I operate a mobile clinic through which I render healthcare services at the doorstep of elderly ,chronically ill and people living in remote areas of my community. There is increasingly difficulty in accessing basic healthcare services for most people now due to fear of visiting hospitals and becoming exposed to to COVID-19. My project support in the fight against coronavirus by delivering basic healthcare services at the doorstep of people who are under lockdown due to the COVID-19 Crisis. We also plan to use the coronavirus test kit to test those at risk and the general public at the comfort of their homes. We also plan to deliver hand sanitizers, face masks and other protective equipments at the doorstep of individuals who are in lock down. As part of our project, we remotely monitor the healthcare states of individuals at the comfort of their homes.
We are trying to solve the problem of poor accessibility to basic healthcare services and emergency health services among people who are bound to stay at the home due to the covid-19 lockdown especially Elderly, disabled, chronically ill and people living in rural areas. Over 80% of these target group in my state don't have good access to basic care for their condition. This is due to the fact over 90% of them don't have cars or good transportation system which will convey them to hospital on time in case of medical emergencies or need to visit hospital.
My project involve using movable clinics to deliver healthcare services at the comfort of their homes .The healthcare services will include nursing care, physiotherapy, health counseling, health education and training. The Mobile Clinic will be equipped with basic medical service facilities such as handy ultrasound scan and X-ray machines, hospital beds, Resuscitation devices etc. There will be a nurse and a Doctor attached to the clinic. We will have an emergency toll free number which patients call when they need our services. We will also remotely monitor the health of the patients. We will do this using a satellite system which will be connected to a sensor that the patient will wear. My project is easily scaleable because it involve using an everyday human resource ie Doctors ,nurses and also using facilities which are already in usage in hospitals. My project will scale through social media campaign and through community sensitization campaigns. We will also do door-door visits for our Target audience in their homes. We will scale and sustain our project by establishing a micro-health insurance scheme where patients will pay just 15 USD monthly in order to unlimitedly access our services. This fund will enable us to sustain the mobile clinic.
My project serve Elderly, disabled , chronically ill and disabled people who live in Anambra state, Nigeria. These group of people have difficulty in accessing basic healthcare services and are often neglected.
Before starting my project,I engaged them by sharing a survey with them to know what their needs are and how they can be met.
I am meeting their needs by delivering healthcare services at their doorstep.
- Elevating opportunities for all people, especially those who are traditionally left behind
I make Healthcare services accessible to the most vulnerable category of people in my community, thereby increasing their opportunity of living a healthier life.
I came up with this project idea in 2017 when I lost my best friend in a rural community because she was living in an area without basic healthcare services.
This motivated me to start up this idea in 2018.Initially ,I piloted my project using my own personal vehicle to render healthcare services at the doorstep of vulnerables in remote communities.
I am motivated to pursue this idea because my best friend died as a result of healthcare neglect while living in the community that I currently serve.
I am a medical doctor with 5 years experience. I have certification in telemedicine, public healthcare, health enterpreneurship and NGO management.
My volunteer experience with UNDP, UNFPA and other international organizationsi in the past has also given me the motivation to work towards impacting positively on the health of people.
In December 2019,my mobile clinic vehicle had an accident and broke down.
I dealth with the situation by using my own personal vehicle equipped with medical equipments to render my services.
I have been a national co-ordinator of an international youth family planning organization in Nigeria in 2018 through which I influenced over 200000 couples living in Nigeria to adopt various family planning methods.
- Hybrid of for-profit and nonprofit
My project is innovative because unlike other Healthcare systems where people have to visit Hospitals or Health centres,we deliver Healthcare services at the doorstep of our Target clients.

We currently serve 1000 people.
In the next 5 years,we aim to be serving over 500,000 people in Nigeria.
Our goals in the next 1 year is to decrease morbidity rate among our Target clients by 50%.
In the next 5 years ,we aim to decrease morbidity and mortality rate among our Target clients by 90%.
Our main barrier is difficulty in accessing fund to scale our project and procure medical equipments.
We tend to overcome this barrier by applying for funds from donors and by creating a micro health insurance system where our Target clients can contribute 15USD monthly.
We have partnership with Goethe INSTITUTE and Commonwealth Youth Council.
They are the initial funders of our project and they also help in monitoring and evaluation of our project.
We render basic healthcare services at the doorstep of elderly, disabled, chronically ill and people living in remote areas of Anambra state, Nigeria.
We do this by utilizing a movable clinic.
We generate revenue through monthly subscription payments made by our Target clients
We tend to be sustainable through applying for grants ,in-kind donations and community health contributory insurance scheme which we plan to establish.
We have received three different grants so far .
The first was a 3300USD Grant from Goethe INSTITUTE in 2019,then the 200usd microgrant from UCB,USA and the 250USD Micro grant donation from Commonwealth Youth Council.
We generated 1000usd in revenue in the last one year.
We are planning of raising 10000USD in funding by applying for grants and through in-kind donations.
Our estimated total expenses in 2020 is 15000USD.
I want to apply for the elevate prize in order to secure funding to purchase medical facilitaties that we need for our social Enterprise.
