Identifying Champions in Black Female

Most startup media platforms, conferences, incubators, accelerators and other venture programs lack diversity and cultural competency. Most diversity-focused groups and programs do not offer a pipeline to investment; rather they focus solely on networking and business remediation. Investors and firms are unable to support the early stage financing needs of black female due to high transaction costs and limited deal flow.

Our platform and programs advance women from aspiration to investment. In an effort to increase diversity and inclusion within the global innovation ecosystem, we elevate and empower tech-enabled or tech-based ventures from financial planning and forecasting toward financial success and idea conception to business implementation and towards investment.

We envision to provide awareness, promotion, support and resources for Black women led tech-based* and tech-enabled* financially sustainable startups throughout the U.S. and Black Diaspora.

Many black women entrepreneurs are facing a double bias due to both their race and gender. This in turn creates difficulties when it comes to obtaining funding, reaching out to potential partners and even networking.

Very often, women of color are often striving alone in industries and businesses dominated by men. As such, they are often talked down to, and have to constantly prove their worth, qualifications and drive.

Networking events attended by very few women of color, if any, can also deter their them from making the right connections. It’s precisely the lack of access to these networks, as well as not having the right tools and resources to navigate them, that can prevent perfectly viable businesses from surviving and thriving.

Women entrepreneurs get offered smaller loans across every product, from the same groups. Female entrepreneurs seeking venture capital do not seem to fare any better. Many research confirms that investors actually prefer entrepreneurial pitches by attractive men.

Another factor that slows growth: a lack of educational resources and mentors to help black women entrepreneurs ramp up their business knowledge

Umbrellasure will work with Black Women Enterpreneurs on the following solution areas. 

1. Umbrella will work on building the capacity of black entrepreneur, providing educational resources and mentorship to help black women entrepreneurs ramp up their business knowledge. We envision for a black women to feel for themselves as "Be yourself, and have confidence in who you are"

2. Black women looking for business investors should build confidence through a great team and business plan. Umbrellsure will work with key champions among black women and improve their business ethics and ultimately to become strong founders. If they have experts on their founding team that can execute the business well, investors will have confidence in their business and they make product-market fit.

3. Umbrellasure will help in building a network of female owned businesses and create enabling environment for black women to run their entrepreneurship initiatives. This will even help to get more female investors to support one another. 

4. Umbrellasure will help these black women in finding the safety nets and best insurance support which can secure their financial assets and as well as give them confidence to maintain financial sustainability. 

The solution is serving marginalized population especially targeting black women entrepreneurs inclusively  who are facing challenges in the way of their entrepreneurship jouney . They have wonderful ideas and initiatives but lack access toward the investment and venture capitalist due to their minority status, gender biased and lack of confidence. 

This solution will help them first of all to develop their capacity to learn basic business and entrepreneurial ethics, provide them the relevant knowledge resources, link them to the safety nets to insure safety for their investments and financial assets, connect them to the network of interested venture capitalist and firms especially female owned businesses and ultimately help them to run their business successfully.

Due to issues given above, the highest affected are Black Female Founder. Their is no full support for them to find the proper way to startup their initiative, find the relevant network to get connected and how they can secure and ensure safety to get financial sustainability. 

UmbrellSure is proposing to enable these black women to know the way, show the way and go the way toward business success and financial independence.

Our Solution is different and innovative. Umbrellasure platform is designed to increase exposure of black female founders and their ventures. Founders receive help with business creation and development via our programs, access to investors, insurance and safety of financial investments and more. We are intended to provide critical industry knowledge, mentorship, and business development tools to help fledgling startups succeed.

Umbrellsure is created by black people team who are also entrepreneurs with experience in the tech, finance and financial investments. We understand the cultural issues facing black women founders.

Our technology is in the form of a digital engagement platform, online knowledge base e-libraries and developing prototype app soon. 

We are planning to scale to using AI in the near future to maintain a larger scale of customers and beneficiaries much more efficiently. 

We are also planning to bring e-magazine through an app which will provide knowledge resources. This will spotlight black female entrepreneurs.

We will later focus on the IT solutions to assist in maintaining compliance at a much deeper and efficient level for all businesses involved in the moment!

All these technology will pave a digital platform for black female entrepreneurs to digitally engaged for learning opportunities, connecting with their networks, reach to their capital investors and as well to nurture their entrepreneurial skills. This technology will also help in external communication and marketing the skills of these black female entrepreneurs and showing their innovations. 

Since nowadays Artificial Intelligence is taking a high and digital engagement become a high demand for such initiatives. In addition COVID-19 will change the whole business working styles and lifestyle of office environment because of social distancing most of the business are going virtual and online. 

Therefore this digital and social media platform, e-learning and prototypes apps will be pioneer for such type of initiatives. 

Goal/Impact: We are striving to create enabling environment where the rights of black female founders are protected and the can become innovative entrepreneurs to boost the contribute in boosting the country's economy and serve the community. 

Purpose/Outcome: The purpose of this solution is pave the way way for black female entrepreneurs to build their capacity, support them in finding the right networks, exploring investment opportunities and connect them to the relevant safety nets and insurance to secure their finances and investments.   

