- Pre-Seed
Nevada Partners provides employment and education services to disadvantaged youth ages 16-24. The solution addresses the challenged posed by assisting youth with becoming self-sufficient and securing high demand occupations in technology, while developing STEM to inspire youth to become future leaders in the technology industries across the world.
Nevada Partners, Inc.'s (NPI) solution is to prepare disadvantaged youth with the skills they need to be ready for the workforce of the future and thrive in the 21st century. The purpose of our proposed program is to provide employment and education services which include job placement, job training, job readiness and financial literacy to unemployed, underemployed and financially unstable individuals. The vision for the proposed program is to become the program of choice for youth participants to attain meaningful jobs through the development of high-tech skills in robotics, automation and technology and enable the maximum number of students per year for these ambitions. The proposed service will meet our goals and objectives by assisting the individuals back into the workforce and strengthening our neighborhoods by providing the proper education needed to secure employment and career enhancement in the technology industry. The described quality learning opportunities will be deployed by cross-sector industry leaders, and our local communities to encourage learning experiences that adapt to today’s world and drive income generation.
Nevada Partners works with local out-of-school young adults 16-24 years old to graduate from high school and connect to viable post-secondary opportunities, including college, training, and employment. We support southern Nevada’s most vulnerable young adults, including homeless, pregnant and parenting, individuals aging out of foster care, and those who are adjudicated. NPI's solution aims to support disadvantaged youth from from low socio-economic, provides the background to equip them with 21st century skills and prepare for the workforce of the future by presenting new educational models and concepts to improve quality of learning for young people.
STEM fields touch nearly every element of our everyday lives. The paramount way to guarantee future attainment and longevity it is to make sure that our clients are well skilled in these subjects. Building a solid STEM foundation through a well-rounded curriculum is the best way to ensure that our clients are exposed to math, science, and technology throughout their educational career. Our clients will be exposed to our leadership and resiliency training where they will learn: Strategies for overcoming challenges, Responsibility, Accountability, Effective communication, Building relationships, Substance prevention, Decision making and Delayed gratification.
The Future Skills program is a 14 week technology driven training that will benefit disadvantaged youth ages 16-14. Youth will have the opportunity to have a career coach assigned to them for at least two years while providing support of services, guidance and mentoring. They will get exposure to career exploration, coaching, virtual job shadowing and work base learning opportunities. NPI has a career resource center, where clients are routinely provided core services. This new and ever evolving course exposes students to a wide array of future technologies. The class introduces students to techniques used to create highly innovative solutions to various real-life issues. The students will also learn software, equipment, and tools so that they can bring their designs to life. The project-based class utilizes design principles, project-based exploration (both group and individual), self-guided learning processes, as well as in-class critiques and feedback. Students will complete real-life engineering design challenges, prepare written documentation, and present results.
The proposed program will produce meaningful results by increasing the economy to strengthen the neighborhoods for our clients and creating a healthy and sustainable community for our client’s children and families. We will increase the financial literacy awareness and will promote self-sufficiency to prevent poverty. The proposed service will meet our goals and objectives by assisting the individuals back into the workforce and strengthening our neighborhoods by providing the proper education in the technology industry to secure employment and career enhancement.
The solution will be deployed by hosting weekly informational sessions on campus. Through leveraged funding from Intel Corporation and Workforce Connections we are able to provide this program at no cost to the youth we are targeting. The training is currently offered to 20 youth per cohort of 14 weeks. If the proposed programming is funded we will be able to expand our program to offer the program to a larger number of youth and enhance our curriculum.

The proposed program we are requesting funds for is a leveraged program that is based on both private and public sector assistance. The private funding is from Intel, who is a well known technology company around the world. The public leveraging is from grants that are already in place. The main public leveraging is the Youth grant through Workforce Connections. The other sustainability factor is the space needed for the proposed program. At the current time, Nevada Partners has space allocated for the program with a temporary building on property. NPI is in the process of building a new Regional Workforce Development Center (RWDC). This new building is being funded from grants received from Clark County and the City of North Las Vegas. The program will have a dedicated training area that will extend up through the second floor to support the larger number of youth we anticipate serving.
Currently, our funding is limited to only have one 3D printer and one Laser Printer. To provide the hands one training for the youth we rotate the use of the equipment. The first pilot class was able to get exposure to UASs but with funding restrictions we were unable to continue that training opportunity.
