CoVive by Medicus
With CoVive, we aim to create the first holistic application to serve users and communities adapt to and live with the changes brought about by COVID-19. This easy to use, multipurpose app, will provide users with a self assessment of the possibility of having contracted the SARS-CoV-2 as well as a daily symptom monitoring tool. Clear explanations of medical parameters such as lab test results and COVID-19 curated content will keep users informed and empower them to manage their circumstances. We aim to service healthcare providers through a remote monitoring interface connected to healthcare providers that aims to reduce consultation time and the number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients. This feature will support doctors with keeping up to date with their patients' disease progression in real time and be alerted when needed. CoVive is currently available for free in 5 languages.
SARS-CoV-2, the agent responsible for COVID-19 infection, is a new respiratory virus rapidly spreading around the world. The rapid spread of this virus is currently threatening to overwhelm the healthcare system of most countries as this disease has a high mortality rate in vulnerable populations.
The most effective strategies to limit this spread include adherence to precautionary measures and compliance with official regulations. As such, awareness of one’s risk of having contracted the disease and the understanding of the precautions to adopt are of the utmost importance.
However, estimating a person’s risk of having contracted the virus is complex as it involves assessing both symptoms and possible exposure to SARS-CoV-2.
Medicus is building a digital health solution called CoVive to:
Reduce the burden on support hotlines by helping people evaluate their risk of having been infected;
Reduce uncertainty by informing people of up-to-date measures to protect themselves and their community;
Raise awareness by providing resources that guide healthy and safe behavior;
Help monitoring patients to detect increased risks before and after hospitalization;
Promote research by providing research data in real-time.
CoVive is a modular solution and can be used as a whole or integrated into any existing solution - either fully or in parts. It allows delivery through any format or medium including app, web, e-mail, SMS or even Print.
Covive encompasses a risk stratification questionnaire to triage patients that need to get tested for SARS-CoV-2. The questionnaire assesses a patient’s risk profile including symptoms, recent travels, job and social life.
As part of our logistical support, CoVive connects at-risk or positive users with local health care professionals through different platforms such as telemedicine, phone calls, or consultations.
Once the SARS-CoV-2 related test is performed, the results can be added to the app, and are then interpreted, and personalized insights are provided based on additional risk factors such as age and medical history, according to recommendations by local authorities.
For patients that tested positively on the SARS-CoV-2 test, Covive connects to wearables to track relevant parameters (CoVive provides a platform that allows the user to monitor his vitals) such as heart rate and temperature as well as his symptoms. This way Covive monitors high-risk patients to enable early detection of risk reclassification and development of potential complications.
The solution is catered to all citizens around the globe, but it will be particularly helpful to people in lower income brackets of society in poorer countries, as they must rely on the already overwhelmed public health systems. By using the solution, people will be able to better understand their probability of having contracted SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 without reaching out to emergency rooms or using hotlines, which is paramount in these times of uncertainty and raised anxiety.
To each new country that we plan to launch CoVive, the app undergoes a localisation effort, not only to translate into local language, but also to be able to adjust the content and guidelines to that specific market. We conduct interviews with doctors working in COVID19 task forces locally to provide additional material and catered content.
The need for a solution that can quickly and cheaply assess the likelihood of COVID19 contraction is paramount in our current scenario of test shortages in most countries around the globe. Based on WHO, CDC, and ECDC guidelines, we are able to assess if patients are likely to have contracted the virus and monitor the development of their symptoms, contributing to alleviating the pressure in health systems worldwide, while gathering data for research and analytics by governments and healthcare stakeholders, providing a better picture of the situation, as it takes into account non-tested patients.

- A new technology
We have combined a plethora of different tools offered by different apps related to COVID-19 into one single place, charging the data analytics module capabilities and providing policy makers with more accurate data and a better understanding of the bigger picture of the virus evolution in their countries. It's the first solution to receive the CE mark accreditation related to COVID-19.

The CoVive app is offered completely for free to all citizens and healthcare stakeholders in its current basic version, which is already available at the Apple Store and has been submitted to the Google Play Store (pending approval). Currently, it is available in German, English, French, Chinese, Arabic, Greek and Portuguese, and additional languages might be added depending on partners’ demands in different countries. Due to current negotiations with countries in Latin America and Asia, the localisation of CoVive into Spanish and other languages is being considered. The localisation costs in terms of translations, depends on the language, as some require also design adaptations due to special characters, and will be borne by the local partner.
The full version encompass a full-fledged integration of CoVive into a partner’s existing solutions, priced according to the number of features to be integrated, the complexity of the required integration (APIs availability and amount of APIs), and ad hoc customisations required by potential partners. Therefore, the pricing model for each potential client needs to be discussed on a case by case scenario, due to the different complexities of their existing solutions. These costs will be borne by the partner being integrated, and the resources will be used towards helping cover our personnel costs for the multiple teams involved in this project.
