Mobile laboratories Tanzania
The problem we are trying to solve is the continued spread or vast spread of an infection or disease in Tanzania in times of a pandemic or even after a pandemic. Our solution is to establish mobile laboratories in the country that will move around to collect blood samples of people that might be suspected to have certain infections especially corona virus, hiv/aids and the Ebola virus. After testing, people will know the status of their health and will be sensitized about how not to spread it as well as receive first aid and immediate help. Many people will also be awarded employment opportunities in line with the laboratories for example medical workers, laboratory technicians and drivers.
We are trying to solve the spread of an infection and disease during and after a pandemic as well as reduce the spread of other diseases and infections. During the corona virus outbreak in Tanzania, many people are spreading the virus because they do not know whether they are infected or not basing on the fact that some people can carry the virus without showing any symptoms.
our solution is generally is a set of mobile laboratories with fully equipped laboratory equipment that will move from door to door as per requirement to collect blood samples of suspected patients during and after pandemics, to be specific, corona virus, hiv and aids and Ebola infections in order to curb the spread of those infections and viruses to upto 80%
The solutions serves the residents of the United republic of Tanzania by allowing the population to be healthy in a way to stopping and reducing the spread of diseases and infections through letting know the public the state of their health by checking their blood samples thus allowing them to take action accordingly.
The solution related to the challenge by reducing the spread of pandemics and other infections and diseases within the population by allowing the population to know the status of their health through tested and collected samples so the population would know how to protect others by knowing the status of their health by acting accordingly.
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea
- A new application of an existing technology
In Tanzania at the moment there are absolutely no existing mobile laboratories, my business solution is innovative basing on the fact that our laboratories will be mobile and provide services to the public in their homes without having to travel physically to hospitals unlike most medical laboratories and hospitals in the country. We will also give feedback of blood samples there and then, people do not have to wait for blood samples for longer periods. This will give people the chance and space to treat their health conditions accordingly with ease and quickness in the long run saving the public a huge number of deaths and infections disease spreading.
The core technology that defines our solution is the mobile vehicles in form of laboratories that have the ability to move from place to place to provide health services to the public unlike any normal laboratory existing in the country. In most African countries, you can imagine we have just a few mobile ambulances that anyone can call for immediate help and first aid, our solution will make the availability of such services easy for the public and I believe so many lives will be saved for that matter.
This technology works because it is easily availed and it is possible to make. For example ambulances, ambulances are like quick medical clinics that provide immediate help to a patient who is in serious condition before they are taken to hospital. Just like ambulances, our mobile laboratories will move to different homes as per need to take blood samples of suspected patients especially of corona virus and give their families guidelines on how to take care of the matter accordingly thus reducing the spread of the disease because of reduced contact with other people and saving of lives due to the provided immediate health care given.

My solution will greatly have an impact on the problem by reducing the spread of infections and diseases in a way of reducing contacts of person to person during and after pandemics, thus reducing the number of infections and death of people. If a sick person suspected to have corona virus for example was taken to hospital for treatment, the line of people that person came into contact with while going to hospitals will probably also get the infection. The fact that this solution goes to a home of an infected person to collect blood samples and check them and give back results for that sick person gives everyone in that household assurance of the situation at hand and therefore will be treated and advised accordingly unlike if that person had gone to the hospital. The mobile laboratories stop the spread of infections to other people.
Also, if a normal person asks for their blood samples to be taken to know the status of their health without moving from home, if in case they were positive they would know how to protect other people by following guidelines given to them by the laboratory health workers

Currently, my solution serves 40million people and that is 80% of the population in Tanzania. In one year, we hope to serve 60 million people which is all the population in Tanzania. Within 5 years we hope to serve over 200 million people which includes Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi and Rwanda
Our goal within the next year is to establish a system of mobile laboratories and ambulances in all parts of Tanzania.
Currently, we do not have enough capital to set up our solution. Our solution is a new one and therefore it becomes difficult to penetrate the market since people are used to physically going to hospitals dispensaries clinics to get their blood checked and get medical attention.
We plan on overcoming the barrier of capital and funding by applying for various grant opportunities available for the health system and department.
We also plan on overcoming the market entry barriers by intensively marketing our solution and convincing the public of its many advantages.

I am applying to solve because of the world issue at hand which is corona virus. It pains me to see that here in Tanzania people are increasingly spreading and contracting the virus because they do not have access to way of finding out and checking if they have the virus or not, so in the end people are loosing lives, and here in Africa we have just a few ventilator machines that can’t cater for all the serious cases. I want to change that by letting people know the status of their health so that they can act accordingly. I do not have funds to start my solution and that is why I am applying to solve.

- Funding and revenue model
Solve is only able to find 10,000 dollars, I will need partners that will be able to fund me with laboratory equipment, and vehicles that I might not be able to purchase. I will also need partners that can provide funding to the solution for further expansion.
I would like to partner with solve members as well as Toyota, so that they can provide me with vehicles , vans to be specific for the mobile laboratories. Solve members can also give me advise on how to stabilize the solution for a long time.
I am qualified for The Elevate Prize for Health security because our solution is putting our healthy workers safety at risk by trying to reduce spread of the corona virus and giving first aid to suspected patients at their homes through our mobile laboratories thus saving lives.
I am qualified for The Peoples Prize f because our solution is trying to stop the spread of the corona virus or any other future pandemic by trying to reduce spread of the corona virus and giving first aid to suspected patients at their homes through our mobile laboratories by reducing body contact and fluid contact thus saving lives.
