Internet of Impact
We have built an Internet of Impact. This is critical public information infrastructure that can be used for sensing and responding to public health threats and their associated social, environmental and economic impacts. In biomimetic terms this functions as a global digital immune system for humanity.
Using the ixo web or mobile applications, any user can launch a cyber-cell. This creates a highly networked cybernetic coordination mechanism for connecting people through a web of trust to achieve a shared mission, with digital super-powers.
Users configure their projects and have access to template libraries from recognised authorities and proven community projects. Outcomes-based funding can be raised and programmed with incentives, alpha-bonds, to achieve desired future-states.
A growing marketplace of intelligent oracle services will assist projects to implement Precision Health interventions, with claims proofing, prediction, personalisation, risk prevention and automated prescription. Data is sovereign and sharable through the data-assets marketplace.
Legacy Internets lack mechanisms for faithfully recording, observing, persisting and incentivising changes in the state of the world, especially over extended periods of time.
We have witnessed this with the Covid pandemic. Silos of data, together with data governance and privacy restrictions, have prevented information access, comparability, verifiability and local use. This has fuelled the spread of misinformation and stood in the way of sharing intelligence.
The consequence has been systematic lack of targeted, precise, localised responses. High-level, poorly-informed, blunt-instrument public health policies have resulted in unnecessary costs to society.
As the social and economic consequences of the pandemic grow, we see what is happening in our local communities and news reports, but do not have the necessary information or tools to mount effectively coordinated, intelligent and incentivised local responses.
Our knowledge and digital tools for addressing these challenges exists. But they have not been well-formed into a coherent adaptive system that can quickly form and evolve solutions, with inputs from all stakeholders.
Web 2.0 demonstrated what is possible when we build on open protocols and shared digital infrastructure. But we now understand the limitations of the legacy web and have demonstrated what is possible with next-generation stateful graph-based Internets.
The Internet of Impact implements a blockchain-based data graph that is stateful, verifiable, semantically addressable & universally navigable. This encodes agents, transactions & mechanisms as nodes that produce state transitions through their activities. Edges between these nodes give us intelligence about attribution and enable us to reward contributions towards desirable future states.
We have developed open protocols for this Internet of Impact, based on new web (W3C) standards for digital identity, verifiable claims and linked-data. These enable changes in the state of the world to be captured in a high-definition data format which is verifiable with cryptographic proofs. Data assets are valuable and can be tokenised for use in programmable funding applications. Our decentralised financing innovation is alpha-bonds, which has been engineered using crypto-economic mechanisms with formal mathematical proofs and computer-aided design simulations.
Distributed networks forming the backbone of this internet are implemented with the ixo blockchain SDK. In the near future this will connect a network of networks using the Inter-blockchain Communication Protocol. The Sustainability Hub is the first carbon-neutral global public network.
We provide open-source web, mobile and datastore components for organisations to build their own relayers portals and applications.
The system is live and now deploying globally.
All forms of organisations that are investing, doing work or providing other value-adding services relevant to any sustainability use-case need to have better information systems and must become more connected into a web of trust for sharing data, intelligence and resources.
Our first use-cases have been in Early Childhood Development and Primary Education. We have worked with organisations such as UNICEF Innovation and with local solution-providers in South Africa, India and Hong Kong.
We provide an industry-leading solution platform for managing and reporting on results. This is implemented with local stakeholders who establish relayer nodes and adapt the software to their needs. A great example is the Hong Kong Impact Data Consortium, which is being funded by the Hong Kong government Social Innovation and Enterprise Fund to transition hundreds of social purpose organisations onto the network. This will help even the smallest social enterprise to be able to prove their impacts and improve their interventions.
We are working with UBS Optimus foundation to implement highly scalable outcomes-based financing for primary education across India, using adaptable alpha-bonds. This includes local technology solution providers and implementing organisations, including the Learning X-Prize finalist Chimple.
Our proof of success will be on the blockchain!
Our solution originated in public health systems responses to HIV, TB, Maternal and Child Health, and access to medicines.
Over decade of R&D has produced lower-level internet and data protocols, on which any sustainable development application can be built. We pioneered the adoption of new standards for data privacy and data sovereignty, which are critical for health information technologies.
This configurable software stack is now highly suited for building applications relevant to health security and pandemic responses which must be implemented locally and rapidly replicated globally.
We can quickly demonstrate live applications for any use-case in this context.
