Me.reka Makerspace
Me.reka combines Sustainability & STEAM education in an engaging and skills-based approach to develop talent that will shape the future.
The ideal innovator of the future is not someone who is an expert in one field, but rather an agile learner who is able to integrate their understanding of multiple fields into a service or product.
Me.reka is set up to do exactly this. Me.reka is a space to invent and learn; with access to industry experts, state-of-the-art tools and 21st century relevant educational modules. Me.reka is where we mix the sciences, arts and
people together. Me.reka through its commercial link gives students the opportunity to work on real-world projects with possible large scale impact, and with situations that include clients, deadlines, budgets and teams.
Me.reka is equipped with a wood and metal workshop, electronic lab, textile studio, design studio, virtual reality facilities, and a cafe.
In South-East Asia and many developing nations, despite ongoing development the majority of families are not equipped with the right learning skills and tools that enable meta-cognitive development.
Here at Me.reka we are teaching the skills to prepare youths for the demands and opportunities of the 21st century by :
Showing them the importance of cross-disciplinary approaches and working in diversely talented teams.
Introducing sustainability driven solutions with long term impact.
Identifying and implementing content suitable for women, disenfranchised and low income communities.
Teaching the latest theories and applications from any industry, and how to use it creatively by providing the students with all the relevant tools to practice.
Teaching topics on technology such as AR/VR, 3D printing, Laser/CNC cutting, electronics engineering which are typically not accessible in public schools.
Learning by doing through hands-on projects and immersive experience, encouraging experimentation and learning from mistakes.
Working together with Industry partners to identify and mentor students to encourage further development of talent.
This unique approach creates a talent pool that is resourceful, engaged and informed enough to take on the challenges of our future.
We hope to partner to start more centers such as this all over the world.
As an impact-driven enterprise, we aim to provide an inclusive space for people from all backgrounds with access to these state-of-the-art tools, industry expertise and educational programs. We want to bring quality education, exposing students from under served communities to the latest technologies, inspiring them to dream bigger.
