SOSHUB Inc.
I am the founder of SOSHUB Inc, a diploma holder in Logistics and Transport Management, self-taught programmer and an ICT-based entrepreneur seeking possible ways to help African communities improving beyond imagination using the trending technologies.
I was named best honoured to be one of the college class representatives in 2016.
I am currently a 2019 Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program cohort and the hub lead for my country (Tanzania) and the Tony Elumelu Foundation leading more than 500 entrepreneurs.
Problem: The imploding unemployment rate whereby the number of youths without jobs continue to grow rapidly with thousands of them expecting to land a job in the market.
Graduation ceremonies are always filled with joy and a sigh of relief for having made it to the podium, but soon after, worries start flooding in as there’s no clear path to landing a job.
Solution: SOSHUB is the social network and hub for young entrepreneurs and professionals from different higher learning institutions that builds and influences a professional and entrepreneurial ecosystem among its users.
Impacts: SOSHUB makes it all easy for its users to get started with their careers by using full supported hubs which are created for each area of interest also known as professional industries. A hub helps a user to interact, connect, network and learn from other members forming an ecosystem among the
SOSHUB is committed to solve the imploding unemployment rate whereby the number of youths without jobs continue to grow rapidly with thousands of them expecting to land a job in the market.
Each year, 900,000 young Tanzanians enter the job market that is generating only 50,000 to 60,000 new jobs. Meanwhile, with 600 million young globally slated to enter the job market in the next decade with only 200 million jobs awaiting them, the youth unemployment crisis is not projected to improve anytime soon.
There several factors contributing to the problem of unemployment to youths, these factors may differ from place to place such as:
1. Professional incompetence; a number of graduates have demonstrated poor professional skills for the respective job post such as poor communication skills when interviewed using the preferred official language i.e. English and French language.
2. Lack of experience for the job posts whereby it has been reported that 90 percent of private sector have required at least 2 years of experience of which graduate applicants have failed in that case, one has to cheat to secure a job.
3. Not having the right resources to get them started with entrepreneurship journey to create more jobs.
SOSHUB is the social network and hub for young entrepreneurs and professionals from different higher learning institutions that builds and influences a professional and entrepreneurial ecosystem among its users.
SOSHUB uses hubs to serve its users, these hubs are created basing on a designated area of interest. There are mainly two types of hubs, professional hubs and entrepreneurial hubs. Each hubs has got its own leadership that runs it making sure everything is in order. Leadership is a hub's number one resource, other resources are the tools and features that SOSHUB offers such as discussion forums, live virtual meetups and post to trend for members to showcase their work and skills to support and inspire one another.
Hub working scenario:
Hilda is a makeup artist who belongs to a beauty and fashion hub, she is looking for facial models for her new project, she goes searching them right from her hub and got her best options that fit for the project, as that isn't just enough to complete her project, Hilda has to find a very good photographer from a different hub to take the professional photos for her project.
SOSHUB is meant to serve young entrepreneurs and professionals from different higher learning institutions (recent graduates) that cannot find a clear path to land a job in the market or create ones for thousands other youths that are being affected by the imploding unemployment rate that constantly grows.
SOSHUB acts as an ecosystem that create enough loop for young entrepreneurs and professional to build up and utilize the maximum of their skill set to create values that sells inside and outside SOSHUB as a platform.
Many youths from the higher learning institutions wish to create decent jobs for themselves and for thousands others but they certainly lack the right resources to get them started to actually see the entrepreneurial opportunities. By using the full supported hubs, SOSHUB is going to make it all easy for them to explore and exploit the ecosystem and use it with the outside world as well.
- Elevating opportunities for all people, especially those who are traditionally left behind
Well in order to elevate opportunities for all people, we have to enable small and new businesses, especially in untapped communities, to prosper and create good jobs through access to capital, networks, and technology, a fully supported and moderated ecosystem is going to be needed. SOSHUB has got all that this particular group needs to get started.
SOSHUB is a bridge between its users and the outside world.
SOSHUB is a platform for both young entrepreneurs and professional.
I was a college student at the National Institute of Transport basing in Dar es Salaam Tanzania, pursuing my diploma in Logistics and Transport Management who was very much interested in digital technology nicknamed IT-guy for it, I would always help my classmates with their computerized tasks because my skills were far beyond anyone in the classroom. During my sophomore year 2015, my classmates had selected me as their class representative, and that's when I got a chance to come up with solutions to solve of their problems starting by creating a forum for our class using simple Php scripts, I later thought of making it to work for the whole college calling it the SONIT Forum whereby SONIT stands for the Student Organization of NIT(National Institute of Transport). My hunger to solve the communication flow challenges for the students was eventually growing and evolving to finally come up with the solution that could work for all college in Tanzania, that is when I had to get partner, my first partner was Suleiman Mzungu, the Minister of Academic Affairs of SONIT at a time, with whom I started a team of five to make the SOSHUB dream coming to reality.
Well, that is simply because I love doing what I do while struggling for the past six years improving my solution to finally make it to work the best way I vision it. I still believe that SOSHUB could improve the global unemployment challenge if is technically done right. Zero unemployment rate will without a doubt remain just a dream but with SOSHUB we could hugely control its rapidly growth to a pleasant level. The level of impacts that unemployment challenge has to our economy differs from countries to countries, whereby it has shown great loss to most of African countries especially in Tanzania where the chain of several other problem comes to join the forces such as hunger, bureaucracies, corruptions, diseases, moral crimes, etc. SOSHUB would very much love to offer economic solutions to all these challenges by effecting the equal opportunities for all people around the globe.
I strongly posses much of the technical skills needs for the project being executed the right way such as Web Programming with Php and JavaScript, Graphics design working with Adobe Cloud Suit. I single-handily designed and developed the web version of the platform from the scratch. I myself had designed its cool looking logo, managed its functionalities the full stack way.
As a political leader for the governing political party, CCM in 2016-18 at youth level I was able to persuade hundreds of my fellow youth into joining the party within just a few months before the general election. The numbers were arguably better than what my predecessor ever could. I sadly had to resume my services in2017 due to college schedule being so tight and got back in 2018 to finish my leadership term.
I am one of the 2019 Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program Cohorts certified to work on any business project. Before I got nominated without my knowledge, I used to help my fellow cohorts shaping their ideas, making their business stand out for the potential investors. For a cohort to finally receive his or her 5,000$ from the foundation, one has to get his or her business plan approved, many cohorts didn't make it at first time like some of us, I had to help reworking on their plans and finally got approved, so I believe myself to be supportive and possess strong leadership skills to make my all this to work.
The huge challenges that most of graduates are facing is the fact that they have to commit themselves into self-employment with no clear paths and guides through it. There are people with just different level of impact form this, there are those with absolutely no idea of what to do as entrepreneurs but wants to take the risks, there are those with ideas but not enough knowledge to do it the right way, there are those with the money to do it but lucks an element or two for entrepreneurial venture, those with almost all the qualities but no funding opportunities, etc.
SOSHUB's ecosystem is all about bringing these groups together in the economic platform to pursue their respective dream. Engaging them into teaming up to work and learn from on another.
I was named a class representative in 2015-2016 at the National Institute of Transport.
I was a political leader for the governing political party CCM in 2017-18 as the Azimio Ward Chairman at youth level. Azimio is the street which I grew up as a child.
I am currently the Tanzanian hub lead and the ambassador for the Tony Elumelu Foundation since 2019.
