Tech Future Jobs for south west Nigeria.

 People will create the jobs of the future, not simply train for them, and technology is already central. It will undoubtedly play a greater role in the years ahead. Jonathan Grudin

1. Multiple studies have documented that massive numbers of jobs are at risk as programmed devices – many of them smart, autonomous systems – continue their march into workplaces (https://www.pewresearch.org/internet/2017/05/03/the-future-of-jobs-and-jobs-training/). 

2. We are  equipping the current growing workforce and an emerging generation of marginalised sub saharan africans  with tech skills  that will ensure that individuals and communities  in our place can be employable and also create future jobs.

3. This helps achieve the United Nation's  SDG's to transform our world.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has further exposed the need for a completely new set of skills.

There are too many people struggling for few jobs in traditional industries like education, banking and agriculture. In May 2018, over 800,000 people applied for 3,200 jobs in the Nigerian Customs Service.

Existing industries simply aren’t growing fast enough to provide enough jobs for the growing youth population. The technology sector has become one of the highest-employing industries.The Nigerian technology industry has grown in leaps and bounds over the last ten years. In 2018, Nigerian technology companies raised over US$ 306 Million in funding.

A lot of tech companies have problems finding the right talent because applicants don’t have the required skill set or relevant experience working in the technology industry.The most sought after skills are technical skills at management levels. Other skills in demand are digital marketing, project management, design, sales, customer support and people operations.

The unique problem is that tech jobs are simply growing faster than they can be filled presenting a distinct skill gap. Software developers are in high demand as many companies struggle to fill engineering roles. Some highly skilled developers eventually work for two or more companies as a result. There is a dire need for more tech skilled workers period!

We are raising 'Techpreneurs' who will create startups to employ skilled tech personnel, we are also equipping potential applicants with skills and practical experiences to fill the 'in demand' tech jobs. This will be achieved by these portfolios:

1. Techie-educator: This is an education and training program, we created coding boot-camps, basic and advanced level courses and mentoring in Automation, robotics, algorithms, artificial intelligence (AI),natural language processing for secondary level, university undergraduates and graduates to guide young people and transition professionals in traditional industries into fulfilling tech careers.

2. Techie-innovator: In this portfolio, alumni are connected to tech companies for paid internships and mentoring to aid their learning and build the necessary experience to get full paid employment or to build their own startups.

3. Techie incubator: This portfolio provides workspaces with laptops,stable internet access and electricity for students and alumni. A large population of our young people are from very low income communities and do not have access to computers, the few who do have very poor electricity to power them and connecting to the internet is very expensive. The techie incubator provides an enabling environment for students to learn and for our graduates to build their own startups.
