Empowering Indonesia's Future Workforce Securing Their First Job
Generasi Bisa is a recruitment platform focuses to serve High School & Vocational School Graduates in Indonesia who did not pursue higher education to secure their very first job.
These Indonesia's future workforce which almost all of them are poor and/or vulnerable youth, will become the largest in number starting from 2025 onward. They faces employment challenges as they are not equipped with the basic ability to find a job. Unable to get job vacancy information and can't distinguish the right job for themselves, unable to create the right work resume and trembling when facing a work interview are their top 3 challenges. Employers are also having difficulties in hiring them as most candidates are not qualified based on the recruitment process, resulting in a very high recruitment cost. While this problems has been around for years, not many efforts were made to solve it and not on target and/or disadvantageous for the job seeker. Take example of outsourcing company, they can provide jobs but with no career path and some even took a part of the job seekers' salary for months as "payment" for their services.
Generasi Bisa committed to solve these challenges. We created an online recruitment platform to provide our target market with job vacancy information where they can apply for jobs online. But based on our experience, this approach have 2 main issues. First, most of our job seeker are not familiar with applying for jobs through online. They've been living with a mindset of getting a job are to go directly to the company together with their printed/handwritten work resume. Second, employers looking for High School & Vocational School Graduates are hiring in bulk and need it fast. Employers have no problem in getting applicants, they receive tens of application daily. Their problems relies in finding candidates that fit and can prove themselves through out the recruitment process, and that because of the top 3 challenges I mentioned above.
Generasi Bisa combines conventional workforce distribution with online platform. We took care all of the recruitment process, leaving only work interview to be done by the employers. Our online recruitment platform will be our tools in reaching and collecting pool of job seekers, they can register and completing their background profile, and apply for jobs they interested in. From there, job seeker will be invited to our office to follow the recruitment process. We review and giving feedback on their work resume and let them to improve it on the spot. We also conduct a Work Interview Simulation to prepare and remove their fear of the real work interview.
With these approach, we believe the candidates we empowered will be able to prove their worth in the eye of employers and increase their chance in getting employed by leaps and bounds.

Generasi Bisa do not try to change or "fix" our job seekers' behavior or mindset directly. We understand it won't work because the first thing in their mind are how fill their stomach with food. Instead, we equip "job search readiness" while they follow the recruitment process they familiar with. Empower them to secure their first job is the only way to unlock their willingness to improve their life.
Also, our online recruitment platform used for reaching new job seekers, thus we eliminate manpower cost for finding new job seekers.
Our recruitment platform can be accessed through online using desktop or smartphone internet browser. It is our spearhead in reaching job seekers and storing their information data. Their data are valuable assets and indispensable for us to feed our internal online dashboard which being used by our recruitment team in finding quality candidates to be contacted to follow recruitment process and receive our "job search readiness" training.

Youth who have secured a job and able to provide food for themselves and/or their family are more willing to learn and improve their life. They also become the role model in their neighborhood that other youth trying to reach. Here in Indonesia, this ripple effect is inevitable.
As stakeholder in Making Indonesia 4.0 and working together with the role model, a positive community supported by government, industry, and education institution can be established. It will have larger positive influence and impact to other youth in the long run.

We work with YCAB Foundation who focused on youth development in all of their employment program and together in one package to join Making Indonesia 4.0 initiative from Indonesia's Government as stakeholder.
Also together with YCAB Foundation, we actively visiting vocational schools to introduce Generasi Bisa to their students and alumni.
As job seekers are actively searching for job vacancy from search engine, we carefully select the keyword on our platform to make it easier for them to find us.
Since piloting start in January 2018, we have 1,049 job seeker registered and 4 employers requesting for more than 1,500 employees in total.
Collaborating with 38 professionals of Hiring Managers and Human Resources Development as mentors, we conducted job search readiness and work-readiness training to 255 youth from 17 vocational schools in Greater Jakarta Area.
Looking at the schools' feedback asking for more of their students to be trained and the youth create whatsapp group inviting us and the mentors, now we are taking it to the next step to connect them to the employers, securing their first job.
In 12 months start from July 2018, we expect to serve 1,000 youth get employed in Greater Jakarta Area.
In 3 years we are to expand to West and Central Java with Total Addressable Market of 2,000,000 and Serviceable Available Market of 571,000. Annually we expect to see 10,000 youth secure their first job.
To justify, despite no shortage of job seekers, many companies requesting us for more than 50 employees and some asking for thousands. We strongly believe our tailored solution fit employers' and job seekers' needs the most.

The team member of Generasi Bisa are once Project Manager and IT Manager in YCAB Foundation. We have worked tens of employment & entrepreneurship programs with hundreds of Senior High Schools & Vocational Schools as our partners, tens of Corporate partners, as well as with Central Government and Local Government.
Working with them multiple times for years, we established good relationship with all stakeholders personally and professionally and we know exactly their pain points and the best practices to solve it.
We ask employers to pay for every candidates they hired from our services. All employers who made request to us has expressed their willingness to pay with that model.
In 2017, an additional number of working population amounted to 641,183 people and will continue to grow in line with the demographic bonus in Indonesia until 2030. Aligned with that enormous number of job seekers, employers are in need of new employees every year and with the Indonesia's Government initiative of Making Indonesia 4.0 attracting many foreign investments, an estimated additional 7 - 19 million of new jobs are expected to become available by 2030.
Our solution addressing the most often forgotten issue of the lower socio-economic youth being unable to perform job searching. We want more people especially in Indonesia to be more aware of this as well.
On the other hand, we still have a lot to improve ourselves. Applying to MIT Solve we wish to get mentored in technological aspect and the practices of data science, work together with other solver to advance each other solutions, and media visibility and exposure to greatly enhance our stakeholders trust and attract more potential stakeholder to join.
