Aday Technologies, Inc.
- Pre-Seed
Aday is a new model to schedule, hire, and train hourly employees. Aday is a 'Total Talent Management' platform, a burgeoning staffing intermediary type.
Aday is a Total Talent Management (TTM) platform built with our proprietary adaptation of a Preferential Bidding System (PBS) model utilized by every major airline to automatically schedule employees.
Understandably, retail and food services companies require employee-scheduling flexibility and just-in-time labor as their highly-dynamic labor requirements are the derived demand for the product or service they offer (i.e. the driver of customer traffic) and profit margins are razor-thin. Unfortunately, these employer-imposed schedule practices pass the inherent instability of customer traffic onto workers, leading to volatile hours and fluctuating income that wreaks havoc on employee’s lives. Further, these scheduling practices result in self-sabotage of employers as absenteeism and turnover increase.
The proposal will solve the problem because we've pitched it to customers and they've excited to pilot our solution. In total, I conducted 42 semi-structured interviews with hourly workers and management.
The Aday platform combats skill-based technological change by developing a workforce that demonstrates greater productivity than an automated replacement and proving it to those who allocate firm resources. Through evidence-based ROI metrics, the platform encourages employers to upload training videos that teach general skills and ramps employees to full productivity as quickly as possible.
Total number of certified skills on the platform - 10,000 certified skills on the platform by end of year 2017
Hours spent on training for employees - 10,000 shifts with job shadowing completed on the platform
Hours spent working on the platform - 10% increase in income for users on the platform

TTM platforms for hourly employees are currently non-existent and enable a new model for businesses to train, hire, manage and schedule both internal, external, and non-human employees. We automate scheduling with a focus on creating stable, and predictable schedules.
Similar to traditional preference-based automated scheduling systems, Aday computes more than two dozens scheduling preferences and creates predictable, stable, yet flexible work schedules. Unlike traditional PBS platforms, the Aday platform automates an employee's work schedules across multiple workplaces.
The solution is accessible via a mobile application. However, it is completely operational without a mobile interface. Managers on the platform use our website or mobile application. For users who access applications via WiFi, will appreciate that the application is free and can also be accessed for free with no carrier costs. For user who cannot afford a smart phone, these users can interact with the application using only text messages.

We plan to sustain and grow ourselves organically and with institutional capital.
The success of the platform partially depends on building a network to have enough supply of training and work opportunities. Fortunately, our first clients are located near one another. We hope to expand from here. Another factor is the learning curve of using the solution. We hope that the benefits outweigh the cost of having to learn the platform in the eyes of the users.
