KF’s unique focus is on experimental projects in order to generate new knowledge on a comparative basis. Therefore, our fundamental tasks are to: 1) design new projects (poverty eradication, health, education, environment, employment etc. 2) educate people on the key themes and commitments (through community education and training programs/workshops/seminars/conferences/publication and dissemination). 3) Advocate policies and contribute to global decision making; 4) identify best practices for a wider replication;

Expected results from this initiative will include uplifting the rural communities from abject poverty, strengthen and developing their capacity to mitigate poverty, and thereby improving their livelihoods.
More than one billion people in the world live in object poverty, most of whom go hungry every day. Over 300 million people are officially unemployed and many more are under employed and have little hope of finding productive work. Particularly women and youth faced problems of coping with poverty, social disintegration
One of the world’s largest minorities, more than 1 in 10 , are people with disabilities and elder persons who are too often forced into poverty, social exclusion, isolation and marginalization.
Still millions of people in the world are still faced with lack of quality health care, poor education, gender inequality, access to clean water and sanitation, affordable clean energy and decent work.
While these problems are global in character, we clearly acknowledge that the situation of most developing countries, and particularly of Africa and the least developing countries, is critical and require special attention and action.
It is not lack of resources and wealth but the allocation of these which is obstructing sustainable development. It requires changes in the mindset of people in favour of a state of mind, with a value system based on solidarity, which sees the interdependence of all human activities.
Our mission is to engage rural families and communities through inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary development programmes to advance and deepen the understanding of critical and practical developmental issues relevant
Our purpose is double-pronged:
(i). To bring practical and relevant development to the rural families and communities, in order to improve the quality of life and reduce poverty within rural families and communities, and;
(ii). To enhance the lives of children, families and individuals of rural communities by providing resources, training and development tools that eliminate barriers to success and create sustainable rural development.
Objectives
KF is pursuing the following objectives:
-Improve the quality of life and reduce poverty within the communities;
-Increase access to basic water supply among the targeted population;
-Ensure safe sanitation and hygiene education;
-Build capacities of local communities in the context of foods security and integrated rural development;
-Promote entrepreneurship skills of the community – sector groups (i:e youth, women, etc.)
-Resulting in increased job creation and self-sufficiency;
-Create awareness on food security, public health, and food relief;
-Promote environmental awareness;
-Bring knowledge to rural families and communities, on national developmental agenda, and;
-Build a community of stakeholders committed to building long-term rural and community developmental agenda.
Kefikilo Foundation will engage the rural communities to understand their problems to enable the organization design and implement initiatives aimed to enhance the standard of living of people in those targeted communities. However, this program will employ a holistic approach on development whereby all stakeholders including government, civil society, private sector and community are involved in design and implementation of project and programs.Using the rights-based approach in development aspect is crucial in project implementation. A rights-based approach means integrating human rights norms and principles in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of this research proposal and programs. These include human dignity, attention to the needs and rights of vulnerable groups, and an emphasis on ensuring that communities are taken into account in all steps of this proposal. The principle of equality and freedom from discrimination is central, including discrimination on the basis of sex and gender roles. Integrating human rights into this program also means empowering poor people, ensuring their participation in decision-making processes that concern them and incorporating accountability and transparency mechanisms that they can access.
- Elevating opportunities for all people, especially those who are traditionally left behind
The idea of this project came in 2015 when I realize that I can do something to support people who are marginalized, the excluded and those who are not taken care by the system of public services. This started as an advocacy for sustainable development goals. In 2019 I have decided to come up with an organization called Kefikilo Foundation whose purpose is to enhance the standard of living of rural people and contribute to sustainable community development in Namibia. Kefikilo Foundation was born out of idea that is possible to lift Africa villages out of poverty through a massive infusion of targeted assistance. However, Kefikilo Foundation was registered recently under the Namibian law of the non-profit organization incorporated under section 21 (INCORPORATED ASSOCIATION NOT FOR GAIN). The purpose of the organization shall be carried out without gain for its members and any other accretion to the organization shall be used for promoting its purpose. The organization has ten members who serves as board of directors and whose ideas are creating new impetus for organization.
I am excited to put up this ideas into a program that will improve the quality of lives and enhance the standard of living of many people in Namibia and beyond. For over a decade I been involved in many development programs such as projects, attending national, regional and international conferences and meetings thus improve my interest in the development agenda. My passion has been always to do something for people who are in needs and make a contribution to make world a better place where dignity and equality are not mere hope, but reality for all people.
As a person who was born and grown up in the rural areas, I understand much better about poverty
and hardship. The primary goal for my project to focus in the rural areas is motivated by the fact that there is a need to ensure that people who are living in the rural areas have access to productive resources, education and training, technology, knowledge and information as well as public services, and participate in the decision making on a policy and regulatory environment that would enable them to benefit from employment and economic opportunities.
As Executive Chairman and Founder of Kefikilo Foundation will manage the organization both at administration and policy level. I am quite knowledgeable and qualified to manage Kefikilo Foundation to achieve the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness. For the past ten years I have been engaged in a variety of activities in the area of social development both at national and international level. I been involved in several community services particularly in Namibia, South Africa and Zambia thus enhanced my leadership abilities and problems solving skills.
Among other engagement I was involved includes participation in the establishment of the Namibia National Youth Service. From 2002 – 2006, I served as a Head of Desk of Youth Social Welfare at the National Youth Council of Namibia. From 2006 – 2007 I served as a coordinator of Workers newsletter for the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW). Also, served as member of the Namibia government Habitat Committee, member of the sub-committee of the Human and Social Development of Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) as we as the Governing Council member of the International University of Management. In 2008 I was elected to the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) party’s Central Committee and to the National executive Committee in 20016
Through challenging environment I have been gone through, makes me a qualified candidate to manage and able to solve the puzzle for development in developing countries particularly here in Namibia.
Since I come up with the ideas of this program, I been faced with many constraints related to delay, finance and coordination. First you arrange a program which is supported by rural population and in most cases these program are not taking off due to lack of financial support. I continue to ensure that this gap is filled. In Namibia we are satisfied with political stability but we go through difficult of financial exclusion especially when you want to deal with issues even as we solve the problem of platforms for service delivery. And they are important issues that need to be tackled. It is important to note that the goal of poverty reduction, or even eradicatio
What I can say is that this transformative agenda is turning into concrete steps that can be implemented. To deal with these challenges, we will develop partnerships matrix with relevant stakeholders for the project development. In addition, we will create a long term vision that can easily identify the various things required to achieve it. With the use of data and facts, we can explain to our partners and donors about our long term goal and the processes, resources required to ensure success.
I remember when I addressed the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) held in Johannesburg, South Africa in September 2002 as a Namibian youth representative at the time. It was a moment when my statement captured the attention of many people in Namibis and SADC region as it was reported all over in the radio and television. I spoke about the empowering of youth through employment for sustainable development. I informed the world leaders at the time that there is a serious need to include young people at all levels of action, follow – up and implementation. The summit focused on the five keys thematic areas - Water, Energy, Agriculture, Health and Biodiversity in a short acronym [WAHEB]. In 2004 and 2005 I have implemented a project titled WSSD Follow – up Youth Forum a project of the National Youth Council of Namibia. The aim of this youth forum was to make a follow up on the regional advocacy and information sharing on the Johannesburg plan of implementation.
