The Aroma Community Heath Care Programme

Over 4,000 girls in machakos county and over 40,000 countrywide  have become expectant with the covid situation in kenya since January also in the same number young women have lost employment and have lost hope.  

some causes of the above include 

1) Lack of knowledge and understanding 

2) Adults taking advantage over them 

3) Gender violence 

4) lack of means to support themselves and young families. 

5) Married to husbands who abuse drugs

This has created a problem in the community of girls dropping out from school , girls becoming commercial sex workers inorder to provide for their children , girls becoming mothers too early, some running away from families or even thinking of terminating the pregnancy leading to major complications ,others assulted by their husbands and girls who dont are not sure how their future will turn out . 

Empowering the girl child in realizing the potencial within , training in realization of reproductive health and financial/economic empowerment . 

Build capacity and peer groups to anable sharing of experiences and support one anothe in building strong families and nations . 

Guilding through stractured conselling activities and close follow up with our community workers to establish individualistic  support on enterprenural skills and personal support to future prosperity. 

Establish a savings and credit fund where the members can access funds to start as well as grow small businesses 

Set up group support dynamics and accountability structures to support community group projects for economic sustainability

Child care programmes for immunization , feeding , heath and general care in the community .

Challenge : social,health and economic impact on girls and young mothers caused by covid-19

need for a sacco software to monitor levels of funding for all members and repayments as well as saving model . currently using excell with just the few members i am supporting . for grwth we need to procure a system . 

used by all the saccos in kenya and in the financial sector . 

The women are the engine of the family and the nation at large and empowering young women bring stability and maturity in the family and hence the nation productivity is covered. 

A wholistic appoach of the social, economic and heath approach of a woman takes care of the key factors affecting the woman and hence concentration in growing their livelyhood becomes the key factor in life . 

Targeting young women brings hope to the sciety and hence ability to provide brings stability and focus in the youg women and even when they grow old the effect will be a lond term . 

Training and supporting the initiatives as well as them on savings culture will build an approach for the women to support their children education and goes a long way in bulding an empowered community.

Goal in the year : to reach out to 300 girls , put them in groups , train them and establish them in income generating activities with proper support in health, social and economic areas. 

Goals in 5 years : have atleast 1500 recruited girls and young women in the programme and empowered economically , socially and health with established groups to suppot the girls and for resposible commitments .

If funded i will 

1) Recruit more qualified staff in areas of health , financial and social sectors as well asorient them . 

2) Reach out to the girls for recruitment 

3) Form the accountability groups and train the individuals and the group 

4) Train and evaluate viable small businesses and supprt the women in establishing and growing the same 

 5) Establishing the fund and establishing structures to manage the same

financial specialist  - works closely with the girls to tacle the economic aspect of the project 

micro finance officer - deals with financial advise, monitoring of the training clients 

The Aoma medical clinic l - we partner them to offer the pregnant mothers ante natal and post natal care to the ladies .

We provide Services to the girls in a wholistic approach and this bring value to the community 

financially - provide training , innovation support , financing and monitoring hence improves the living standard of the families . 

Socially- the families where our clients come from are poor families and hence the social burden of having the girls depend on them for provisition gives then preassure and lifting up that burden by teaching the girls to depend on themselves and establish businesses as well as guidance in life is a great gain ti the community . 

Spritually - We conduct spiritual support and biblical teachings on the girls hence building their foundation on the word of God .This makes the society of a better valued and with youth with better values . 

Financial sustainability 

1) The directors support 

The directors have a commitment too meet the current expenses since the vision of empowering th girl child has been in the hearts for a long time. The demand is more than the ability though but with more support from external parties it is possible to grow the project to touch more people in the society . 

2) Donations and grants - sharing the proposition with organizations who can support the same will increase the ability to reach out to more girls with focus of having 1500 famlies across the nation supported . 

3) Funding at a small fee - this will uild a kit to support expenses and grow the capital for supporting more businesses in future .
