevate hunger and by innovation of self-employment hence financial motivation for people with skills.
To stop the spread of any virus at Adoka by training women and youth on how to produce home made person protective equipment like nose mask, liquid soaps and sanitizers. Over 10,000 people in Adoka community are exposed to any health outbreak and are ignorant about the use of personal protective equipment. This people are low income earners and basically farmers who do not see the importance of health safety.
Secondly, to create employment for 1500 people from Benue state.
The rate of poverty, lost of cropland, low income, drought and exposure to environmental disaster and other climate change effect on the community has made the people prone to insecurity.
I want to start a soap and sanitizers factor in Benue state, the training of Adoka people to sew nose mask, make liquid soaps and sanitizers. This sample products made during the training would be distributed to the people in each community we visit. This project will make sure it train set of people in every community it visits and sensitize them of the importance of health safefy.
To ensure the safety of rural communities in Adoka Benue state by sensitizing them on the importance of personal hygiene and how to make home-made soap, nose mask and sanitizers. The settlement in Adoka are local farmers, low income earners, skilled shoemakers, alot of unemployed youths, women and lots of elderly people.
I am a native from Adoka and have visited communities around seen for myself how they survive.
Already I trained 20 people from 4 community on how to make liquid soap and they are happy to learn other products.
My project will help address they unemployment rate, create awareness on the general health hygiene and safety from external virus.
- Elevating opportunities for all people, especially those who are traditionally left behind
Adoka is a traditional community with traders, famers and low income people who thinks virus can not affect their community. They lack exposure, civilization and poor safety measures.
First, it's was few years back I went and saw the level of drought and no source for income nor employment. Another visit to Adoka was in March 2020 during the pandemic and saw the people's poor attitude toward safety. They said the government is to be blamed for the insecurities and lack of job.
I know felt it's time to bring my dream project all this year's into reality by making steps to raise fund for a project that will benefits them and increase hygiene, health safefy and even jobs.
I am a native of Adoka Haje in Benue state Nigeria but I was opportune to enjoy all the good infrastructure in the he urban region because my family live in the city of kaduna. I visited Adoka few years ago and saw the peoples level of health insecurity and exposure to every attack, lack of job, banks and loans facility, no sponsors for the youth with skills in shoemaking, sewing and agricultural food processing. I was moved to help.
I can make home-made liquid soap with different fragrance, I also know how to make hand sanitizer. Members of my team can sew nose mask and I know a few nurses who are willing to help me sensitize the people in Adoka on how to use PPE's and frequent washing of their hands.
This people are poor, they find it foreign products expensive but will patronize product made by their own people easily.
Creating a small soap factory in Adoka will attract civilization, tourist, opportunity to the community.
Setting up a tailor shop that will employ 300 staff from the community to sew coveralls and nose mask.
I graduated with degree in Physics but did not get a job for over 2 years, I was not discouraged rather I learnt how to make home-made soaps and sanitizers which I sold in my neighbourhood to sustain a living and pay my bills.
In 2016, there was this project my team and I were responsible for giving a big presentation to a prospective client that involved research ahead of the building plan. I quickly assigned different tasks to every member of my team even the newest employee. When the time came for building the rice mill, we needed it. I am glad I took the time to listen to everyone's concerns so that I could re-evaluate my approach and help my team be the best it could be.
- Hybrid of for-profit and nonprofit
We train novice to become self-employed after which I settle you to start you own products or you choose to work for me.
My project is long-term, when I get the grant price I will build an office structure for production of soap and a training school for the mass.
