BRIC A VRAC
There are more than 100 billion packages thrown in France every year.
BRIC A VRAC has set itself the goal of limiting unnecessary packaging in our daily lives by improving the bulk experience. Bulk sales are the sale of non-prepackaged products.
The objective is to massively convert to more responsible consumption such as bulk consumption to considerably reduce the production of packaging and protect the environment.
BRIC A VRAC IS a automated distribution solution connected in bulk. it is as the “fuel pump”, the consumer sees the price/quantity of the product selected. The distributor is also connected to consumers via a mobile application, but also to retailers via an application interfaces (to have more products informations).
If 15% of the French population ate bulk pasta; we can save 75 million & 75,000 liters of water & oil. We can greatly reduce the greenhouse gas (no production of waste and no waste destruction)
There are more than 100 billion packages thrown in France every year.
10 tonnes of plastic are produced per second worldwide.
That is why, we need to ban the plastic and packaging from our products. The bulk market is growing, however, less than 5% of French people consume very regularly in bulk. There are many issues for the consumer, but also for retailers.
Problematic identified in order of priority for supermarkets:
-losses for supermarkets (between 3 to 15% per store)
-hygiene (silo washing, department maintenance)
-lack of product traceability
-lack of product information
-bulk product logistics
-container problem, complicated to “tare” customers' containers.
Problematic identified in order of priority for consumers:
-hygiene
-product choice issues
-lack of price and grammage information desired for consumers
-lack of product information
-container problem, consumers do not have a container, it is also complicated to bring back your own container.
We questioned 1000 persons and 300 supermarkets. We want to respond to these issues in order to democratize bulk sales to ban packaging !
80% of the supermarket we asked have the "lost bulk problematic"
60% of the supermarket would like more traceability informations
40% of the person would like to know the price they will pay
70% of the person would like more product informations.
An automatic bulk distributor on which, as at the “fuel pump”, the consumer sees the price and quantity of the product selected.

The distributor includes 3 independent distribution mechanisms (therefore potentially 3 different products). The food are contained in the "BRICs" which, can be “plug” into the distributor.

The distributor is also connected to consumers via a mobile application, but also to retailers via a web / application interfaces.
The consumer mobile application developed by BRIC A VRAC allows consumers to view
-their purchases -the characteristics of each of their products -their ecological impact to educate as many people as possible about -responsible consumption.
In addition, the dashboard web interface allows retailers to: monitor the inventory status of each silos installed on the machines, improve product traceability and analyze sales performance more easily.
Our distributor is more hygienic, less contact with food.
We respond to the porblematic for consumers of the lack of product information, grammage and price.
We offer better product traceability and reduce losses because people know the price they will pay. They won't leave the bags in the bulk department because they are surprised by the price (it is around 5% loss in the supermarket).
Our main target is GMS (Franprix, intermarché, super U etc), these are all bulk departments that are self-service. Our secondary target are organic stores, bulk stores and independent grocery stores.
We will rent our distributors as a subscription to retailers. The supermarkets and grocery stores are our customers. Our beneficiaries are the people who buy bulk in supermarkets and grocery stores. The monthly subscription includes the rental of the machine, maintenance, balance control and the application for supermarkets. The distributor is therefore turnkey. The application makes it possible to offer consumers of supermarkets and grocery stores to gather all the information on the products purchased and their ecological impact. In addition, in the subscription, we also offer analysis and sales performance of silos and product traceability software for stores.
Maintenance is carried out by ourselves, and we subcontract a compagny certified by the state to check the scales once a year. We know that a barrier to entry is the selling price of our subscription. That’s why we have to charge a fair price.

Manual, plastic or wooden dispensers are numerous, but do not meet all current needs. The main competitors in the market are:
-Smart Vrac wishes to work with the cardboard silos of “Bulk and Co”. They offer a base that can accommodate the cardboard boxes of the wholesaler. It is possible to see the price and quantity scroll. The system is therefore adaptable only with partners who package in cardboard boxes. For the moment, it's Bulk and Co. This solution responds to hygiene and logistics issues, however, the boxes must be discarded after each use.
-Just Bio is a company that offers a turnkey solution in mass distribution. They sell the plastic silos, but also the products. They offer to wash and fill the silos with their products. It’s a turnkey solution. However, its silos are made of plastic and do not respond to hygiene, loss / theft, product traceability issues for retailers and the lack of product / price information for consumers.
All the players positioned on solid bulk do not respond to the major issues of bulk sales. With BRIC A VRAC, we can answer it!
The first technical innovation is our automatic distribution system. Our system allows better control of the quantity of products distributed and to see the price and quantity scroll. This information will make it possible to reduce the losses linked to the price of the products once weighed.
A supermarket can have between 2% to 15% loss / theft per store. This is due to consumers who leave their bags on the shelves because they have too much, eating before going to the checkout, or even mixing the products. Thanks to the fuel pump system, it is possible to know what price and quantity, we will pay so much less people leave their bags on the shelves.
The second innovation is the BRIC. Our machine has 3 BRICs or 3 products. These BRICS slide on the base of the machine. It is therefore possible to pre-fill them upstream. GMS can also fill them more easily in reserve instead of a tedious filling on the shelf. Secondly, it is envisaged that these BRICS will be filled upstream by a supplier (wholesaler or brand).
Our solution is also innovative informatics with our dashboard for the retailer and the app for the consumer.
You can see a video of our prototype.
It is our first prototype, now we are creating a industriel prototype to test it in a supermarket in Novembre 2021.

In 5 years we can start to touch hundreds of thousands of people
Our goal in to ban 1 billion packaging in France !
-FInancement of the distributor (industrialization)
-Maintenance of the distributor
-Sensibilize poeple to bul consummation in france and other countries
We are going to fix our own machine and hire if we need help.
We are going to make a test in a supermarket in November 2020. The objectivists is to show that the concept is working.
We can raise money after this POC.
We are going to communicate about the bulk consummation :)

We will rent our elevators as a subscription to retailers. The supermarkets and grocery stores are our customers. Our beneficiaries are the people who buy bulk in supermarkets and grocery stores. The monthly subscription estimated at 169 euros per machine includes the rental of the machine, maintenance, balance control and the application for supermarkets. The distributor is therefore turnkey. The application makes it possible to offer consumers of supermarkets and grocery stores to gather all the information on the products purchased and their ecological impact. In addition, in the subscription, we also offer analysis and sales performance of silos and product traceability software for stores.
Maintenance is carried out by ourselves, and we subcontract a body certified by the state to check the scales once a year. Each year, the supermarkets pay 300 euros of control for each balance. This is now taken into account in the subscription. We know that a barrier to entry is the selling price of our subscription. That’s why we have to charge a fair price. We therefore estimated a monthly subscription cost of 169 euros per machine or 56.33 euros per product. This cost quickly pays for itself, it depends on the margin rate, the selling price of the product and the quantity sold. In general with a product like almonds, cashews, the price of 56.33 euros pays for itself in 3 days of turnover. Here is an example with almonds from our document which calculates the profitability of each machine according to several variables.
