COVID-19 RURAL CAMPAIGN AND TESTING

In this project we want to prefer entire the spread of COVID-19 among the rural set up in Siaya County in Kenya.

We propose to create awareness within the rural areas to give right information on how to prevent the pandemic and take care of the victims, allow for testing and reach the locals with IECs developed in local dialects.

This solution will prepare the community and spell the fears that come with the pandemic,address the myths and correct the misinformation going around in social media. It will avail safety packs and testing to the hard to reach rural areas to the general public especially the elderly  who are more prone to suffer more due to low immunity. In the rural set up it will improve on the safety and hygiene as a sustainable initiative for prevention the pandemic and other infections.

In Kenya today we have  reported over 50 cases and the fear of getting to over 1000 with more deaths and more in quarantine is worrying.

With the low class and  inadequate health systems to address the pandemic, Kenya is still at the of recording worse cases and more deaths if the pandemic is not controlled in good time and the exercise e,tended to the rural set ups where the healthcare providers and facilities are inadequate.

Globally COVID-19 is a threat and there is no enough testing and comprehensive clinical finding on the cure and vaccine. Low income countries like Kenya face it with fear and anxiety of the unknown about the pandemic.

Basically knowledge is power,awareness and making the community have what it takes in terms of safety,prevention and testing is all we need at the basic. Reaching out the hard to reach rural areas is a good present emotion measure to clear the myth that this pandemic is for specific people.

We are targeting the general community in the rural Siaya county and reaching them with right information on how to prevent the pandemic and take care of the members who present with the symptoms. We target men,women,youths and children but with special interest to( senior citizens) more vulnerable elderly persons in the age brackets 60 years and above.

COVID-19 is public health problem to the general public,awareness,testing and provision of safety prevention packs is a solution that is required to all and a basic need that every government should provide to her citizens. It is therefore a chain of related activities  and target to solve the challenge within the rural set up

This is a unique one as it targets awareness and information at the community level. As most still wait for the government to declare and allocate a budget in the assemblies @Lengo health we have started looking for our own solutions
