Congolese Initiative (ICPEDH)
The DRC in general and South Kivu in particular are in the serious case, the questions are numerous which have not been answered until now. Rwanda, a country neighboring the city of Bukavu, has been affected. This creates concerns that Bukavu will be infected further. Bukavu being the most important commercial, industrial, tourist, religious and intellectual city of the Province, affected by this pandemic, 3 confirmed cases and other cases are in isolation, there are 90% that all the territories of South Kivu are contaminated. The communities are leaving in all the territories to do their business in the city and to return to their territories, this is a big problem. This project aims to support communities in the fight against the spread of COVID-19; distribute handwashes, anti-bacterial products and disinfectants; scarf, to communities and community leaders to fight the spread of COVID-19 in the South Kivu in DRC.

It is in this context that the need was felt to develop this project to contribute to the fight against the spread, it is expected to reach at least 35,500 beneficiaries by raising awareness and strengthening their capacity on preventive measures by COVID- 19; distribute at least 150 hand washes, 50 boxes of anti-bacterial and disinfectant products; More than 50,000 mufflers to communities and community leaders to fight the spread of COVID-19 in the province of South Kivu in DR. Congo

The implementation of this project will raise community awareness of the causes, consequences and the preventive measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. The expected effects will be perpetuated thanks to the maintenance of strong awareness and awareness within the communities targeted by this project through the routine activities to be carried out by the focal points (Local Committees). Tools for raising awareness and fighting the spread of the pandemic will be produced, popularized and distributed; those of them will go beyond the project site the more they are distributed, their uses will continue to produce effects, even in the medium and long term. The focal points constitute a solid mechanism for the appropriation and sustainability of activities. ICPEDH:
- Set up and coordinate project activities in the South Kivu territories;
- Monitor the activities of the focal points for the continuity and appropriation of awareness-raising on the fight against the spread of COVID-19 monthly, then sanction this follow-up with monthly pooling sessions and production of follow-up reports to be submitted to SOLVE 2020 Global Health Security & Pandemics Challenge (support partner for project activities); and Carry out mid-term evaluations to get around the difficulties that have arisen
This project will be executed by ICPEDH. It will work in close collaboration with the Provincial Health Division of South Kivu and its beneficiaries. The actions that will be shared with these partners will be carried out through periodic information and capacity-building meetings, updating of beneficiary mapping, as well as exchanges of experience on combating the spread. The beneficiaries grouped into local committees for the popularization of preventive methods in order to combat the spread. Supported beneficiaries will be supported in capacity building activities, coaching, with a view to contributing to health promotion and preserving life for all.

Ø The local communities of Bukavu and South Kivu in general put into practice preventive hygiene measures to combat the spread of COVID-19; and 80% of the target population of the informed project and their health conditions change to 98% in the city of Bukavu and in South Kivu in DR. Congo by 2020

This project supported the popularization of preventive methods to control the spread of COVID-19 in the province of South Kivu in DR. Congo , wants to accompany at least 35 500 people for one year and we estimate reach more than 250 500 for s five years.

To get around these difficulties, the first way is to support us financially ; and request authorization from the state authorities, as is the case with the implementation of the methods to control the spread of COVID-19.

This project will be executed by an ICPEDH technical team with the financier. The actions that will be shared with this team will be carried out through information meetings and capacity building, updating of the beneficiary mapping, as well as exchanges of experiences. This team has good experience in the design, management and monitoring of environmental and social projects, good capacity for execution and the conduct of capacity building sessions for local communities;
Currently we are collaborating with PIFEVA (Pillar to vulnerable women active in DR. Congo) and AFC-RDC (Women's Action for Change). We work together when we have common actions to exercise together.
