Mother's Room and Breastfeeding Support to Retain Women
- Pre-Seed
Healthy Horizons empowers mothers in the workforce before and after they give birth by providing mother’s rooms, breastfeeding equipment, and education. During pregnancy and after birth, bias and challenges prevent many women from staying in the workforce. Healthy Horizons solves this by providing the tools organizations and women need.
1. Healthy Horizons offers a comprehensive approach to workplace lactation support for organizations that have breastfeeding mothers as employees. We provide breastfeeding equipment, mother’s room servicing, and easy to access education. We take care of everything so companies can focus on their core competencies and mothers can focus on work instead of the challenges that breastfeeding at work poses.
2. Supporting breastfeeding women retains them at a key point in their careers where many are pressured to leave the workforce due to lack of support. This creates a mommy penalty that can reduce their earnings and overall wealth. It takes potential leaders out of the candidate pool for key positions that will help balance out organizational leadership.
3. As breastfeeding support is normalized and becomes a standard benefit for working mothers, the number of women who remain in the workforce will increase. This is a critical retention point for women across the globe that is not being fully addressed, Healthy Horizons is here to change this.
There is a lack of support for breastfeeding women in the workforce, this affects female employee retention, morale, job satisfaction, and work life balance. In the United States there are 2.2 million women in the workforce who are giving birth annually. 43% of these women leave the workforce every year as a result of not yet having adequate support.
Globally support is needed that focuses on the mother and her career needs as she transitions into motherhood so she can have financial stability, career opportunities, and not be penalized by the bias associated with having a child.
Women need the resources to level the playing field after having a baby since women are often the ones who typically take on the additional workload that a child brings. Healthy Horizons gives them the resources and easy access to these tools and resources. We educate their employers on the benefits and advocate on their behalf.
The impact from creating the breastfeeding and new parent tools and resources women need to stay in their careers is that women are able to earn a living and fully participate in the economy. Our solution empowers women by supporting them after they give birth and positively affects the finances and health of their families. This is deployed through organizations and companies and is a benefit and resources to women. Some countries mandate support by law, but retention and the economic benefits to women and employers is key to this solution.
