The Problem: 2.3 million Overseas Filipino Workers has no access to Philippine made Local medicine when they are outside of the country.
The Solution:
Providing a Philippine local medicine marketplace for overseas filipino workers wherein they can buy Meds and therapeutics.
How does it work?
You may be able to buy medicine online through your doctor prescription from verified drug store then medfly will send the medicine safely to you the country you temporarily stay.
For Therapeutics, You can only buy it when you have a verified administering nurse or doctor in the country you staying you'll be able to do this in medfly app.
The Problem:
Filipinos travel around the world to work and mostly they will stay for 6 months to 5 years in that country they work for. Now, What is the problem they are facing in the medicine industry?
1. Overseas Filipino workers cannot access the local medicine they have from the philippines.
2. Local Philippine Doctors has no capability to send the medicine for their OFW (Overseas Filipino Workes) patient.
3. Filipinos cannot access tested, trusted and locally philippine made Cocktail of anti-inflammatory therapeutics to recover fast from a deadly virus.
Why Overseas Filipino workers?
2.3 Million Filipinos working around the world
$4.6 Billion total sent remittance for 6 months around April-September 2018
How Overseas Filipino Workers get philippine local medicine?
- Ask relatives to send a OTC medicine through a special courier
- Before travel they packed some local OTC medicine to bring with them
- International call with their doctors to ask if they may send the medicine
The Solution:
medfly is a application that enables you to buy medicine and tested therapeutics
Target Population:
2.3 Million Overseas Filipino Workers working around the world
The Need:
They are adults who been living in the philippine setting and have been using locally philippine made medicine, The time they travel outside of the country the access to their local medicine stops there.
In what way the solution impact lives?
1. Access to cheaper medicines from their country that they trusted and been using.
2. Therapeutics vs. Vaccine
a. For 1 kind of Therapeutics can work for many viral treatments
b. Vaccine can work for single purpose for one viral protection
So, the cost would be more cheaper for therapeutics than vaccine. But vaccine is also a key to protect us my main point for therapeutics in time of pandemics that we don't have any vaccine available for the virus.
The Alignment:
Pandemic makes our world stops but delivery will still be available. So, my idea of access to medicine they need for where they are may now be delivered from the philippines. Specially the access to anti viral therapeutics for snake bites, dengue, malaria, hiv, chikungunya and in the future for covid-19.
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea
- A new application of an existing technology
Uniqueness:
An easy way to buy local medicines from the philippines with safer travel through trusted philippine pharmacy or from doctors.
1. Send medicine to a filipino worker to Places like USA, Asia, Canada, Ships port, Airports, or other places where filipino is overseas.
2. The access to medicines you really love, tested and trusted with no or very minimal side effects.
3. The access to anti-viral therapeutics/cocktail from community tested and trusted fabunan medical group. https://patents.google.com/pat...
a. Why Fabunan anti-viral therapeutics? 1 part key ingredient of fabunan anti-viral cocktail is dexamethasone which is now the scientific community says a breakthrough for covid-19 patients.
The concept will rely on web and open technologies by that the creation of a mobile first app that would work on mobile and web. For the integrity of logistics it will require the use of blockchain technology , We may try hyperledger technologies for exploration.
Web technologies and databases worked for Amazon, Aliexpress, Fedex, Walmart, and many more.
- Blockchain
- Software and Mobile Applications
This is a concept idea with one person that has experienced getting his grandmother medicine from her doctor in the philippines. My assumption is that most filipino workers in overseas has the same problem.
The theory of change:
1. To have a healthier filipino workers overseas.
2. If they are healthy they can provide the needs of their family in the philippines.
3. They will not face higher cost of medical situation overseas in time of pandemic and still continue to work and not repatriated.

I'm a product manager and UX designer. I'm learning web development in the moment to make this concept a reality. Here is my portfolio https:commitdot.github.io
None.
Subscription model with flexible fees
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
First is to sell the concept to advocacy group for filipino overseas from then sell services and ask grants or seed funding private or public.
There is a need but barriers should be overcome through right connection and where to start.
- Funding and revenue model
- Board members or advisors
- Legal or regulatory matters
The concept is around medicine which would need legal matters. This will explore how to do business clearly and safely. With the advisors and funding will be a force to balance how to do the concept and where to start.
No organization or name at this time. Maybe to explore philippine medicine commerce and medical doctors.
With access to therapeutics in time of pandemics, Overseas filipino worker would benefit because they will stay and not repatriated, still continue to work because they can manage to get well through the access of tested therapeutics.
If selected for elevate prize. The way to use the prize money is to fail fast and rethink. Accessing open technologies will make cost down and enable the the service to be develop the product quickly.
The management of financials should be properly well documented and only the needs to be purchased. We will take a bootstrap approach and MVP.
To form a connection to relevant advocacy organization and grow from there. This fund will greatly use for that community connection approach.
As part of global pandemic, as the project may grow. I assume the world needs it.
