TREE Token : A crypto-impact fund for forestry & climate

TREE Token is a crypto-impact fund investing in agroforestry climate projects. It leverages funding to tackle climate change at scale.

Today more than 10 million trees are cut every day and climate change is a critical issue for our future. I am the founder of PUR Projet (www.purprojet.com) a  social enterprise specialized in the development of agroforestry climate projects, Yet, we managed to plant only 10 million trees in 10 years. How to go from 10 million trees planted in 10 years to 10 million trees planted every day. The creation of TREE Token as an agroforestry impact fund, leveraging funding from crypto and impact investors is a way to to so : leveraging funding and being able to trace and manage financial flows with lower transaction costs, total transparency and liquidity for the token holders. We feel TREE Token and crypto-assets are a great way to engage everybody in climate action while proving these investments are profitable. We 're building the first crypto-impact fund, combining blockchain technology with impact finance & projects, to unlock the climate challenge. Crypto brings transparency, low transaction fees and liquidity to impact investments, hence leveraging funding to at for climate and forests at scale. 

The ambition of TREE Token is as well to prove that you can both impact and make money. (3 to 7 % ROI expected for Token holders).

Blockchain is at the heart of this project. TREE Token is a crypto asset (Security Token developed on the Ethereum blockchain) allowing to invest directly in agroforestry impact projects. Investments, activities, yields, prices and net results of operations along the supply chains of the investments are blockchain registered, hence allowing transparency on the use of funds and the returns on investments made, with direct payments of interests to the token holders. Planted parcels are registered in a Geographical Information System (GIS), blockchain registered as well. 

Goal to leverage 10 million euros to plant 10 million trees and plants in the coming 12 months, generating a potential of 3 million tons of Co2 equivalent and revenues estimated at 3 to 7 % / year to token holders, over 7 years. 

Money will be invested in 2 projects in Peru and Colombia, where we already planted 5 million trees, to plant more and generate additional benefits to the 3000 participating farmers and their ecosystems.

The objective is to leverage 100 million euros over 5 years, to plant 100 million trees and plants in the current agroforestry climate projects of PUR Projet ( www.purprojet.com ) . Generating 33 million tons of Co2 equivalent and additional revenues for 20 000 farmers and 10 000 token holders. 

Ultimate goal is to help desintermediate impact finance thanks to crypto. 

PUR Projet already operates 40 agroforestry climate projects, 10 million trees planted, of which 5 in Peru and Colombia. TREE Token will invest in these 2 projects, 5 million euros each to plant 2000 additional hectares of agroforestry parcels, combining trees, cocoa and coffee, generating additional revenues for farmers. Half of additional revenues generated will serve to reimburse the investments of TREE Token holders with a 3 to 7 % yearly interest estimated. 

Profit sharing is at the heart of this project, allowing the public to co-invest with small-scale farmers in a direct and transparent partnership way. 

2000 small-scale cocoa farmers in Peru, 1000 small-scale coffee farmers in Colombia. They own 1 hectare of land, very limited yearly revenues in difficult context (like narco-traffic). They have a yearly net revenue of 500 to 1500 USD. The investment of 1 additional hectare of agroforestry will help them increase and diversify their revenues. 

The public, estimated 10 000 individuals, will have access to impact finance thanks to the Token, with limited transaction fees, even for small amounts, and have access to financial flows and return on investment.

Tristan Lecomte : social entrepreneur, 20 years experience, 2 social entreprises created, generating 70 MUSD yearly revenues. 10 MUSD already raised in capital, 100 MUSD raised as grants. Tristan is managing projects sourcing and project operational developments. 

TREE Token is a crypto impact fund investing in agroforestry climate projects. At farm level, they can generate 19 % ROI (Yearly Return on Investment), shared between farmers, their cooperatives, the TREE Fund managing the TREE Token and Token holders. Target to distribute 3 to 7 % per year for Token holders

TREE Platform (managing the fund) takes 5 % of initial funds invested (origination fee) and the Fund takes 2 % on funds invested + 20 % of the performance of the fund every year to cover its expenses. Objective is to raise 100 million euros with the Fund, generating 2 million euros yearly revenues to cover Fund expenses and generate a net revenue (estimated at 10 % of revenue from year 5 on).
