I am solving the problem of queues upon arrival at hospitals using a non-linear technology, but a method that manages to perform the intelligent screening necessary for the mission of separating critically ill patients from non-critically ill patients.
My solution can be accomplished with several different hardware and software configurations. One of them, for example, is the use of a raspberry board connected to a touchscreen and also connected to a thermal camera, an oxygen sensor and a blood pressure sensor. In that case the raspberry would be connected to a database on the internet. A set of three motors, two servos and a stepper motor perform the process of cleaning the screen after use.
My solution serves all patients who arrive at a health care facility or it could also be placed in public places to allow for even more early screening for possible problems. All data will be protected by privacy law and patients' identity would be preserved.
In the event of a pandemic, the health system is strongly impacted by the high flow of patients arriving at the same time. Both the physical capacity of the service location and health professionals are overwhelmed at various stages of the process. Separating who is serious from who is not will help a lot in the organization, accuracy and speed of the service process. Collaterally, this kiosk network will be able to quickly collect data related to the current epidemic / pandemic, allowing epidemiologists, statisticians and mathematicians to have consistent data to interpret what is happening.
