From Street to safety
I am Ahmed from Sudan when I am 30 years old, i graduated from university in 2014 and is now studying my master's degree. Work in agriculture and sustainable development. I also work with a number of national organizations and associations working in the humanitarian field.
We seek to save children displaced from the streets and the attendant dangers of drugs, hunger and disease.
We will continue to inventory and search for displaced children to provide food, education, clothing and shelters.
We believe that this group of society needs care and attention because in this way we have contributed significantly to the beginning of humanity around the world.
There are more than 20,000 displaced people in Sudan, which is on the rise, especially after the Corona pandemic.
Through fao, in collaboration with the relevant organizations, we seek to accommodate this number by providing food, education and housing through the establishment of shelters and we have so far established 3 centers where we provide breakfast and lunch.
The organization from the road to safety is an organization of the name that deals with those on the street, especially children. We have been working for 4 years and we have established the (Noor Awad) Care Center. We offer about 150 breakfasts and 100 lunches for homeless children at day inside the market in Kassala, as well as in Port Sudan.
The organization also guarantees a number of children in schools, which is at an advanced stage after the reform of the center. We seek to move forward.
Children are the pillars of the future and they are also in a situation where they have no guilt. To sleep in the streets and be harmed in all its forms as well as disease, so everyone must work to save these children in order to live a decent life like others, a right guaranteed by all international norms and laws and religions. So we in the Organization are investing in the future.
- Elevating opportunities for all people, especially those who are traditionally left behind
We are also working to raise awareness among children and the community. Caring for children in general and homeless children is a collective and moral responsibility that we must take care of. Therefore, it is certainly in line with the objectives of your project, which works to promote the values of solidarity and humanity through the award.
The idea of the project began after the death of our mother, who was caring for children like those in our organization. They were with us at home and they got the same care and attention that we were in until they were successful in their society, some of whom became teachers, some of whom became successful mothers, housewives, and so on.
Hence, it was the beginning that we named the first care centre by its name (Nour Awad) in recognition of what she has done in her life in the service of humanity as much as she can.
We grew up in an environment and a family that served human beings and humanity and this is something we have been working on and we feel it is our duty to do so before the establishment of the organization. When we did this work, we provided the needs of our personal income. Therefore, we will certainly continue and will provide precious and precious to develop and expand the project to cover all of Sudan and then Africa and the world at large.
We started with extensive relationships locally and globally where we have basic care from friends in Norway and Europe. We also have high coordination with the Sudan Ministry of Social Affairs and UNICEF.
At the beginning of the project we faced a number of obstacles, especially in terms of funding and location. But when we set up the first care center and its location was in the middle of the market but we were surprised a year later that the place was sold to me by a merchant and we must evacuate as soon as possible and it was a great challenge especially since it had a convenient location and also became known to everyone especially children who frequent visit from time to time. But with the determination of the working group we searched for another site with good specifications, but this time the land must be owned by the Organization and not by the Government so that the mistakes will not happen again and we have succeeded in doing so and life has returned to the centre better than it was.
When I was a kid, my mother called me "The Grand" and my family called me "Mayor" and when I was in school I got the title of "Best Actor" at the state level for three consecutive sessions 2005.2006.2007 And when I entered the university I was elected president of the union in college after only 3 months, the first year of the university. All these things have burdened my experience a lot, and I'm going to keep going.

In 2019, 1,155 children were admitted to the centre and 538 were enrolled in schools.
Therefore, we expect that by the end of this year there will be more than 2,500 children in care at the Centre and about 1,000 in schools, which makes it imperative for us to find new sources of funding and support and to participate in this programme in this context, which will certainly contribute to the achievement of the organization's long-term goals.
