As per the statistics of June 15, 2020 there are reportedly 7.69 million cases which are confirmed of being affected of COVID-19 and the world population is 7.8 billion. It's clearly unsure to say that the rest of the population is not affected with the disease. Besides, where do we lack is the testing rate.
Currently in some of the countries the testing rate is as low as 4 thousand per billion population. The idea behind CORONATECT is to increase the testing rate by manifolds on the grounds of fast pace, high reliability and high sensitivity as well as specificity of tests.
It can be made possible with the help of Machine Learning algorithms. The idea holds an immense potential and if turned into a live technique can prove fruitful for people across the globe.
To be specific the problem is of Testing people at a much faster rate for the COVID-19.
As of June 1,2020, India had conducted approximately 3.8 million tests since it began testing in February, but still many experts note the fact that testing capacity is drastically insufficient for the needs of population.
Thus a there's an immense pressure and hence a great need in particular to have a device which is highly efficient and reliable on the terms of specificity as well as sensitivity for COVID-19 tests. The goal here is to have such testing process globally available.
Since around 7.69 million people are affected with this virus, there is an enormous amount of data set available which can help in formulation as well as fast development of Machine Learning algorithm.
On simple terms, the functioning of the idea is as follows:
- Taking throat or nosal swab of a random person.
- Purifying the obtained specimen so we get the purified RNA strand only.
- Now, instead of using the rt-pcr for amplification which usually takes an hour approximately, we directly convert the obtained RNA into digital data.
- Now, using some of already formulated functions - which exactly work the same way the enzymes DNAase and other important enzymes we can convert the obtained digital result into a more feasible input.
- Now we match the data of RNA obtained(specifically the Gene Coding) to the previous available data of people who had the virus and therefore we predict a person of being attacked by the Virus.
- Not only this, many other additional factors like age, immune health and other can be included in this for a highly specific result.
Since this is a concept, so the lives being affected currently are none.
By seeking resources from innovative platforms will help to make this idea convert into a live reality. It's availability in the current global scenario will be immensely helpful for medical workers to have a fast and reliable technique of detecting whether a person has been affected of COVID-19 or not.
Also, COVID-19 is not a one-time disease. It has the potential of attacking people who have already recovered. Thus repeated testing of people through rt-pcr or Antibody tests doesn't seem to be a feasible idea. Hence, an idea which involves modern technology is the part where Machine Learning digs in.
The challenge clearly seeks for a solution for Health problems, specifically - current pandemic problem that humanity faces currently.
On the same lines, my idea is on how do we fasten the process of testing for COVID-19 in a much better and reliable manner.
Development of vaccine is not an easy task and requires a significant amount of time.
Thus people with technical knowledge must stand up for the cause. Also, talking on the terms of feasibility, it will be much easier to introduce medical health workers with a fast paced, reliable and technical idea.

The tests available to us for detecting COVID-19 currently are:
- rt-pcr technology
- Antibody Tests
- Antigen Tests
With around 7.55 million people being tested positive for the virus, there is an enormous amount of data set available which is really helpful for building a highly fruitful Machine Learning Algorithm that can be both highly specific as well as highly sensitive at the same time.
The virus is not a guest that might leave after a period a few months. Also some of the studies at the time hint of the possibilities that the virus is actually mutating over the time. Here is when Machine Learning digs in which is a self evolving and learning technology.
Unlike many commercial health agencies around the world, which have had come up with fast testing devices for the same cause, world authorities disapprove them because of their inefficiency.

Medical researchers have been working for finding the cure of COVID-19 and on the other hand their have been companies like Abott, GenMark, Labcorp and many such and many of their testing devices are not approved of World Health authorities (leaving a few).
Thus, here is the moment where technology digs in. Technical ideas can help accelerate the testing process so we may have results of Covid-19 affected population at a faster rate with higher precision. That is what Coronatect aims to achieve through the use of Machine Learning algorithms and some functions.
UAE has a testing rate of 265,661 million for it's 96.3 lakh population, while on the other side countries like India or Brazil have testing rate of 4102 million and 7552 million for its 135.26 crore and 20.95 crore population respectively. This clearly do indicates that we need a faster rate of testing to find out more of the people who are victims of Covid-19 ; at a faster rate - in which technology can help.

The idea being proposed is on the lines of working for Health of people all over the globe. COVID-19 is not a stranger to anyone on planet earth. It has affected lives of all the people as well as economies of the whole world.
Thus, it's very essential at the moment that there be a solution which can support people and economies to get back working at their feet for stabilizing the situation we face through.
Vaccine to be developed will take time and we are left with the only option of isolating people who have been affected of the Virus so they don't spread it to others and how can we accomplish that? Again and again using rt-pcr technology for testing same people, since the virus can affect an individual numerous times? NO! We have to use modern technology.
Use of Machine Learning algorithm will fasten up the process and will provide more reliable and precise results, which is the need of the hour. Hence I consider for support resources from your organization.
The idea which has been proposed solely works on the terms of Modern technology,i.e., Machine Learning algorithm.
Use of previous dataset of the COVID-19 affected population can help in formulation of advanced and self learning Machine Learning algorithm which can find the patterns inside the dataset and learn itself to predict the possibility of the person being affected with the virus or not.
Also various functions can be used to modify or manipulate the obtained GENE CODE of RNA molecule, thus having a more valuable or highly specific input of data for our algorithm. Besides specificity and sensitivity of the algorithm can be increased on repeated use which will make the Machine Learning program error less at each step.
Hence, a fast pace and reliable tech can be obtained to detect the COVID-19 victims
