NativeSmart - Enhancing Access to Quality Education

NativeSmart allows students and lifelong learners learn anything in their native language. Our solution is a learning marketplace that allows real world teachers who speak a native language teach a subject area or skill to people who otherwise would need to learn a non-native language to learn the subject area

Non-native speakers of the English language or many non-native language of instruction in schools struggle to gain knowledge or acquire the necessary skills required to be productive now and for future work opportunities. Our solution is a Udemy in local languages, we will offer relevant courses to people from school aged to lifelong learners through the web, mobile, TV and radio. We plan to charge for certificates for the online version and advertise in the TV and radio versions. Our current pivot has over 5000 users and teaches 3 African languages. We believe learning in your native language will address the problem of poor education due to inadequate understanding of the language of delivery. If our product is scaled we can increase the number and quality of skilled professionals in the workforce of the future

40% of adults in Nigeria cannot speak or write English and it gets compounded as about 37% of kids are not enrolled in primary schools. The workforce of the future needs to learn and relearn new skills, removing every barrier to learning is essential to ensuring that learning will take place. NativeSmart will assure that language is not a barrier.

Learning in a native language comes naturally to human beings. At native smart we have conducted several trials and when the results of students taught in english is compared with those thought in native language, we see a dramatic increase in understanding. Furthermore,  the Federal Ministry of Education Nigeria and British Council has acknowledged this approach to learning, to increase the Access to Education.

The target outcome of NativeSmart is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The impact of our solution is education for all, literate or illiterate, every man, woman or child who has the drive to learn or acquire a skill will benefit from our solution.   It will also serve as an additional stream of incomes for teachers and instructors

Beneficiary of the solution include Children especially those  in remote and rural arrears, teachers who teach subjects in native languages, other lifelong learners

We cater for students who do understand the language of instruction in their country or do not know it well enough to learn a new skill using it.

More so we:

-Source and create quality lessons that are reviewed and vetted by qualified teachers.

-Train teachers to use the technology to enhance instruction

-Lessons with multiple approaches; using games, videos, storytelling

-Onsite deployment for low internet schools and an offline community where learners can be a part of the NativeSmart club

Our Technology  meets these values becauses of its use of  mobile technology and its offline community. It's a marketplace that is built to develop the capacity of the  languages to serve as effective tools for teaching mathematics and science subjects with specific focus in underserved communities. where the use of this language is prevalent.

The tutorials will be taught by real world teachers who are subject matter experts in the skill they teach and native speakers of the language. We would use feedback from the community of learners to constantly improve courses with the help of our instructional design experts.

Our solution will be available via mobile and web. (Certification will be paid for and the courses will be free) the solution will also be available through local TV and radio (we will use advertising to sustain revenue)

We intend to charge the students for a verified certificate of course completion. This we believe will assure that good quality education remains accessible to everyone who has the drive to take and complete the courses and people only pay for a verification that the knowledge has been transferred.

In our bid to reach as many school aged and lifelong learners as possible we believe that a web and mobile only strategy will be insufficient to achieve scale, we will broadcast the courses on TV and radio which is still the major form of media consumption of our target area. our sustainability plan for these medium is to get sponsorship for our programs and advertise during the broadcast on radio and TV

Technology and People of the highest grades are required to build the products, maintain and improve them. Our ability to acquire and keep the talent and technology is a barrier to achieving our goal

The courses on native smart are not translations, they are a standardised curriculum taught by real world teachers of the subject. Because we need to create all the courses from scratch the human requirements cost is a barrier to that is limiting our ability to succeed

Also would also get the opportunity to learn and be mentored by changemakers who have had similar experience working on similar projects in the region. Additionally , We will take advantage of the funding to help build the product
