Towards a Safer Reopening of the economy
COVID-19 has changed how the world views hygiene and safety. People need access to safe and clean places without compromising their health.
Salametna.com is a website that will help people make conscious decisions on where to go. It will encourage people to be active citizens and review the places based on infection control measures followed. Those measures are based on international infection control standards and are continuously updated according to governments recommendations.
The website will feature a dashboard page that analyzes citizens’ behavior, public places compliance and viability of regulations. The dashboard will provide data that’s beneficial for individuals, research institutes and governments.
Globally, this model is scalable and will empower people all over the world to monitor the services they're receiving, act responsibly following approved standards, and provide data that's beneficial for governments and research institutes for further analysis.
The whole world in affected with COVID-19 and the aftermath. It is causing panic and uncertainty. Limited access to information, fear to compromise safety and health by ignoring hygiene standards and panic and lost feeling of control are important results of the current crisis of COVID-19. The lack of awareness of infection control standards can compromise the health and safety of millions of people who need to access public spaces to fulfill essential needs (ex: grocery stores, banks..etc). This is combined with the lack of accountability in public spaces and with the need of re-opening the economy, it can cause a huge increase in the infection rate of the virus. Salametna.com is responding to these issues by creating an awareness platform that will reduce the infection rate of the virus and help ease the strain on the healthcare systems during this crisis.
Salametna.com shows the ratings of public places based on their safety and hygiene measures. Anyone has access on the rating tool that is featured on the website and social media. The data is received, filtered and aggregated to be published on the website. The upcoming expansion of the portal is to build an AI and machine learning comprehensive dashboard accessible by subscribers where they can find detailed reports and analysis of the behavior of the people and the public places. This data can be filtered by multiple factors including, cities, age groups and socioeconomic backgrounds.
The solution revolves around:
Awareness and access to information: Sharing information on the safety and hygiene standards followed by public spaces.
Social accountability: Encouraging people to reviews and rate the places they go to share their valuable knowledge and experience with others. This incurs accountability in service providers, as they are being monitored by their customers, and turn members of the community from affected people of circumstances to active citizens
Data driven decision making: The data on the website will be analyzed using AI to help decision makers make viable regulations
Salametna.com is built with reactJs and wordpress API.
Salametna.com currently is serving around 4k visitors in Egypt. Those people depend on the website for data on the safety and hygiene standards of public places in their areas. Currently, the website has a directory of 110 reviewed public places in 5 different cities in Egypt and the number increases daily. Salametna.com is based on community assessments and encouraging social accountability. That is a model that is followed in a lot of projects in Shamseya since 2011. We believe that people are experts in their own matter, but they do not always have the right tools to exercise their knowledge and expertise. Salametna.com responds to this need and provides people with these tools and platforms. The model ensures that people's voices are heard and given power to. The solution is based on their reviews and comments on the services they receive and get exposed to daily. Salametna.com visitors, by following infection control measures and staying safe, are impacting thousands of people. Everyone should play a role in infection control and Salametna.com is offering the knowledge and the accountability to fulfill safety and hygiene standards. Salametna.com aims to influence decision makers to make better, data-driven and more viable regulations.
We believe salametna.com is a practical solution in a time of a pandemic and after. The idea of hygiene and safety had changed once and for all. The project is a preventive tool, it helps set and communicate infection control measures so people can know their rights and take decisions in favor of their safety. It's a corrective tool that will help and hold public places accountable to protect their visitors. Most importantly, it's a measurement tool on the viability of regulations set by governments. This way, Salametna.com ensures health security and aims to ease the strain on healthcare systems.

- A new business model or process
Everyone is eager to contribute to solve challenges caused by COVID-19. Along with medical innovations, other entrepreneurs are creating new tools and solutions that will help people during and post the virus. Salametna.com tackles a wide aspect, besides sharing knowledge with people on infection control standards of public places, it serves as a portal for research and information that’s beneficial for any citizen. It encourages people to play an active role in solving those novel challenges and help limit the spread of the virus. By visiting a public place, a person can stay safe use an an opportunity of fixing the problem rather than being a part of it. It allows public places to take a new approach on marketing, by offering partnership, where they allow their visitors to review the place on Salametna.com but to also use the platform to show the extra infection control measure they are taking. There are no competitors that offer ratings and reviews based on set standards, however, there are multiple platforms on social media ex: facebook pages. where people engage in conversations about the safety and cleanliness of places. Salametna.com is offering that in a more systematic way adding the filtering by area and set standards to the process. Unlike seeking reviews on social media, on Salametna.com, anyone can search the type of services they want and filter by areas and choose the place they feel the safest to go to instead of checking the infection control measures of a specific place.
Salametna is a website built with ReactJS and wordpress API. The ratings of places is through a customized survey tool, Kobo toolbox. The link of the reviewing survey is available of the website as well as circulated on social media at the moment. The website is designed to be minimalist and clear for simple non tech-savvy users. The user can choose the city, area and the type of service he wants in the search engine and the data is filtered accordingly, showing him the public places, details on their location, opening hours and the safety and infection control measures followed in this place. The user can submit a review on any public space he visits and the data is aggregated and published on the website. The next milestone is going to focus on using technologies like machine learning and AI to build an interactive dashboard that analyzes citizens behavior and public spaces compliance to standards, and viability of regulations. This portal will be of extreme importance in the coming period as it will direct decision makers to more applicable and effective regulations and well as serve as a huge data analysis platform to researchers and data-driven institutions.

In a small amount of time, we've had an average user visits of around 4k/month. By educating those people about their rights and directing them to safer places that consider infection control measures, these people are ensuring their own safety as well as the safety of their families and those around them.
Salametna.com follows the community assessments model like eghospitals.com, a project by Shamseya that has been active since 2016. eghospitals.com is visited regularly by around 8k visitors a month. Those people depend on it to choose the healthcare facility that will fulfill their needs. This approach normalizes social accountability relating to infection control. It empowers people by giving them the platform to monitor and assess as well as service providers know how to enhance and use it in their benefit.