Results/Outputs

The black female entrepreneurs received the relevant trainings, education resources and awareness session to build their business development capacity and start up their initiative in a proper planned way.

They are connected to the network of investment firms and venture capitalist to showcase their initiatives and find the investment opportunities. 

They have built their confidence through secured and insured their investments and financial assets and start their way toward financial independence and sustainability. 

We currently advising and providing service to less than 50 businesses and beneficiaries. 

Out plan is to increase to service 200 clients in first year and possibly 10,000 individuals in 5 years. 

For this coming year we are targeting to provide service to 200 black female entrepreneurs. This will act as a pilot and with the time we will learn from our business service and will improve things for coming years.

The reason it will increase in upcoming years is because our goal for five years is called "Butterfly Replication Approach" which means those black female leaders who are served and startup the successful work, they will become our brand ambassadors and volunteer to bring and serve more with us. We want to become a leading platform where not only the paid staff are serving but our strong volunteer network and alumnus will help and serve here with us. 

Financing such initiative is a barriers since we have started Umbrella-sure on small investment. We have great ideas, initiatives and potentials but biggest barrier so far is funding this initiative. 

COVID-19 and some unrest due to recent ethnic conflict are among the upcoming barriers. 

To overcome pandemic and ethnic crisis, we are engaging digitally and bringing most of our services virtual. At the same time we have started advocating for peace a different platform and advocating for gender equality. 

To overcome the financial challenge, we are optimistic to win this funding, prize and also have started grants and investment research to boost up the financial resources. 

Currently our strategic team include 7 members. Since the company is small, therefore we are outsourcing most of work to online experts and freelancers. Once we have resources to pay, we will bring more people to our team. 

We are team of like minded person. We have the same vision and passion. We also have all the required expertise and skills this business demand. Luckily we also have majority from black community and itself it is founded by a black person. 

From the beginning of this initiative, we are temporarily and as well long term partnered with different forums, platforms and network.

MassMutual is our strategic partner. We have a broker contract with them that provides us many support which includes but not limited to an unlimited amount of resources to educate my team, my clients and provide expertise in different areas.

Atlanta Youth Council is also one of our key strategic partner. This is a platform where we explore most of the black female entrepreneurs. This also provide us volunteer support from youth. 

Financial Services and Insurances

Umbrellasure will offer a broad array of financial services.

Approximately 75% of the Company's revenues will come from the sale of insurance policies to the Atlanta general and business public.

The financial services rendered by the business include:

●      Annuity Sales and Management

●      Portfolio Management

●      401(k) Plan Management.

Each year, the business receives fees of approximately 2% of the dollar amount of assets under management.

Magazine and Podcasting

Umbrellasure is launching a magazine (called R.E.I.G.N. Magazine) that will be distributed online. This magazine will focus on financial and entrepreneurship literacy as well as discussing artists and entertainment in the Atlanta area. Each month, the magazine will promote  Atlanta based artist and black female entrepreneurs. The Company will generate income via subscription fees as well as through the sales of advertisements among local and regional businesses.

 A video podcast (called Million Dollar Mover) is also broadcasted weekly that provides in-depth commentary regarding entrepreneurship, financial planning, insurance, as well as arts and entertainment in Atlanta. 

Entrepreneurship Hub for Black Female Founders

This is a unique identity of Umbrella sure. This is a platform and program service which is intended to provide support to young and marginalized black female leaders in their entrepreneurship journey. Umberllsure will make small revenue from membership but intended to seed the investment from grants and prizes available. In longer term, Umbrellsure intend to fundraise for this initiatives from those successful entrepreneurs who become successful because of this platform. 

Through our diverse areas of expertise and knowledge, Management intends to build Umbrellasure to reach $536,000 of revenue by the fifth year of operations.

These are the revenue streams which will help us to raise average of 150,000 per annum and will pave the way toward our financial sustainability. 

Solve is the best and fit platform to bring this solution because no other platform will understand better the issues of marginalized young and black female entrepreneurs, other than solve.

Solve prize will provide us an opportunity to seed the initiative and enable to serve the black female leaders who are waiting for support they needed from us.

Solve also promote Artificial Intelligence and Technological Advancements. Since due to COVID-19, many businesses and relationships are going digital, therefore Solve better  understand that this initiative we proposed are not possible without digital engagements and improving artificial intelligence. 

Nothing is possible without partnership. As the 17th goal of SDGs promote partnership, therefore on this belief, Umbrellasure is intended to expand its partnership network where other partner, who have the same shared goals should come together, share resources and provide expertise we lack and as well provide financial support. 

We like to involve in partnership with MIT, organisations with same initiatives, CSR Forums, Entrepreneurs Networks and financial advising agencies. 

Our initiative and solution is exclusively for marginalized women belonging to black community and since it is technology focused initiative which will digitally engaged black women leaders for learning, networking, seeking investment and finding safety nets for their financial investments. It will give voice to the marginalized women in the society and enable them to showcase their talent. 

Our solution is exclusively based on creating good jobs through inclusive entrepreneurship to the marginalized black female leaders. 

Our solution provide a digital learning platform to the young entrepreneurs who will learn their business ethics, necessary financial planning skills and tactics toward strategic development of their initiatives.
