MEDAIKEY
MEDAIKEY addresses the problem of misdiagnosis as cited in the National Academy of Medicine Misdiagnosis Study (2015) which identified the primary causes as lack of accurate, complete and coherent medical information being available to clinicians for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
MEDAIKEY is a proven protocol for early detection and warning of health problems, recovery and maintenance. It is designed used by RNs to analyze health information through the scientific lenses of Conventional, Functional and Integrative Medicine, Systems Biology and the Human Microbiome. Outputs deliver the most current and actionable health information available, in real-time, to clinicians and other health professionals. Our goal is to migrate the solution into an AI enabled portable digital health platform.
Scaling globally would provide early detection of user's changing health symptom trends which in turn allows an AI enabled MEDAIKEY to push early intervention actions to affected users. Additionally, individual health literacy would increase exponentially.
The problem(s): Misdiagnosis, Medical Error and Medication Conflict.
The Scale and impact in the US alone:
The National Academy of Medicine Misdiagnosis Study (2015) estimated 12M misdiagnosis in the US during the study period.
In 2016, Adverse Effects of Medical Care are estimated to have caused 108,780 deaths. A Johns Hopkins study puts the numbers from 250,00 annually to perhaps as high as 440,000.
In 2018 34.1% of malpractice actions, costing more than $4B, were brought on by medical error.
Clinician burnout, including moral burden and cognitive overload, has created a $4.6B industry problem.
Factors contributing to the problem related to our solution?
NAM Misdiagnosis Study identified the primary causes as lack of accurate, complete and coherent medical information being available to clinicians for accurate diagnosis and treatment.
By applying AI technologies to the proven MEDAIKEY protocol, all of the above can be addressed upfront on a real-time individual basis thus positively affecting the larger community's health. An AI enabled MEDAIKEY provides each user with their own digital clinical advocate and provides clinicians the support and opportunity to improve outcomes with better information, and eliminates the commonly accepted “generation” gap in “bench to bedside” implementation of new scientific discovery.
MEDaiKEY is 3 major components building upon one another: Nightingale, Marcus and RoadMap.
Nightingale - a powerful information collection, analysis, and organizational tool, combines retrospective health information with real-time data from the individual and their digital universe. Once filtered through the sciences of Conventional, Functional and Integrative Medicine, Systems Biology and the Human Microbiome these evidenced-based outputs are provided:
- Daily Vitals/Symptoms tracking/trending
- Comprehensive Patient Health Biography
- Critical Clinical Events/Prioritized Medical History Chronology
- Lab Trends showing metabolic progression
- Medication/Supplements Conflicts Reconciliation
An AI enabled Nightingale will allow families a secure pathway to share genetically relevant health information between themselves and through family generations.
In Marcus, Nightingale's information is analyzed and delivered to clinicians with evidence-based observations and proactive alerts of potential diagnostic and therapeutic approaches based on the most current science. Marcus creates RoadMap, which supports patient's by researching and providing education and lifestyle suggestions, based on the therapeutic plan, guiding patients and their care teams along the path to maintaining and/or regaining health.
The MEDAIKEY protocol enhances longitudinal health data and clarifies the clinicians view of the most current treatment options.
Currently manual, next is to migrate to an AI enabled MEDAIKEY to improve health with speed at scale.
The target population we are working to directly and meaningful improve outcomes for are individuals dealing with 1 or more chronic health conditions.
Who are they - 65% of individuals over the age of 65 are managing 4 or more chronic health conditions. In the US 10,000 people are turning 65 years old everyday and that is projected to continue until at least 2030.
Understanding their needs and engagement - We are associated with a nationwide network of RNs who have trained in the MEDAIKEY protocol and are working with high-risk, chronically ill individuals on a daily basis. So, we are never out of touch with this population's needs.
How the Solution addresses their needs - Not all individuals in the high-risk, chronically ill population can afford to hire an RN Patient Advocate but all have need education and support to at least advocate for themselves. Many patients are coordinating different specialist for each condition. These specialist are all working in an information cocoon which seldom includes what the patient's other specialist see and recommend. MEDAIKEY addresses this by creating a focal point for all of the patient's health data and creates concise, all inclusive information outputs for clinicians.
Communities need to engage citizens, digitally, in personal health management. A digital MEDAIKEY will prove invaluable in early detection and proactive interventions. Already proven in practice for improving and managing outcomes in high-risk, chronically ill individuals, successfully migrating the MEDAIKEY protocol to a mobile digital health platform will allow electronic distribution to individuals across entire communities regardless of their health status. With minimum daily engagement individuals can track simple things like changes in body functions (Temp, BP, etc.). Connected families can confidentially share genetically relevant health information. Key to community success - real-time early detection and calls to intervention.
