The Swabon device helps to solve the issue of testing for all. Swabon is a self-testing device that allows user tests for the Covid-19 virus in 15 minutes with the result sent automatically to a server manned by the disease agencies along with the location of the user in real time

The Device is backed up by an app that allows users to see in real-time safe and unsafe areas plus precautions to take

• -In Africa, there is a dearth of doctors, as the Patient to doctor ratio is 5000: 1. This means that with the ravaging effect of the Corona Virus ( Africa has 226,031 confirmed infections according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.) and experts warn fragile healthcare systems in many African countries could be overwhelmed
• -Currently, there are over 7+ million cases of Covid-19, 400,000+ deaths as a result of the virus. With the increasing cases, even there is a cure, a quick testing solution is required to know who needs the vaccine or cure. According to the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Africa may need about 15 million tests in the next 3 months to manage the increase in cases.
• Currently the PCR test is the most used solution and it takes hours to process results, it's sensitive, expensive and in some cases quite painful  to administer.

A handy device that allows users to self-test for the corona virus and get results immediately coupled with an  app that gathers real-time data of COVID-19 detected areas/persons and inform health officials about it at the same time warn users when they are in those areas or social gatherings.

The device uses the COVID-19 IgM ELISA Assay ( A paper strip that contains antibodies specific to test for the COVID-19 Antivirus) that will be embedded in the device by taking an oral swab test after they fill out a Yes/No questionnaire on the display. The results will be shown immediately as the colour of the strip will change to reddish-pink and won’t show any red if the result is negative. 

Our target population is every single person who has no other choice but stay in Isolation who can't wait to get back to living their normal lives

Every single person that's afraid to step out of their house for fear of the virus.

Every single person that feels paranoia or feel symptoms but have no chance to get a test without putting themselves at risk especially old people

With the ravaging effect of the Covid-19 virus, Swabon would be essential solution until there is a cure

Even when there is a cure, it remains essential so as to help know who and where to administer it.

If the virus finally clears out, we can also use the device to test for other infectious diseases and pandemics in the future.

So, Swabon can be an "health-saving staple"

The Swabon is innovative because of the following

• A self-testing device that provides real-time results and data to health officials and citizens.

• Accessible to all even non-literate people and non-tech-savvy can use and interpret it since it’s user friendly (the colour coding) 

• The device can be as low as $20-$30 a unit due to local creation of our ELISA kits
  

• With the mobile app and USSD everyone can take precautions anytime they move around or in a social gathering
  

• The device is re-usable.

Unlike competitors like Letgetchecked instant test, the Swabon is cheaper and everyone can use it without supervision

Also, when compared with the normal PCR test, the swabon is simple, quicker to produce results and painless

One of the key features of the Swabon is the strip. 

The strip is made of an COVID-19 IgM ELISA Assay  ( A paper strip that contains antibodies specific to test for the COVID-19 Antivirus) that will be embedded in the device which would change color once the user's saliva touches it.x

We are confident that with the creation and usage of the SwabOn Device;

• We would quadruple testing effort in every country as every one gets a chance of getting tested.

• Get Adequate data to mitigate the effect of future pandemics

• Eventually, get the Economic and Social activities back to normal

Our collaboration with the folks at Kenyan Medical Research for the strips would also help in achieving the above.

We would seek Angel investors who are interested in the health industry especially the bio-tech niche and also apply for grants/innovation challenges.

Worthy of mention is the fact that some of the bio-tech team members are actively working with the Kenyan Medical Research Laboratories on solutions for testing the virus.

The B2G is our launch model. We would be selling devices to Governments at all levels especially African Governments to effectively help them handle testing problems, get accurate data and smart management of priorities to avoid hospitals to be overcrowded and saturated by allowing suspected cases to do a home test. 
We are focusing on the government on this first because it would help to improve reach to the people who need it, save more of our health workers and remove the burden of logistics. 
By providing bulk supply of the device (10,000 units) at $100 per unit, we can make a $1,000,000 on a single bulk order 
 
 
 
B2B & B2C 
On the other hand, we can supply Private clinics/hospitals with the device. 
These private hospitals and clinics are much closer to the people but the private hospitals don’t have the capacity to entertain any case, the device could come in handy to ease the pressure and also help to get more people tested. 

While people can also easily procure the device from us through their pharmacies and we would be in charge of delivery, logistics and investigation for customers who purchase the device from us in partnership with disease control agencies.

One of the main reasons we are applying is to get funding to scale the production of the Swabon device because we believe people need access to quick and cheaper testing more than ever so as to mitigate the effect of the covid-19 virus

The Swabon is qualified for this prize because one of the main inspirations behind the creation of this device is the overwhelming responsibility and pressure that has been put on front-line workers but with Swabon we can reduce the burden and also mitigate the risk of infection of these health workers thereby saving their lives.

Although, we might not have put our life on the line but we want to protect those who are and we have expended our resources to build this prototype.

That counts for something I presume

We qualify for the AI humanity prize because of the technology involved in the use of the Swabon device. With the Swabon device, people get their results fast, health officials get real time data (results and location) that can help disease agency in the world make informed decision.

Combined with the Swabot which is the app that takes the data from the webpage to create a map of regions that are safe and unsafe for normal users to use and protect themselves.
