BYB (be your boss) INITIATIVE
Education, the most important element in a human being life… The major aspect of our history, culture and evolution is based on that. Without it, there is no future and no hope.
In Africa, the biggest part of our population is young and sadly not well educated… most of those young people are living in an extreme poverty… This is because of a lack or inadequate training infrastructures.
That is why, we decided to take action and tackle this problem and give back hope and future to our nation, to our people. By providing tools and contents, using information and communication technologies available today.
First, we focus on digital and agriculture skills training. And last, we connect them with employers, local or international investors in order to get a job or finance their own business.
Across the African continent and especially in Chad, millions of young people are unemployed and live in a constant situation of poverty (420 MILLIONS in 2015 according to afdb). But, most of those young people are highly motivated to change their situation.
The situation can be explained by many factors like insufficient job creation, lack of competences and right skills.
Based on this observation, we decided to solve the problem in Chad, by the called BYB Initiative project.
The BYB initiative is a project that aims 2 main objectives:
Objective 1: Fight against unemployment
First, provide necessary skills in digital, agriculture and business management tools to any citizen at any level, in order to start their own business (Be Your Boss initiative).
Second, organize crowdfunding events or “parties” to connect business project owners with potential local investors or donators. The participants can have a platform to pitch/present their project and get feedback.
And last, to sustain those during their startup process.
Objective 2: Fight against hunger In other hand, by focusing on agriculture, they can provide sufficient food for their communities and globally to the country.
Our solution consisted to have a training center infrastructure, divided in 2 sections:
1- A training section with capacity of 50 places. We will provide onsite courses and also an online platform that can be accessed via mobile phones or tablets.
Our courses content in IT field will consist of coding languages for mobile and web applications. Also, we will provide a lab for testing and fixing laptops and mobile phones.
In Agriculture, we will focus on new techniques and best practices that are environmentally aligned sustainable goals.
2- The entrepreneurship section, will provide necessary tools and support to start a business. We will have also a platform that can connect students that have projects with potential local investors or donators.
Our solution is designed to provide new perspectives to millions of unemployed young people, graduated or not, that are motivated to change their lives.
Via our program, they will gain new skills that are most in demand. So they can increase significantly their chance to get a job if they want or start right away their own business and succeed.
Prior to this project, we attend many forums organized by local NGOs and private companies. This allow us to get feedbacks from those companies and job seekers. That is why we decided to act via this solution.
- Enable small and new businesses, especially in untapped communities, to prosper and create good jobs through access to capital, networks, and technology
As described above, our solution is aligned with at least 2 of these challenges.
First, the training that we provide in agriculture allows underserved population in our communities to gain new skills and techniques that are used in order to "Produce and consume low-carbon, resilient, and nutritious food". And the other aspect of our solution is to provide the right skills that local companies are looking for or to start their own business as freelancers. This will solve the challenge of "Good Jobs & Inclusive Entrepreneurship".

For financial sustainability, we have planned to offer consulting services to technology companies and banks. We will organize paid training sessions on subjects like cybersecurity, software engineering and project management.
The number of our potential clients can be estimated about 500 employees/year.
We can't solve problems without human and financial ressources. To solve the challange I choose, some infrastructures are crucial in order to start.
We will need a fully equipped training room and an office. That is why I applyed to SOLVE CHALLENGE program. It's a great opportunity, to have necessary fianancial aid to start the project.
