Guzan ventures nig limited
My name is ojielo chukwuebuka dinan. Nigerian, 24yrs. Chief executive officer Guzan ventures nig limited. Past farmer manager at supreme farm (2013_2017).
The protein consumption rate in Nigeria and Africa is very poor compared to other nations and continent. The number of children living with kwashiorkor is very high due to poor intake of protein. Protein deficiency related diseases are high in hospital in Nigeria.
We want to increase the number of protein consumption rate by increasing the production rate, reducing the price of the product. By venturing into agriculture it will help us solve the issues of protein deficiency related diseases.
My projects will help people live healthy and safe from diseases. According to national bereau of statistics. Over 18 million Nigerians are unemployed, and through agriculture, individuals we gain employment.
The rate of kwashiorkor and protein deficiency related diseases is high in Nigeria. Over 6million children in Northeast of Nigeria are malnurished and lack protein. According to United children emergency fund, over 16million children aged 6_17 lack protein for normal development. According to our annual survey by association of midwives of Nigeria, over 600,000 women complain of weight loss after menstruation due to removal of protein in the plasma. The price of livestock in our society is high and poor individuals can't afford to buy them. And lack of awareness program about the importance of protein in the body are the factors for the slow intake of protein.
We started our project to reduce the price of livestock by increasing the production to meet up demand.
My project is to increase the protein consumption rate in Nigeria and Africa, through massive production and services. Through producing about 16million livestock yearly, it will increase the consumption rate to 75%.
My product will reduce protein deficiency related diseases and kwashiorkor seen in children. It will help menstruating women regain their normal blood composition. And increase the general well being of individuals.
Women and children need protein more for replacing of worn out tissue, tissues repair, growth and development. Through our research we find out that protein help in regulation of acid base balance, maintenance of oncotic pressure and production of trephone substances.
Through our awareness campaign and workshop. We were able to enlighten women and children about the importance of protein in their body. We started sharing eggs to primary schools and girls hostels to wake their spirit to embrace protein.
- Elevating issues and their projects by building awareness and driving action to solve the most difficult problems of our world
Through workshop and awareness campaign, we were able to enlighten the general public about the importance of protein in the body. By reducing the price of livestock in the market will encourage individuals to consume more animal driven protein.
Sharing of eggs to hostels and schools can help people understand the importance of protein.
Am a physiotherapy student in University of Nigeria Enugu campus. During our Ward round. I started reading patient folders, I discovered that about 67% of the patient in the hospital is suffering from protein deficiency related diseases. I carried a research on some patient and I discover that some are living sedentary lifestyle, some are unaware of benefits of animal driven protein products etc. So I decided to start my project to see if the number of people suffering from protein related diseases can reduce.
The number of women and children in hospital are very high, some are caused by other diseases but over 67% are caused by lack of protein and malnutrition. I want to increase the protein consumption rate so that children, men and women will live healthy. Children in the hospital with kwashiorkor disease always feel neglected and depressed, that is why my team want to give everyone equal opportunity to health.
Seeing the number of protein consumption rate in Africa and Nigeria and other continent increase always motivate me and encourage my team.
I was the former farm manager of supreme farm in Enugu (2013_2017). I have raised up to 1.6 million birds with 28% mortality rate during my time at the company. I use natural products in breeding our poultry birds. Other companies use chemicals to hasten the development of the their birds, but I use natural products and wait for normal development of our birds.
I started GO PROTEIN in 2015, to sensitize individuals on the benefits of protein.
The economy in my country is very poor, the cost of production of livestock is very high. The feed and concentrate we give to our birds are increasing in price every day.
We started to engage farmers to start cultivating corn for us, corn which is the important components of feed is used by our team to produce the food. The farmers in return get little money and manure (birds dropping) from our team. This now reduce the money we spend on feed and production of livestock.
I started with three day old chicks in my home. I had a cage beside my house, every morning I go there to check up on them. Till one day when I was coming back from school, I saw that one has died, I cried because I was attached to them and even gave them name. I tried to find out what killed the bird. I noticed it was because of high temperature, so I vowed to keep the remaining two with care. Days turn to weeks, and weeks to month, they grow and was very healthy. I sold the two to my neighbor who always encourage me. So I use the gain I made to buy ten old chick, from there many people now know me and always book my product during festive period. I had to expand the cage to accommodate more old day chick. Now more people know me.
- Hybrid of for-profit and nonprofit
Involving farmers in our team has made the cost of production of livestock very easy and cheap. We introduce trade by barter where farmers give us corn used for production of animal feeds and take manure from us for development of their crops.
Other firm use chemicals to hasten the development of their livestock which is very harmful to health. We use natural products and wait for normal development of our livestocks.
The number of children and women suffering from protein related diseases in Nigeria is about 67%. When we started the project we way to reduce the disease rate and increase consumption rate. We are targeting of producing about 600million livestock yearly to make a change in the society.
Protein rate seen in some average and rich individuals in Nigeria is normal, about 1.2kcal/gram is consumed everyday compared to 0.33kcal/gram seen in poor and vulnerable ones.
When we reduce the price of livestock to 5usd, we noticed an increase of protein in poor individuals to about 0.99kcal/gram per day.

Market imperfection has been a barrier. And elevate price can help me with technical assistance in marketing and competitive strategies.
Elevate price can help me organize programme that can assist in the acquisition of modern technology.
The price will ensure that I have adequate and continuous supply of raw materials.
- Funding and revenue model
- Marketing, media, and exposure
The money gotten from elevate will go into expansion of our farm. So that more livestock will be reared to meet up demand and reduce the price of livestock.
We need media exposure, so that individuals will know about our firm and what we offer.
The model pharmaceutical, due to the high mortality rate of day old chicks, we need the pharmaceutical to have a branch close to our farm, so that our animal scientist can have full access to drugs and reduce the mortality rate.
The National Television authority_ we need total media support to increase the number of consumers and enlightenment individuals on the benefits of protein.
