Elemental Dynamics is an advanced alternative energy company which provides an advanced energy generation solution based on focused solar power to steam conversion, with additional distributed energy products in the pipeline.
Mission Statement - Elemental Dynamics intends to provide the highest quality o renewable power generation and water processing available while providing the highest degree of responsible stewardship for people and planet.
Product - This product is steam generation from focused solar energy. This design is considered Concentrated Solar Power (CSP), not photovoltaic (PV), but it operates with magnified solar energy not reflected solar energy, that’s what makes this technology uniquely novel. The resultant steam can be used in the generation of electrical power or the system can be used to desalinate salt water.
In a nutshell, Elemental Dynamics would like to solve Climate Change and resolve the critical water shortage. I know those are huge problems, but I believe Elemental Dynamics is one step closer to solving each challenge, using the same baseline technology.
There are several problems a solar to steam generation can solve:
* Steam to electrical power generation
* Steam to desalinated water
* Steam to radiant heat
* Steam to industrial process heating
All with the same base system, with some modifications:
* Solar to atmospheric water extraction
* Flat panel wind to electrical energy generation
Simplistically, if you were to use a specific sized magnifying glass and used the suns energy to heat a specific sized copper container, filled with a specific amount water, you would achieve steam. We have expanded on this concept by creating a proprietary linear plano-convex lens which focuses a string of solar energy on a specially prepared copper thermal receiving tube. Each lens/tube combination is called an element, six elements are plumbed together in series to create a cell. each cell is focused using a scissor jack assembly to adjust for yearly azimuth and the tubes are rotated to track the daily path of the sun. Multiple cells are connected together to form an array, depending on the required amount of power. The same control system that manages to focusing apparatus also monitors wind speed, lowering the system to mitigate wind resistance, and manages the autonomous cleaning feature. The control system also reports system status, notifications and performance data. The system was designed with a modular modality, each cell being about 6' by 6' to be efficiently placed on flat surfaces such as roofs for process heating and power generation or in parking lots acting as car port/charging stations.
Altruistically speaking, a portion of each sale will go towards funding systems for less developed areas. This means villages in Africa, India, and other less fortunate areas, could, for the first time, have stable electrical power and clean drinking water. Even within our own country, this system will significantly reduce our carbon footprint and eventually may alter the tide of Climate Change, which would make a global impact.
- Elevating opportunities for all people, especially those who are traditionally left behind
Elevating opportunities for all people, especially those who are traditionally left behind - this statement encompass Elemental Dynamics intent to lift up the less fortunate people, the people who have been left behind, not in the luxuries of life, but in the basic needs, the necessities of life, like clean drinking water and stable electrical power to create a warm place to sleep and allowing less fortunate people an opportunity to make more of their situation by provide for some of their basic needs.
The progression of the Elemental Dynamics Solar Concentrator started from the simple concept of using a Fresnel lens, from an overhead projector, to focus solar power onto a media, copper plate with protrusions, refereed to as a target, from which the heat could then be extracted with a fluid. The target is seated in the manifold. As the target is heated by the sun, fluid is flowed through the manifold across the target protrusions at which point the fluid absorbs the heat.
The solar tracking assembly will keep the concentrator’s energy absorption module focused by manipulating the two axes of articulation, the daily rotation and the yearly azimuth.
However, this method was in-efficient due to the length of plumbing between the targets. With the most recent advances in the design, it has been possible to remove the manifold, change the target architecture and vastly simplify the enclosure design. Along with these changes came a significant decrease in cost of materials, labor hours for assembly, and maintenance. Additional improvements can be seen in the significant reduction in wind resistance in the deployed state and even more so when it is compressed against the roof as in nighttime or during high winds.
This project has been my passion, and obsession, over the past 20 years because I know it is desperately needed for all walks of life. It is essential that we, as a race, stop burning fossil fuels, stop polluting our rivers, lakes and oceans, and start becoming the stewards of our planet. We have not reached the point of no return, but we will within our children's lifetime. I wish for this system to reverse the trend and allow humanity an opportunity to change its destructive patterns before its too late.
I am well positioned to deliver on this project for the following reasons:
* I, personally, have Over 40 years of manufacturing and R&D experience
* Bachelor degree in Engineering and a Masters degree in Business
* Well versed in mechanical and electrical design
* Proven leader in business
* Elemental Dynamics has assembled a strong core team that has been working together for years
* We have completed many years of successful development and testing
* Attended and successfully passed the Founder Institute courses
* We have completed all of the paper designs, identified all of the production components, completed all of the bills of material and have a full understanding of the costing and sales structure
* We have received quotes from vendors and we are ready start production the moment we receive funding
How to overcome adversity, two step solution:
1) Learn what you don't know
2) Never, ever, give up
There are so many projects in my working career in which I had to come up with a solution that it has become second nature for me. The first situation that comes to mind is when a military customer came into our facility to show us how to remove their populated printed circuit board from the carrier frame. The method they used cause the PCB to de-laminate, instantly destroying a $10,000 board. After the same result were achieved a second time I designed a fixture that held the board in place and a method for singulating the board that eliminated any damage from that point forward. Another military customer way paying us $5 in labor to assemble components to a heatsinks, there were 48 heat sinks per assembly. I designed and built a pneumatic tool that would allow the heatsink to be assembled in under 1 minute. For a medical device company, which I hold two patents under, I implemented a way to created and use modular software files to be used across a wide variety of equipment.
While working for a medical equipment company a group called the Ideation Forum was formed to come up with new products for the company. The leader of the forum was a Dartmouth graduate employing all of the latest methods for idea generation. After the third session, it was apparent that we were not making any progress. When I suggested a more practical method for idea generation, recording and voting, I was elected as the new Ideation Forum Moderator. The previous leader is still a good friend to this day. Currently, within my HOA, I have been asked and have accepted to head up the Security Committee and the Pier Club Committee. I have been told that I was asked to head up these committees because of my logical, level headed and kind nature, I am seen as a natural leader.
